| Korn formed in 1993in Huntington Beach California, when long time friends and Korn guitarists James "munky" Shaffer and Brian "head" Welch retured to there hometown of bakersfield for a visit and meet vocalist John Davis fronting the local band "Sexart", so they convised john whos day job was a coronor's assistant, to sing in the band which also included David on drumms and Fieldy on bass. Together Korn created intense phat grooves with heavy thumping bass, growling vocals and even the occasional bagpipes played by Davies. In 1994, Korn released their self-titled debut, which was ignored by the critics but adored by skaters, punkers and a great many disenchanted youths who could relate to the quintet's fierce and ferocious music NU METAL WAS BORN, propelled by the primal scratch of "Blind", the only song that recieved a modicum of radio play, and relentless touring --both in small clubs and in larger venues. Two years later Korn released the follow up album "Life Is Peachy" showcased a musically matured Korn with improved strong structures and slightly more pop tones creeping into their still very creepy tunes, far from radio friendly nearly every song includes profanity from the first single A.D.I.D.A.S (an acronym for All Day I Dream About Sex to the non stop cussing of K@#O%!"(a bunch of symbols that stand for the word Kunt or Cunt). In 1998 the bakersfield boy's released their 3rd album titled "Follow The Leader", Front man of Limp Bizkit and close friend to the band Fred Durst collabirated with Korn and the song "All In The Family" and Hip Hop/Rap Artist Ice Cube made a guest appearance on the track "Children Of The Korn", the stand out song on this album amd the first to be released off the album Freak On A Leash made Korns fan base as strong as ever. One year of Non-stop touring later Korn managed to find the time to make my personal favourite Korn album "Issues". With the heavyness of the songs like " Beg For Me " " Make Me Bad " "Wake Up" and " Somebody Someone ", and one short but amazing track "4U" made for the fans. Nearly 3 years later Korn brought out " Here To Stay" the first song off their 5th album "Untouchables", the video for "Here To Stay" was directed by the Hughes brothers and it showed mankind at its worst and best, the standard song on this album for me is titled " Wake Up Hate". The 9 years Korn have been around they have turned from a local pub band to headlineing the main stage at Lollapalooza 97 and Woodstock 99 and becoming the Daddy's of Nu Metal. |
