august 03 to 09, 2002 - krabi/phuket
a little bit about pre-trip thoughts. i wanted a beach holiday, so anywhere with beach and sun is fine for me. so i was thinking bali or phuket/krabi, or maybe even lang tengah but i have a phobia about the 15 hour bus ride to trengganu by now. so we kinda settled on phuket/krabi which is less than 2 hours flight away. week before i was scheduled to leave, i had a last minute panic session when i realised it's the low season in phuket now, which means more rain than sun. somehow eventually i convinced myself the sun will probably be out most of the time when i am there, all the panic being unfounded. perfect time to re-discover the world does not revolve around my holiday plans.
so now, post-trip thoughts. well, it was not exactly a beach holiday. no.1. it rained and it rained and it rained. no.2. by day two, i didn't really wanna lie on the beach anymore. no.3. i think i did mostly rock-climbing. somehow this trip is more of a rock-climbing expedition than anything else. dun count on me being converted into an avid rock-climber though, i just dun get this sport.
highlights of the trip: firefly (yes, just one), the beach (as in The Beach, actually maya beach on phi-phi leh), the unattainable princess lagoon (ok, you should read the full account of the search for this promised land or water or whatever), thai banana pancake! :)
