I Don't Know You

I see colors when I close my eyes; colors in my mind.
I feel textures on my fingertips in the middle of the night.
I hear noises when I'm sleeping that I've never heard before.
I smell you when I'm dreaming, though you've never been through my door.
I don't know you, but I love you, whoever you are.
We've never met, but your smile makes me tingle.
We've never spoken, but your voice makes me melt.
I've never seen you, but I've imagined the twinkle in your eye.
I don't know you, but I love you, whoever you are
I don't know you, but I love you, whoever you are.

Slimy, Slithery Snake

Slimy, slithery snake.
Cut you with a hoe.
That way you can't kill my baby rabbits any more.
I'm tired of hearing 'em cryin'.
I'm tired of hearin' 'em moan.
Cut you with that garden hoe;
won't be makin' 'em scream no more.
Slimy, slithery snake;
slimy, slithery snake.
And if you live awhile and get some babies of your own,
and if they bother them rabbits;
you know I'll get em with that hoe.
Slimy, slithery snake; slimy slithery snake.
Slimy, slithery snake.

She dances when she walks... she can't help it.
She wiggles and shakes and shimmys and glides on over to my side.
She hugs me so tight... I can't stand it.
She giggles and smiles up at me her eyes all sparkle and shine.
She's an angel and she boogies in flight.

Juicy, Juicy Peach

That girl of mine...
She sure is a peach.
Man, is she juicy!
My sweetie, man, knocks me off of my feet!
Makes me loosey-goosey.
She makes me glad, smiling at me.
Sets my toes a tingling.
I know once I get under her skin, that juicy pulp awaits me!
She's so sweet!
My juicy, juicy peach!!!

Sleepy dream like rain in a tree.
No pattern, just falling.
Every notion brought to life in an instant.
Every emotion flows through tense pores.
Wet with anticipation, perspiration.
Inundated with images- flashing, floating dancing.
Crashing to the floor.
Inconsistent, completely relevant and perfectly obscure.
Exactly ambivalent and ever so pure.
Incoherent, lost and confused.
Like rain in a tree... dancing like rain in a tree.

Chocolate chip cookie trees, burdened with fruit.
Ah! The food of the gods!
Which way to the land of milk...
and honey?
How many times do you dip before you chomp?
Chomp
CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP
Chocolate chip cookie trees drippin'
Just drippin'

She's way too much...

.

She's way too much to comprehend.
Sends my head into a spin.
All I know to do is grin,
Grin and bare it.
Seems to make her happy.
If she's happy, so am I.
So I just stand and smile,
Smile and bare it.
I just smile and bare it.
Grin a big ol' cheesy grin and bare it all for her to see.

I'll Be All Right In the Morning

Delirium makes me giggle.
Girl I love the way you wiggle.
My sanity comes and goes,
But as long as I can feel my toes,
I'll be all right in the morning.
Procrastinate 'til I forget it.
It's too late.
Oh well, don't sweat it.
Everything will be okay.
If I can handle one more day,
I'll be all right in the morning.
Now I must get on the stick.
Make up lost time and do it quick
Hurry up before I get sick.
Got to get back to my chick.
But I'll be all right in the morning.
Now everything worked itself out.
There's no reason to sit and pout.
Things to do, faces to see.
And all of them smiling at me.
It's all good this morning.
Everything's just fine this morning.
Everything's just fine this mornin'

INDEX OF POEMS

Don't tell me what to think.
Well, maybe you should.
My mind is not too clear.
Day to day living is getting me down.
Won't you lend me your ear?
I need a little comfort.
Someone to hold my hand.
I need a place to call my own
where I can make a stand.
Where nobody talks to me
unless I talk to them.
Where I can hang my head and cry
and it won't be a sin.
Maybe I'm just overwhelmed.
Maybe I'm just overwhelmed.
Maybe I'm just overwhelmed.
Maybe I'm just overwhelmed.

Necessary Evils

Filled, overflowing and happy;
my cup is way too small.
Always better to have too much
than to not have any at all.
Keep on giving, though it runs on the floor.
Don't keep opportunity waiting at the door.
Find the source and keep it running right.
Only with power come glory and might.
Temporary short-sighted excursions.
Self-indulgent ramblings.
Accidental recurrent unconscious amblings.
Necessary evils.

Wish I Was There

I believe in moderation,
but I want to be far, far from here.
So set me up another one.
Give me another beer.
I don't believe in medication,
but I want to be far, far from here.
So roll me up another one
and pass it over here.
I believe in moderation,
but I want to be far, far from here.
I need a shot of whiskey and an imported beer.

Nigel turned to look at Sue, but Sue had looked away and Nigel caught the eye of Bill. Nigel turned his head, but not before he saw a wink from Bill. Nigel walked the other way, but Bill saw him and followed Nigel. Nigel tried to get away, but Bill was one persistent man and Nigel finally told him he'd just better not keep following him around anymore.

Superball

Structure and cohesion falling together,
but always down and farther and faster and all but lost.
Then in reverse, but slower, as gravity works away.
Then again, but slowly settling into an audible pattern
of gradually but increasing rapidity,
now ending in a slow and short roll on the red shag carpet.

Bubble

Iridescent sphere of hopeful wind,
float above this place.
Go like a wish, blow on a gust of time.
Reflect upon the world we share
for this short, precious moment.
Then, at least as quickly as you were made,
you are no more.
No more than a hair-thin strand of lightly colored air
drifting effortlessly toward your final resting place.
I miss seeing my face in yours.

I Could Have Any Woman I Like

I could have any woman I like.
I smile at all of them,
and they smile back.
And if I wink at them,
they blush and giggle.
And I could have her, you know it's true.
Or I could have her, but I want you.
Well, you could have any man you like.
And if you smiled at them,
they'd smile back.
And if you winked at them,
they'd blush and giggle.
And you could have him,
I know it's true.
Or, you could have him,
And leave me blue.
Well, I could have any woman I like.
And I like all of them
the way they move.
And I like all of them
They bounce and jiggle.
And I could have her,
you know it's true.
And I could have her,
but I need you.
And I like women, the way they move.
And I like my woman, I love you.

This Is Not My Lot

This is not my lot.
There are better things in store for me.
But you'd better hold on,
if you're going to the top with me.
And we can't slow down.
Earth continues to spin.
So here we go girl.
No, it's not a sin.
'Cause this is not my lot.
This is not my pain.
And it's not my fault.
Though I'm to blame.
Such a shame.
This is not my lot...

Bass

The bass blew back her hair.
She sat too close to the amplifier.
And as she pounded on the strings
and the bass blew back her hair,
she didn't even know I was there.
She wouldn't have cared.

You Are The Sun

You are the sun in the morning,
you keep me warm all day long.
You're the moon in the night sky
so I know I'm not alone.
It gives me shivers just to think of you
and I shiver a lot, it's true.
So come over here and warm me up
'cause lately I've been blue.
Lately I've been blue.
Lately I've been blue.
You say the moon is smiling at me
and I can't help but smile at you.
It's your smile reflecting off
of the moon that lights the dew.
It's the light of you that blinds me
so if I lose my way,
you come along to guide me
and help me through another day.
Help me through another day.
Help me through another day.

Rule My World

I am the king of my world
I'm looking for my queen
You are the queenliest girl
That I've ever seen.
Come on now, rule my world with me.
We could make this world our world
It's as easy as it seems
I'm already king here
I'm just looking for my queen.
Stand beside me, rule my world with me.
I'm looking for a queen who's
Looking for her king
A queen who'll love her king
More than any other thing.
Be my queen, and rule my world with me.
If you want to you can be queen
At least of my world
I'm just a guy who's
Looking for a girl.
Come on now, rule my world with me.
We could rule this world.
We'll rule our world.
You'll see.

NOW

I think of then
and compare it.
Still have the same time,
just share it
with somebody else.
People come and people go
they always end up as people.
NOW
Sometimes, I smile
when I think of you
Pretty often, I smile
I think of you

I've forgotten
where I was going.
Please remind me.
Smile so I'll know
I'm still here.
People come and people go
Still, people are people.

Sissy Boy (and tobacco juice)

Mama said,
"Little sissy boy,
Don't you call here no more.
If you call again, I'll spit tobacco juice on your floor."

Hey, now, little sissy boy,
you can run, but you can't hide.
If I get close enough, I'll spit
tobacco juice in your eye.
Hey, now, little sissy boy,
tobacco juice in your eye.
Oh, yeah, little sissy boy,
tobacco juice in your eye.
Tobacco juice in your eye,
sissy boy.
Tobacco juice in your eye.

Oh, now, little sissy boy,
don't expect from me,
anything but tobacco juice
from your head down to your knee.
Run but you can't hide,
sissy boy...
Run, but you can't hide.
If I get close enough to you,
sissy boy,
I'll spit tobacco juice in your eye.

Hey, now, little sissy boy.
Tobacco juice in your eye.

Bad Seeds

The sun is setting low on the horizon.
It's the end of another lonely day.
I find I'm still able to smile,
so I guess I'll be okay.
Who knows? Maybe tomorrow,
true love will look my way.
I'm gonna keep on waiting,
hoping, wishing, and praying.
Voices in my head keep talking.
I'm wondering what they're saying.
Something about holding on
to the good things that I've known.
Something maybe about forgetting
the bad seeds that I've sown.

Can You Feel It?

Close your eyes
You can trust me
Close your eyes
I just wanna kiss you
Close your eyes
I just wanna feel
your lips on mine.

Now, look at me
I won't hurt you
Look at me
Can you feel it?
Look at me
I am loving you
for all time.

Can you feel it?
You can trust me
Can you feel it?
I just want to kiss you
Can you feel it?
Your lips on mine.
