Quiet Memories

I walk alone in silence
humming a familiar tune.
and fell upon a broken stone.
That once established a well formed path

my feet did tread noisily
under the fresh fallen rain
yet my solitude gave to me
quiet  memories

times spent with Mother and me
and the warm spirit she did keep
within her arms was my comfort place
her spoken words were melodies
a beauty surpassing everything
too me, her child and last born

and now my solace face has erased
confined patterns age has made
and high above the afternoon
the sun did show her rainbow view
just for me I think,
too gently guide me
through quiet memories

Like a tree, her love was a branch.
She touched the hearts of many.
Friend or foe her love grew
and her gentle hand
she freely would give.
I miss you Mother still to this day.
