From a purely musical perspective, if ZONE is 1st in J-pop for me, then w-inds. is most definitely 2nd. I'm a huge fan of their songs in fact, and love almost every one of their singles. The first song I ever heard from them was "Super Lover ~I need you tonight~" which, despite the ridiculous name, ended up sticking in my head for many days before I decided to go get it. From there I got their albums one by one, and haven't stopped listening to them since. They sing a variety of songs but the disco dancy ones are probably my favorite hehe. Their songs have that crystal clear beat quality to them, which I only ever heard from the defunct J-pop group, EARTH. Lead singer and female heart-throb, Keita, has the highest singing voice EVER for a male artist but it fits the songs really well. Ryohei is one hell of a break dancer, and Ryuichi takes care of the majority of the rap parts and is the jokester of the group. They don't appear on many tv shows, but it's always enjoyable to watch when they do.
I've received various flak in the past for being a w-inds. fan cuz I'm a guy and they're younger than me by a few years. To that, I say that I really don't care :-p. People all over the world love basketball prodigy Lebron James and he's only like 19; it's all about the skillz. If you got em' then it doesn't matter who you are or what age, you'll get props from me. I think the w-inds. guys are pretty cool in fact, and especially Keita, since he was able to woo Aya Matsuura (or so the rumors say). I think they make a cute couple lol.
