Once Spoken

ONCE SPOKEN

With brimming eyes and heavy heart
I hear the words you speak
Knowing well, that what you say
Once said, is mine to keep

The bitter sting of words alone
Keeps me crying in the night
I can't hold back, can't keep from tears
I'm falling from the height

Our love so strong, so conquering
Seems not enough to hold us
And every try, I've tried since then
Seems wasted, as though pointless.

We can't take back those moments when
My heart froze in midair
Just before it took the plunge
And cracked beyond repair

I think my heart will start to heal
Be put back into shape
But I know the scars will always show
Won't ever be erased

My love for you is still as strong
Grows stronger by the hour
And all our dreams which seem so far
Are still within our power

With deep breaths and baby steps
What's ours will grow to be
As long as we lean on each other
Every start will stay in reach.
