Amcotts, an extract from Whites Gazeteer and directory of Lincolnshire 1842

Amcotts, a village and township, in Althorpe parish, on the Trent, 4.5 miles E. by N. of Crowle, and 3 miles S. by W. of Burton Stather, contains 359 souls, and 1991 acres of land.  Sir Wm. Amcotts Ingliby, Bart., is Lord of the Manor and owner of all the soil except one farm, belonging to Mr. W. Fletcher, and 122 a. allotted in lieu of tithes, at the enclosure.  Here is a small ancient  thatched Chapel of Ease (St. Thomas a Becket and also two chapels, belonging to the Wesleyan and Primitive Methodists.  The poor have £1. 18s. a year, left by Wm. Barker,  H. Hodgson, and N. Belton.
