Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal (November 9, 1877–April 21, 1938) was born at Sialkot(Pakistan). He was Shiekh by caste. He learnt Arabic and Persian from a great scholar of his time called Mir Hasan. His Poems please the young and the old alike. They give us the message of hope and success. Seeing the Mulsims in slavery, he was much pained. He has expressed the same sorrow in his verses. A major Urdu and Persian writer and poet, while at the same time being credited as a major force behind the creation of Pakistan. He incited them with his verses. He gave them the idea of a separate homeland. He is posthumously revered in Pakistan as Muffakir-e-Pakistan (The Thinker of Pakistan) or Shair-i-Mashriq (The Poet of the East).At that time, the people called it'the dream of the mad man'.  But Quaid-e-Azam converted it into a reality.               These books have been translated into many other languages.  He was deeply interest in religion. He delivered six lectures at Mardras, which ware later published under the title 'Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam'.

Allama Iqbal's genius was fully recognized by his nation in his life time. He was immensely popular among all sections of the Muslims. His poetry is as fresh even today as it was at that time. All sorts of people --Politicians, mystics, journalists and students-- cam to him for guidance and inspiration.

Shaheen kabi parwaz se tak kar nahi girta

Tera imaam Be-huzoor, teri namaz Be-suroor

Aisi namaz se guzar, aisa imaam se guzar

Sitaroon se agay jahan aur bhi hai

Abhi ishq ke imtihaan aur bhi hai

Keenaat na kar alam-e-rango bu par

Chaman aur bhi, aashyaan aur bhi hai

Agar kho gaya ek nasheman to kia ghum

Makamat-e-aho faza aur bhi hai

Tu shaheen hai parwaaz hai kaam tera
