Paul Martin

(Bass Guitar)

Birthday:  December 22

Born in Winchester, Kentucky, to a plant comptroller
and a housewife, Paul landed head-first in a musical family. His father owned a recording studio, and he and Paul’s mother had their own country band. Paul showed an interest in music at an early age and received his first drum set at age four; by eight, he was drummer in his parent’s band. Spending time in the studio and learning to play other instruments (guitar, piano, bass, mandolin and pedal steel), his musical tastes began to diversify to include country, bluegrass, gospel and rock. Paul joined a rock and roll band in high school — the impetus for a stint as Billy Joe Royal’s keyboard player. From there he moved into the vocalist/guitar position with the then already-successful group Exile. Paul stayed with the group long enough to help land a record deal with Arista Nashville and enjoy Top 10 chart success. When the group disbanded in 1993, he began playing steel guitar for Kathy Mattea. Married in 1995 to ORB lead singer Duane Allen’s daughter, Jamie, Paul began filling in for the Oaks ‘whenever and wherever needed’ from time to time. In 1998, he was asked to join the band full time.

Paul and Jamie have two sons March and Kell Jeffrey.
