MONTGOMERY COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL AND SHELTER WILL TRY TO BECOME A NO-KILL FACILITY
SO WHY WON'T HOUSTON TRY??

For the first time ever Montgomery County Animal Control and Shelter will try to become a no-kill facility for one month.  I don't think there is an animal control/shelter facility this big in the Houston area that has ever attempted to do this.  Please help us continue to grow and get better.  It is because of the support of the Constable, La Jeane, and the staff that we are able to attempt to do this together.  Montgomery County Animal Control and Shelter used to be a catch and kill facility only. Two years ago we had an 80% euthanasia rate.  Last month it was down to 20%.  We need to keep up the momentum and thank all of the wonderful rescues who have been pulling from us these past years.  The offsite adoption group has also done a great job finding our dogs and cats homes.

We still have a long way to go.  I have heard that it may take five years to get our problems at the shelter worked out, but we have come a long way in two years.  Please help us to get better.

Because we will have more dogs and cats at MCAS in February our vet bills will increase. All proceeds of this garage sale will go directly towards paying for these vet expenses.  We will need to increase our spays and neuters and pay for any animals who come out of our facility who become sick. You can help by donating items to the garage sale (if you would like to drop them off at my house or meet up with me I would be happy to do this).  You can also bring them to the garage sale on February 7th. If you would like to make a contribution to the group who will receive the proceeds from this sale you can always make a contribution on this website www.fmctas.org Friends of Montgomery County Texas Animal Shelter (non-profit 501c3 group who pays for medical expenses for the animals at the shelter).
Please support our efforts and stop by.

The garage sale will be held on Saturday February 7th from 8-4PM at 24627 I-45 North The Woodlands, TX (next to the Texaco station).  If we can succeed at having a no-kill shelter for one month, who knows what the future holds for our animals?  We want those animals to be healthy, happy, and well after they are adopted.  We would like to make sure the general public and rescue groups do not incur large medical bills.  FMCTAS will help them.  Help us by spreading the word!

Thank you,
