THE RESULTS OF THE JPA AUTHORIZED HISTORICAL SURVEY
The Joint Powers Authority contracted with a consulting firm from Riverside (CRM Tech) to conduct an Historic Resources Survey even though the Mayor and Council had conducted a more extensive Historical Survey of the entire City of San Bernardino in 1991.
This newest survey targeted only Phase I homes and structures that are threatened by the lakes/streams/reservoir project. Of significant interest is that the newest survey only recognizes a little over 200 homes and structures as having Historical Significance, whereas the original study complete just nine years ago recognized thousands of buildings as having Historical Significance. This latest survey indicates there may be five historical areas to consider for preservation in addition to a list of less than 40 buildings outside of the five historical areas.
For your information, NAPA is providing this list of 200+ homes and buildings that have been identified by this latest Historical Survey as having significance. It is important to note that while your home may appear on one of these lists that does not in any way guarantee your home will not be targeted for destruction by the JPA.
