Scoring points: Infighting chapter
December 30 2001 at 9:01 PM akumo ------------------------------------------------------------------------- He's at your side. He's hugging you. Really annoys you. Throw an inside swing kick, "oh crap," got stuck on his shoulders. The ref. breaks you apart. Does this every happen to you? Does it annoy you? - The distance Know that... If you are in close, no points can be scored on you. But you can't score either. If you are a little apart, the inside swing can be put to work. But your opponent can do that also. The problem is, how often do you see CLEAN points scored off the inside swing? Rare. I mean FAIR and CLEAN points. Not just kick and then the judges think it's a point, so they give it to you. 2 techniques 1. The angle trick Before you tag, there you will have to rush in towards your opponent. Before you get there, swing around using your left arm to open up the stomach [assuming everyone kicks right] and half round with the right leg [your opponent will be ready for a tag]. The trick is to stay away a bit so that your opponent IS surprised. You cannot use your hand [noticed I used the word ARM] however, because technically that is a foul [although I've seen crappy judges give it]. 2. Defend and kick This is a bit of a melee, but it gets you the points sometimes. As you are tagging, stress both arms down the side protecting your flanks. Stay away at least half a meter so that when your opponent kicks, his SHIN hits you can you can defend using your arms. Now as you see the opening, kick the flanks left and right alternating. NEEDS: extreme speed [if you are slower, ONE KICK, and tag straight away] BENEFICIAL: if you are fighting a taller opponent [or the same height] both will work only if YOU CONTROL THE GAME.
