A poem we learned a couple of years ago comes back to me often when I am trying to do something. The poem goes like this:
Work by the yard is hard,
but work by the inch is a cinch.
The prospect of facing a new year of homeschooling is often overwhelming, and looking at the requirements set out by the Department of Education makes it seem that much more overwhelming. I believe, however, that if we take the time to look at the requirements bit by bit they become much more manageable. I have attempted to help you do this by creating this web site. Take your time to work your way through the site. Don't try to get it all figured out in one day. Take it one small bit at a time and you will soon realize that it's not as difficult as it seems right now.

As of July 2003 the Department of Education has listed outcomes for the following subject areas for Grade One:
Language Arts
Math
Science
Health
Religion

Clicking on the different subjects will bring up the outcomes listed for those subjects.
