How to f**k up your place of work/education! For only £10!!!!
I am a big fan of the Mark Thomas Product on Channel 4. It's a shame the current series has ended but among the things he has done include:
Sending a tanker of Ethiopian water to Yorkshire Water's HQ to offer them help during the drought.
Projecting a huge sign onto the highly secretive MI5 Building which read "Sssh!, Don't tell anyone but this is the MI5 building"
Anyway he mixes comedy with investigative journalism. And every episode he takes on the Establishment and always manages to find a way of pissing them off. On the first episode of his new series he tackled the data protection act. From this act you can ask any company or institution to hand over ANY data they have on you for a small fee (around £10)
I think and hope you see where I am going on this. Mark Thomas went into McDonalds and did a Morris Dancer routine and then they requested the videos and got them! He also requested all the data the Home Office had on him, the "info pack" he received included internal memos discussing how to defamate him.
Now if like me you hate school or work you can make a bit of disruption and you get to find out if your employees are actually gathering any information you thought irrelevant or even "silly"
So me and some friends are going o put in a data protection request with our school just before the summer holidays, this will mean that anyone who has anything to do with any data held on us will have to stay in work and extra couple of days and sift through attendance records, internal memos, and even the records the School Nurse keeps on you every time you visit her. Now please don't try this unless you're about top leave, not because they will persecute you no! Because if you wait until the end they will have to gather seven years worth of data!
This will also apply for work, your employees may have physiological profiles on you or reports about your work ethic (Mine = The less you do the more you gain) Also if you school or office has CCTV cameras they will have to look through perhaps two weeks worth of back logged tape to find a grainy image of some twat in a coat that looks just like yours. (Note: Browse around first and see if a particular coat is owned by many people, this way the staff will get into a maelstrom of shock and befuddlement as they try to find any facial features on a Dutch Porn Quality Video Cassette.)
So please have a go it's harmless fun and it causes the people who pay/educate you great fun while you sit back and wait for some mail (We all like mail don't we)
