It was the top-of-the-range Yamaha Portatone model (apart from the very sophisticated PSR-6700 and PSR-SQ16) when it came out in 1991. The PSR-500 was the first big keyboard in its class. WIth it you could create your own custom accompaintments with intro, fill in, bridge, ending etc and save them into RAM (something like 128 kbytes). The percussion effects on this keyboard are especially good considering when it came out.
