Those words were permanently engraved in young Kaoru Koganei�s mind after he solves a complicated Rubik�s Cube with amazing speed. He thought that Kurei was good and righteous. He thought that if he helps Kurei, everything would turn for the better. He thought wrong.
Kaoru first appeared in the series in Episode 5. He was a member of the Uruha Junior Team, a small part of Kurei�s assassin group. At that time, Recca was learning more about the mysterious Hokage Ninjas from a ninja-fanatic history teacher, Mr. Fumio Tatesako. Suddenly, Kaoru appeared and announced that he is going to kidnap Yanagi under the orders of Kurei and with help from his partner, Nagai Mokuran. They did their job easily. Later at the mansion, Kaoru befriended Yanagi and found that she�s a very sweet girl. He wondered who is her knight she was talking about and hopes to fight with him. However, he refused to believe that Recca was the knight. So instead, Kaoru battles with Tokiya in a fight between two masters of Hokage�s Psychic Blades. At first, they both are very equal. But then Kaoru gets the upper hand by changing the blade�s form. This way, he got Tokiya beat up and bleeding pretty bad.
He must have revealed too much, which in the end Tokiya finally learns Kaoru�s techniques and becomes the winner. However, Kaoru wasn�t discouraged and wished to fight with him again next time. Kaoru later learn that Kurei had been torturing Yanagi for reasons unexplained. And because of this, he left the Uruha and became the last person to join the Hokage, wanting to protect Yanagi. Even so, in his heart, Kaoru still believes that some day, Kurei would no longer be Mori�s puppet and would return to Hokage.
Kaoru Koganei is a very confident about his skills and always has a positive attitude about everything. He knows how to get what he wants and he wants to protect Yanagi, much to Recca�s annoyance. He�s cheeky, mischievous and has been nicknamed �Fang Boy� He cautious but at a tender age of 13, also a bit na�ve and innocent
