We raise dairy goats. Most of the time we try to keep with the LaMancha breed. Sometimes we cross with a Boer buck to give us big meaty kids with milking possiblities.
We also raise Buff Orphington Chickens. An old English breed that are good layers. The most important things about them are that they are calm and still set. They are wonderful mommas!
We have a small nursery and sell most of our open pollinated plants and chemical free veggies and herbs at the local farmers market. It is early in the second year of operation and it is looking better already.
We use raised beds and permaculture in raising all of our plants. We live on part of an old farm and with decades of soil washing down our hills there was no top soil left, so really there were no alternatives.
Our basic philosphy around here is to keep it simple, with both our lives and beliefs.
