Will You Fight With Me?
Will you fight with me?
Not over whose turn it is to do dishes, or the clothes on the floor.
Will you fight with me?
Not about who is driving this time, or who unlocked the door.
Will you fight with me?
Not about the alcohol we drink, or the last bite of ice cream
Will you fight with me?
Not to see who is right and who wrong, or who is on whose team.
Will you fight with me?
Not about the side of the bed, or other nonsense frustrations.
Will you fight with me?
Not about your lack of commitment, or my unrealistic expectations.
Will you fight with me?
Not against me, but with me, against all temptations?
Against the usual, the typical, the mundane altercations.
For the hugs and the kisses and deep conversations.
For the bad times together and more celebrations
For the wonder, the joy, and all complications.
For the freedom to love, beyond limitations.
Will you fight with me?
