My art |
I normally work in ordinary gray pottery clay. It sometimes cracks and appears fractured which is fine with me, I rather like the idea of my little people being somewhat fractured...aren't we as real people at times somewhat fractured in our emotions and in our lives and relationships. I use a thin wire frame inside of my peices to prevent them from disassembling themselves should they fracture. Most of my work is done under circumstances of inspiration...if I just decide to sit down and make something I usually end up with nothing more than a lump of clay so I work when I can. Some of my work is pure emotion, and allows me to express what I am feeling at the time I created it. Only one peice has ever taken more than one evening to create. She was in my mind for seven years before I got her right. She and her children are pictured below. |

Mother Time, originally imagined in 1996 was finally created in 2003. She stands approx. 9 inches tall. She is pregnant, holding a toddler in her right arm, a youngster sits at her feet and an older child at her left side with her head and hand on her mother's belly waiting for the baby to kick. Her shadow and their future outstretched in front of them with plenty of bumps along the way of life. I've often heard of Father time and thought to myself if time were to have a form it would be female. |

You may click on the links below to view other peices of sculpture that I have created and chosen to share on this web site. I give a brief description with some detail and information about each peice, and at times share my thoughts about what a certain peice meant to me as it was being created but usually I find it more interesting to observe what others see or feel when they experience a peice of art. It's incredible how we as individuals can look at the same thing and each of us see something different in it. I would prefer that you look at each peice and decide what it is for yourself, or what emotion of idea or question it evokes in you. As for which peice of sculpture is my favorite...my favorite peice of sculpture is always the last peice I created. |
