Q.2:-What is the itinerary for the First World Cup? Ans:-Three games a day scheduled over only three venues-Johannesburg,Durban and Cape Town. Matches are scheduled at 10 am,2 pm and 6pm(1-30pm,5-30pm and 9-30pm IST).There are four groups (India are in group D with Pakistan and Scotland.)

Rules of Twenty20 cricket

Groups

ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 will be the first edition of the Twenty20. Twelve first class teams are competing in this most awaited cricketing event. All the 12 participating teams of the tournament have been divided into 4 groups namely group A, group B, group C, and group D each group has three competing teams who will fight for the trophy.

Group A of ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 has West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh. Their matches will be played between 11th to 13th September 2007. Memebers of Group B are world champions Australia, England and Zimbabwe.

ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 Group C has New Zealand, world cup finalists Sri Lanka and Kenya as its members and members of the final group-Group D are Pakistan, India and Scotland. The matches will be played at three venues are Kingsmead in Durban, Newlands in Cape Town and the Wanderers in Johannesburg. All the matches including group matches, super eights, semi- finals as well as the finals will be played at these three venues only.

Two qualifiers from each group will enter the super eight stages where they will play intra-group matches. Finally the top four teams will enter the semifinals from where two teams will proceed to play the final match of the prestigious ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007.

The first stage that is the group matches of the ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 would be held during September 11-15th, 2007 at South Africa. All teams in the four groups are listed below:

How Net Run Rate is calculated



In each group first two teams are numbered 1 and 2. Irrespective of fact whether they finish round on first or second position in their group, they will retain this position for next stage that is the Super Eights stage, unless and until they are knocked out by the last team in their group. In this case the last named team will replace the position of the team they have knocked out.

Schedule

ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 Schedule to be held in South Africa was announced on March 29, 2007. The inaugural tournament will run from 10 - 24 September 2007. Hosts South Africa and the West Indies are said to open the Championship as they will play each other on Tuesday 11 September at famous Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 teams are expected to arrive in the South Africa five to seven days before the start of the ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007. According to Twenty20 schedules two days have been reserved so that team can play warm-up matches for practice.

The ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 will see a total of 27 twenty20 matches will be played from 11th to 24th September, in three world-class stadiums at diverse venues in the South Africa. The Group Stage Matches will be held during September 11-15, 2007. Super 8 Round Match Schedule are fixed for September 16- 20 whereas the Semi-finals Match are scheduled for September 22.
