The Attic
Tucked away in the attic These things have been found that leave a nostalgia and awareness, profound...
Old letters, now yellowed, With a ribbon tied tight, When love was the essence And everything seemed bright.
A Faded old program That told dreams of a dance, The waltz and the fox-trot In the days of romance.
A ring and a kerchief And a Bible now worn, All part of a wedding Before baby was born.
A shoe and a rattle, And some pictures of him, A pair of old glasses For old eyes that grew dim.
Yes, all of these treasures Were stored in a drawer; But in hearts now departed, They shall live evermore.
