Zeke, Page 10, A Celebration of Zekie's Gotcha Day!!!
One year ago today, Mr. Gorgeous, Happy Zeke, aka Zekie--the man came into rescue and into my life. Zekie was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, with a major tumor in his mouth, and at least 12-15 tumors in his lungs. He was given no more than 2 months to live.Well HE proved the vet wrong! Mind you he has had some major times of tumor rupture bleeds, on and off again on Prednisone and Rimadyl, and occasionally a pain killer but this boy has lived each day like there is no tomorrow. We have made sure that everyday with him is a joy.
He has been to each of our rescue meetings for a year, received numerous emails and snail mail (in fact mail carrier gets a kick out of his mail), has been to the mountains for Thanksgiving with our whole family, Christmas was a delight, the Bark in the Park (annual rescue get together) with hundreds of his fellow rescue dogs and even a parade, albiet in a wagon but a parade none the less!
Zekie has lived and continues to do so. We have celebrated each month all along as we never knew if tomorrow would come. We celebrated each eye wakening, each hello upon coming home, each tail wag, each cheerful eye at getting a new toy. We celebrate each little thing with him.
I want to thank you all for being there for Zekie with your advise, your thoughts and prayers and generally your support throughout this year.
