PER CAELUM EQUITARE NON POTES

A little child was crying loud

"equum et caelum ego amo",

quería a caballo a las estrellas llegar.

Her mother said, with the sweetest voice:

"per caelum equitare non potes";

pero la niña así no se calmó.

A man stared at a girl and then

puellam a terra ad lunam equitare iussit;

"sólo de esa forma te amaré".

But all she could say was:

"per caelum equitare non possum,

¿de todas formas amarme podrás?".

I looked at my love with sweet eyes

et ego ei dixi "amor omnia vincit,

cualquier cosa podremos superar".

And he said to me, cold as ice:

"velut per caelum equitare non possumus,

jamás yo a ti te podré amar".

So I try to find an ending to this

propter hoc esse non possum,

ya no puedo más vivir así.

My fair Death welcomes me today;

nunc per caelum equitare ego possum,

quizá de esa forma feliz podré ser.
