YOUTH CLASS “Y” RULES A. No entry fee. B. Exhibitor must be Grade 9 to 12 in June. Indicate grade on entry tag. C. Exhibitor's name, address and parent's name must be on the entry tag. 1. Four pictures of your friends, mounted with captions 2. A Christmas decoration, any media 3. Item made from wood 4. Using a computer, design a poster to advertise the 2007 Fall Fair. Leave poster with secretary. Theme: “Family Day”. Fair will be held on September 14 and 15, 2007 5. Homemade Birthday card, no computer graphics 6. Gift in a jar 7. Any article expressing the theme “Home is Where the Heart is” 8. A purchased kit, finished, with kit instructions displayed with item (eg. model, cross stitch, etc.) 9. Homemade birthday gift for a friend (under $5.00) 10. “Your Favourite Recipe” display recipe and a sample 11. Small basket for a shut-in (contents under $5.00). 12. Party favor for an adult, must be ½ homemade PRIZES: $2.00, $1.50, $1.25, $1.00 SPECIAL: Exhibitor with most points in YOUTH (1-12) receives headphones and 16-CD Wallet donated by Modern Electronics and Appliance Centre, Hanover. 13. SPECIAL: STAMP COLLECTION A collection of stamps mounted on a piece of paper 21.3 x 28cm with a title. Include a 4 or 5 sentence explanation of your collection on the page. Put in a plastic project sleeve. PRIZES: 1st - $10, 2nd - $8, 3rd - $7 donated by Artistic Kitchens Ltd, Hanover 14. SPECIAL: Display your favourite hobby in a display no larger than 61cm x 76cm.(If your hobby can’t be displayed physically, a pictorial display representing your hobby will be acceptable) PRIZES: $6, 4, 3, 2 donated by Paul & Doreen Klages $1.00 for each worthy entry 15. SPECIAL: Scrapbook Theme Memory Page. Create a page (one side) for your scrapbook using a minimum of three photos and two scrapbooking medium (papers, stickers, punch outs, etc.). Page must be minimum 8.5” X 11” PRIZES: $5,4,3,2,1 donated by Linda & Garry Lantz 16. SPECIAL: Take something old and make it into something new. Include a 4-sentence explanation of the old item used. Eg. turn old barnboards into a picture frame, turn old jeans into a purse or skirt… PRIZES: $6,5,4,3,2 donated by Paul & Lana Diebel 17. SPECIAL: Fleishmann’S Yeast “Youth” Best Bread Contest. Label and recipe must be displayed with each exhibit. Judging will be based on appearance, taste, texture, and recipe creativity. First place winner to submit recipe, sign release, and submit self photo on Fair day to Secretary. 1st - $10.00 donated by Fleishmann’s and Country Fair Baking Contests, 2nd - $6.00, 3rd - $4.00 donated by Society 18. SPECIAL: GRADE 7 TO GRADE 12 – YOUTH POSTER The winning poster from each class will be eligible to enter the district competition. District winners are eligible to enter Provincial competition. Criteria: a. Theme: “Promoting your Fair” b. Must be hand drawn c. Poster size – minimum 28cm x 43.5cm (11” x 17”); maximum 30.5cm x 46cm (12” x 18”) d. Each entry must be mounted on a BLACK ART CARD to give a 2” border e. One entry per person f. Name of fair, district (#10), contact person, owner of poster, and school name to be clearly labeled on the back of each entry. g. Posters will be judged based on the following: I. Overall Appearance – 20 points II. Attract and hold attention – 30 points III. Competition theme clear – 40 points IV. Quality materials/end product – 10 points. PRIZES: $8,$6,$4
