This letter is an introduction to our group for homeschool families, and an aid for getting you started.

NOAH is comprised of seasoned homeschoolers and novices, with children of all ages. It is an organization of families devoted to the education of children in a home environment. Over 70 families in the Crestview, Baker, Dorcas, Laurel Hill and Niceville area of Okaloosa County are active in our organization.

Our website, contains information regarding activities, along with many helpful links and recommendations from others in our group.  If however, you would like to receive newsletters via regular mail, you can contact Charlotte Dunkle at [email protected] with subscribe in the subject line.  Please include name and address in the body of the email.  There is a $9 per year charge to cover shipping and handling.

NOAH is busy with a many  activities.  You can find several families at the Twin Hills Park on Fridays, and the library on various days.  Before the weather becomes unfavorable, many meet at the Foxwood Country Club to swim.  For those over the age of ten who like a challenge, chess club meets twice a month.  Plays and concerts at OWC and the Saenger Theatre provide a cultural experience for the family.  Occasional field trips, field day, and holiday celebrations, provide opportunities for the entire group to come together to share and enjoy one another.  NOAH is about the homeschooling family, and you are welcome to attend any and all activities on the roster.  We do require that an adult accompany all children.  If you have an idea about a field trip or activity, not already on the list, we encourage you to put it together.  There is surely someone else that would love to participate with you.

Many from our group attend Blended School.  It is a supplemental program offered to enhance your homeschool experience.  If you are interested, or would like more information, you may contact the Blended School office @ (850) 833-3889.

The Okaloosa County school board has a homeschooling packet available to explain Florida laws.  You can obtain this information by contacting Toni Kitchens-(850) 833-3144.  For more information about homeschooling in general, you can find great books, written by experienced homeschool families, at the local library.

Congratulations on your choice to homeschool.  It is an exciting and challenging experience, with many opportunities for enhancement.  Welcome and we look forward to meeting you and your family soon.  Please, sign up and join in.
