I don't think this pumpkin will be able to stand up straight when all is said and done. I'll have to draw a drunk impression on his face, huh? *smirks*
She's coming along well. Started turning orange so I guess she's taken all she can for the moment.
I know I'm supposed to thump the pumpkins to see if they sound hollow and ready to be harvested but I'm telling you, the biggest strangest bugs are on them things. I'm not afraid of them because so far, they have no desire to get closer to me. They shy away when I reach closer so this makes me feel, "Okay. This is a bug that won't bother me if I don't bother them." but GEEZUS! A Queen Mother version of them popped up on a leaf, so close to me, like she was warning me or something but she soon left while I was trying to get Brutus to roll over. I wish my digital camera can get close to them but they all come out as blurs.
So, here's the pumpgourd in all its entirety. I'll tell you one thing. It reminds me of Ferngully. When I get real up and close, It's all ferngully. The grass is now kneehigh, you can't tell if the vines are growing in the grass until a few leaves pop out. What also makes it Ferngully is because of YELLOW dragonflies or whatever they are. It's like they have an entire world there. These yellow things just stay in this mound area and 'play' with each other, often thunking each other and so on.
Current Concerns Right now, It's rain. The only reason that Brutus and Venus even thought of growing was because the rain had finally let up and they grew with no problems. I even saw quite a bit of dime-sized pumpkins/gourds and.. Guess what? It has started to rain daily now. I'm hoping these two will make it but we'll see.
Weather forecast - Rain and more rain on the way.
