Leaving

LEAVING

Everything disappears
Slowly before my eyes
The clock ticks
Steadily on
As I watch you leave
You take down the memories
Fold them up and pack them away
Never to be relived again
As though these past months
Meant nothing to you
And as the tears roll down my face
Your stone-cold expression
Chills me to the bone
With each memory you tear down
Another brick is piled on the wall
I'm building against the pain
Brick by brick, memory by memory
I shut out the past
Block off the present pain and ensure that
You can't see the hurt you're causing
As you so casually leave
Me sitting here in tears
Holding my own broken heart,
And the bag of memories you packed away.
