Did you read it?  I hope you did
as the legal beagles didn't mail out
thousands of copies for nothing.
Did you notice  that if you're over 65, you don't get benefits?
Did you see that there's NO more
DENTAL if they get their motion
granted?  Did you notice the deadline for objection is APR3???
MAKE SOME NOISE...or accept
it as a DONE DEAL
1. Compton's
FEB 02 letter said
retirees would get medical and
dental benefits...now they are
filing to take it away.
2.  Carty's "promises" included
insurance for retirees..but now
it appears that it is   (cont'd )
We have followed the American   Airlines takeover of TWA with     great interest as we, although      retired, do stand to have our        lives significantly changed. Now
the deal is officially concluded
and many, many details remain
to be worked out.  Chief among
them, for many of us, are: the     medical/dental benefits and the
details of the travel benefits         issues.

Retiree Pass Issue
...continued
A short time ago, we were being told that TWA had worked out a deal to be taken over by American Airlines. We were told that the company had "gone to the wall" for us, but that we retirees would not be getting travel benefits.
We were told that this was for
the good of the Company.  All this
has now changed thanks to the efforts of many who emailed and wrote to the "players," the government and anyone else they could get to listen.  We now have some assurances that the travel benefits we have earned will continue under American Airlines.  But we do not know all the details at this time .
For a recent history of the retiree pass issue, including the current situation concerning the "early out " group click the term pass.

    September 2000 balance sheet
did not indicate there was liability
   associated with the Post 65
Retirees, certain schedules were
  ammended to clarify that
  American would not assume
  liability for that group...WHY
  WAS THIS NOT ON THE
   BALANCE SHEET?
4.  Deadline for objections is APR
3rd...not much time to regroup
  What can we do?

   d)  All of the above
We don't have the answers.  This is a group (large group) effort.
