Atreyu: Warrior from the planes of the purple buffalo. It is up to him to find a cure for the Empress's sickness so she can tell them how to stop The Nothing that is destroying their world.
Artax: Atreyu's faithful horse. Sniff, sniff.
The Child-like Empress: The empress of fantasia who is remarkably child-like. She holds the answer to saving Fantasia but can't tell them while she's sick. Or something like that.
Falkor: A luckdragon which everyone agrees looks like a flying dog. He helps Atreyu when it looks hopeless for him and saves him more than once.
