Past: A sad one.. when he was younger he loved a girl named Rachel. One day she fell from a cliff that she and he had been on and had amnesia afterwards. Her parents blamed Locke for the incident and Locke accepted the blame and left. Rachel eventually remembered him but it was too late and she was killed by imperial soldiers. When he first meets Terra she reminds him of Rachel so he vows to protect her until she regains her memory. He later ends up saving Celes from death row and puts his skills to work as a Returner. Over the course of saving the world, he also begins to fall for Celes. When the Phoenix esper was found he used it to revive Rachel so he could see her again.
