Human Mastication Interview Hello Ryan� how are you know? Gee - I'm feeling good because you gave us an interview.. he he he...!! I�ve heard a lot about the metal and grindcore band scene there in Davao. Could you tell us a little story or short info on how it�s started to have a huge scene there? HM - yes, many kick-ass metal bands are here in Davao City. About Grindcore, there are few grindcore bands here. and I can't call it a huge scene. What about the punk scene? Is it true that death/metal, grindcore scene is more dominating than the punk/hc scene there? HM - No scene is dominating here in Davao City. We have two scenes here. The punk scene and metal scene. Grindcore and HC/punk are one. Both bands merge in one show. Metal are different. They have their own scene. But some metal bands are performing in Grindcore, HC/punk gigs. Tell us about HM? Is this a satanic, occult, grindcore, gore or anti-christ band? HM - We play Brutal Death Metal w/ slightly political lyrics. Mostly what topic HM tackles about or do you also right some songs for animal rights/cruelty, etc. HM - Read our lyrics... What is most important to HM, music or lyrics? Why? HM - I prefer both.. Lyrics are pretty important because this is the message expressions of the band. Also the musick! For us, you should have to create excellent musick to have great feedbacks from the listeners. Could you tell us the style of music HM or can you compare HM to other band or maybe you have your own style? HM - It's really hard to describe our musick! But for me, we put our musick simply as Brutal Death! But we don't too fast musick. We are more on catchy and groovy touches. W/some heavy hardcore parts! HA!!! You said before that you have new drummer, what happened to your old drummer? HM - Yes, we already have a new drummer. We replace our original drummer, because we have a difficult problem with him and we can't tolerate that in Human Mastication. Do you already new records with your new drummer. How is he right now coz I know him a lot when he�s been here in manila before? HM - No, but we have a plan to record our full length... Our target date is on April.. So watch out and prepare! He he he he!! Is this your first band or have you been played in other band before? Tell us more? Gee - I have a grindcore band before.. And that band has already dissolved! Jay - This is my second band.. I played in other bands before. But I enjoyed being in Human Mastication than being in any other band. What can you say about other band saying that they are a satanic death metal band but the member of the band seen hanging around with their girl while attending mass mostly here in the Philippines? HM - Simply!! "POSER" They cannot stand with their principles. They act like a child! Anyway, I don't mind those people who are into satanic. We are different! They have their own principles. I�ve heard that the band is now in the middle of recording for the upcoming split cd with 2 other bands there in Davao. Could you tell us more about this� and what band is the other 2. Under what records or label gonna release this? HM - Yes!! We have an upcoming release! I think this is a 3-way split release. Human Mastication, Crustration and Bara de Kabra! Expect more massive heavy grinding assault! (he he he..) I think it will be released under Sullen Seed Projekt.. Hopefully in April.. Is there anyone of you a vegetarian or vegan. I�ve also some news there that some punks or most are active in campaigning against McDonalds, Wendy�s, burger king or other food chain.. Tell us more. HM - None, Their is no vegan or vegetarian in Human Mastication.. Some of the punks here are active campaigning against those mentioned food chains.. Also active in doing Food not Bombs!
