PRESCHOOL and ELEMENTARY CLASS “SC” RULES AND REGULATIONS for JUNIOR FAIR A. No entry fee. B. Only for exhibitors under 18 years of age. C. Entries must be the work of the exhibitor. D. Pupils must exhibit according to their grade in June. E. A pupil may have only one entry in each section. F. Junior members of the same family may compete in the same section if so applies and rules 2,3,4 & 5 are followed. G. Entry tags must be filled out clearly, stating name of pupil, class (letters - SC/Y/CC), section (number), name of article, and name of school (if exhibiting by classroom), or parent and home address. H. Paper sizes are approximately 21.3 x 28cm or 8 1/2 x 11"; and 30 x 45cm or 12 x 18". I. All entries must be in the Arena by 12:00 noon, Friday and remain on display until 4:30 Saturday. J. The entry form must be forwarded to the secretary before judging takes place. K. If more than 10 entries in a section, section will be split. PRIZES: 1st-$1.50, 2nd-$1.25, 3rd-$1.00, 4th-.75, 5th-.60 unless otherwise stated SPECIAL: Top 20 Pupils with most points in Preschool and Elementary (1-62) will receive a voucher. PRESCHOOL & JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN SECTION 1. A crayon picture of trees on paper 20 x 25cm. SECTION 2. Five (5) hearts cut out and mounted on a paper plate. SECTION 3. A page from a colouring book (coloured). SECTION 4. Trace your hand and decorate it. SECTION 5. Red finger painting on paper, any size. KINDERGARTEN SECTION 6. Printing: Print the numbers 1 through to 10 on a plain sheet of paper. SECTION 7. Art: Painting of a sunny day on 30 x 45cm paper. SECTION 8. Craft: A paper bag puppet. SECTION 9. Language: A dictionary page with letter on right hand corner of page with at least 4 pictures cut out, mounted on 21.3 x 28cm paper. SECTION 10. A card for Valentine’s Day. GRADE 1 SECTION 11. Printing: Print on lined paper: Little boy blue, Come blow your horn. Sheep in the meadow, Cows in the corn. SECTION 12. Craft: Character made out of hearts, cut out and pasted on 21.3 x 28cm paper SECTION 13. Make an animal, named, out of or part of an egg carton. SECTION 14. Art: Make a picture "My Pet and I" on paper 30 x 45cm. SECTION 15. Cut and paste pictures from a magazine to make up your family – don’t forget to include your family pet(s) - on paper 20 x 25cm. Haystacks, 3 pieces, using the following recipe: ¼ cup butter or margarine ¼ cup corn syrup 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 tsp. vanilla extract ½ cup icing sugar, sifted 3 cups cornflakes In a saucepan, combine butter, corn syrup, and chocolate chips. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and icing sugar, mixing until smooth. Add cornflakes, mix well. Drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Let stand for several hours or refrigerate for 1 hour. Cookies must be no larger than 3” (6.75 cm) and no smaller than 2” (5cm) c. The entry must be tagged with the exhibitor’s name and address d. Lettering to be limited to 25 words or less. C. All entries must be clearly marked with age, name, mailing address, grade, and school name on back of bristol board in addition to completed entry tag. D. A representative from Grey County Farm Safety Association or the secretary is to receive the top two of each section as judged at local fair by October 15, 2006 E.
