Procedure
- Pass out A-blocks to students.
- Have students look at the blocks
and explain that the blocks are called attribute
blocks and they are called this because they have
attributes or things about them that make them
different from the other blocks.
- Point out that there are different
shapes among the blocks. Shape is an example of
an attribute. Allow student to figure out other
attributes and list on the board.
- Explain that we are going to make
an attribute parade. Select a block and explain
that the block that follows should have 2
attributes that are the same and 2 attributes
that are different. Show example (a flat, small,
red, triangle could be followed by a small, flat,
blue, square)
- Lay out the first block and have
each student bring up a block to follow the one
in front of it. Have students describe their
block and explain how it relates by 2 attributes
to the one in front. Once each child has had a
turn, repeat parade with 3 attributes the same
and 1 attribute different.
