US Air Force
The Civil Air Patrol is the Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Since it's founding in 1941, CAP history has been filled with dedicated volunteer service: everything from coastline defence in the Second World War, to damage assessment and management of the 9/11 attacks, to the recovery of the spaceshuttle columbia, to the relief efforts of hurricane Katrina. Not to mention the countless search and rescue missions, and the efforts to better our communities, nation, and youth.
The Civil Air Patrol has three primary missions:
Air Education and Training Command
Air University
CAP-USAF
Civil Air Patrol
Southwest Region
Emergency Services
New Mexico Wing
This includes: Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief, Communications Networking, Counterdrug, and our newest mission, Homeland Security.

Aerospace Education
Since the Civil Air Patrol was first concieved in the 1930s, it has always had the intention of being a public educater for aerospace.
Although CAP is not a 'flying club', it is a strong advocate of public flight. As such, CAP offers many flight programs to its members as well as basic education to the public through schools, events, and simply by informing those who are interested.
Cadet Programs
CP is one of the most extensive and valuable training programs the Civil Air Patrol has to offer. Cadets are trained in an Air Force environment, developing skills in leadership to help benefit their futures.
Unlike a JROTC program, CAP Cadets can not only learn roles in leadership, but they can also take part in advanced training. This can be flight schools or emergency services training. Cadets can even qualify to participate in actual missions and help save lives.
