Luke�s Laura walks in and looks around. The lights are dim and there isn�t anyone else in the room. Laura: Luke? She walks over to the bar and glances behind. Luke? The lights come on. She looks around. The room is decorated with little eggs and storks. Luke? Luke walks out. Luke: Hi honey. He smiles. Laura: What�s going on Luke? Luke: It�s a baby shower? Laura: For who? He glances around as if to say who else. Luke? Luke: For you! For us! Laura: Luke I never agreed to this! Luke: Oh come on Laura. This was supposed to be fun. I�ve gotten you to remember how much we used to be in love. Let�s just have some fun and see what or who turns out. Laura: Don�t you think I�m a bit old to be a mother? I have sons that are over 21! How do you think they�ll feel. Luke: Lucky and Nikolas love Lulu. I�m sure they�d love another sibling. He walks over to her. Can I have this dance? She stares at him for a moment and nods. He walks over to the juke box and pushes a button. Children�s songs begin to play. Laura starts laughing. Laura: You really expect me to dance to this? He walks over to her. Luke: We don�t have to dance. He leans in and kisses her. Smiling, she kisses him back. Zander�s Apartment Courtney: Where�s Olivia? Zander: Trying to find a job. I don�t know why Elizabeth won�t give her another chance. Courtney: I know, it�s crazy. I hope she finds a job but I miss working with her. Zander: You two only know worked together for a day! Courtney: I know. I just really had a good time. She�s a great friend. Zander smiles. Zander: I can see that. She really thinks a lot of you Courtney. Courtney: That�s good to hear. I think the same of her. She�s not as bad as people think, they just won�t give her a chance. Zander: You don�t have to convince me of that; I already know how great she is. Courtney smiles. She appreciates people as not other person would. Courtney: True. She doesn�t think of me as Sonny�s little sister. I don�t even think she cares. Zander: I don�t. You�re nothing like your brother. As much respect as I have for him, you�re definitely much more fun to hang out with. Courtney laughs. Courtney: Could you imagine Sonny hanging out? She lowers her voice and makes it raspy. He guys come on over and I�ll show you my gun collection. Or this one, hey do you want to go out to eat, I�m sure I can find us somewhere we can�t be shot. How about this, hey do you guys mind if my bodyguards hang with us? Zander laughs. Zander: That was a good one. But you really do like your brother don�t you? Courtney shrugs. Courtney: Yeah I don�t mine him so much. Like he�s very protective, which is why I wanted to move out and live with Livy, but he�s not a bad guy. He has a hard time showing how much he loves people. Zander: But he�s a really good friend to people. Courtney: Yeah I�ve seen that with you and Alexis and Carly. Zander: Carly�s different. Courtney: For many reasons. Anyways, I really wanted to have a birthday party for Olivia, she said its next week. Zander: It is! I need to think of what to get her! Courtney smiles. Courtney: I�m sure you�ll come up with something. I would really like to invite everyone, do you think they�ll come? Zander: Like whom? Courtney: Emily, Peter, Toby, Lucky, Liz, Gia and Nikolas. Zander: I don�t know. Courtney: Is that going to be okay with you cause I know you used to date Emily. Zander: But I�m perfectly happy with Olivia right now. Olivia: Well that�s good to hear. She runs over to him and kisses him as she wraps her arms around his neck. Courtney smiles. Ned�s Room Ned: Come in! Paul and his family walk in. Paul, Jenny, wow this is a surprise. Jenny: Felicia found us. Felicia: Hi there. She smiles and walks over to the bar to get a drink of water. Jenny walks over and hugs Ned and kisses his cheek. Ned: Wow is this Susan. Susan blushes. How old are you now? Susan: Nineteen, I attend PCU. Ned: Wow that�s great. And who are these little guys? Jenny: This is Matthew, you must remember him and these are my little ones Jill and Carrie. Ned takes Carrie from Jenny and looks at the little girl. Ned: She�s beautiful. They�re all beautiful. So what�s up? Why did you suddenly decide to come back to Port Charles when you swore you never would? Paul: Felicia came to us. Ned glances back at Felicia, who stares pointedly at the children. Ned: Em! Emily walks in. Emily: What�s up Ned? Ned: I don�t know if you guys ever met Emily. Em, this is Paul and Jenny Hornsby and their children Susan, Matthew, Jill and Carrie and their nephew Sly. Guys, this is my cousin, Monica and Alan�s daughter, Emily. Jenny walks over and hugs Emily. Jenny: It�s lovely to meet you dear. Most of your family is so wonderful. Emily smiles. Emily: She�s got the right idea. Ned: I figured that since you and Susan are the same age that you guys wouldn�t mind taking care of the kids so we can talk. Emily: Sure! Come on Susan. Susan smiles. She takes Carrie from Ned and leaves. Jenny: Sly do you mind giving us a moment? Sly: No, I�ll just see if I can go find my favorite hang outs. Paul slaps him on the back as he leaves. Felicia: Ned I was working at the Outback yesterday. Ned: Is that supposed to be something new? Felicia rolls her eyes. Felicia: You�ll never guess who walks in? Ned grows concerned. Tracy. Ned: Tracy�s in town? He rubs his forehead. Do you think she had anything to do with the mansion? Felicia: Luke seems to think so. Jenny: Ned, how is your family doing? Ned: Thankfully Grandfather wasn�t there. He and Grandmother are still being looked after by nurses but they�re here now. Monica and Alan came out all right as did I in the end. Skye�s possibly paralyzed and AJ has yet to wake up. Sonny should be released from the hospital today and Jax has a broken arm. And as you have already noticed Reginald is back to his regular duties just in a different place. Ned sighs. Other than that� Paul: We�re sorry to hear that. Ned: And also sorry to hear that my mother is back too? Paul: Yes that too. Felicia: Luke and I were concerned because your brother Dillon wasn�t with her. Ned: Well I�m sure she has him stored away at some private boarding school by now, he�s what eleven? Paul: Ten. Ned nods. Felicia: Do you know where he is? Ned shakes his head. Ned: I never hear from Tracy unless she�s in town. Considering that I was the one who got her sent out of town last time, it�s not likely she�s here to see me. Paul: Do you want to work with us in figuring out where Dillon is? Ned glances from one person to another. Ned: I�m actually in the middle of something else right now. He thinks for a moment. Felicia, if you could get me a meeting with Luke, I would be happy to go into further discussions with all of you. He glances at his watch. However, I have somewhere to be. Emily�s Room Emily: So what are you majoring in at PCU? Susan: Political science. It�s really interesting. I�m thinking of going into law or politics or something like that. My mom used to be a lobbyist. Emily: That�s cool. I was planning on going to college but I had to go to the hospital after a train crash. I�m hoping that I still can apply and go. Susan: You should go to PCU with me. Emily: I�m not sure that would be allowed. Apparently the Quartermaine�s don�t go to PCU. Susan smiles. Susan: I do remember the Quartermaines being a little stuffy. Emily looks at her curiously. I used to live in the mansion years ago. Well, kind of. My dad was married to Tracy Quartermaine and my mom, Jenny, she�s really my step-mom, she was married to Ned Ashton. Emily: Wow that had to be strange. Susan: It was. There�s knock on the door. Peter, Toby and Liz walk in. Emily: Hey guys! Emily walks over to Peter and hugs him. Peter, Toby, Lizzie, this is Susan Hornsby. Susan this is my best friend, Elizabeth, my boy friend Peter and his best friend Toby. Susan: It�s nice to meet all of you. Emily: So how old are your siblings? Susan: Matty over there�s the oldest, he�s nine. Jilly is four and Carrie�s just one year old. Emily: And I thought my family was large. I thought Nikolas was coming over. Peter looks down. Liz: I don�t know where he and Peter won�t tell me. Peter: Let�s just say he�ll be back in a little while. Liz: Anyways Jason wanted to know if we wanted to meet him for lunch and I figured we could all go out. Lucky said he�d have to meet us there. Emily: Actually, Susan and I are in charge of her brother and sisters for the day so we�ll probably take them to a kiddie restaurant. Matthew: I�m not a kid! He looks up at Susan who puts her hand on his shoulder. Susan: Matty hates being treated the same age as his little sisters. It�s hard with Sly and I being so much older than him and Jill and Carrie being so much younger. Toby: I could see that I come from a rather large family. Liz: How about we meet up and go shopping later. Emily: Sure but I�m sure Peter and I would like some time alone soon. Peter looks down at his feet. Peter: Yeah maybe. Liz: Come on then guys, come meet Jason, he�s really great. Courtroom Alexis: The defense rests you honor. Judge: Prosectution, you may call your first witness. Soctty stands and glances at Ned, who nods. Scotty: The prosecution calls Rae Cummings. Jake: What is this all about? Alexis: She�s Skye�s mother. Don�t worry in a few minutes I�ll make mince meat out of her. Jake nods slowly. Bailiff: Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Rae: I do. Scotty: What is your relationship with Ms. Skye Chandler-Quartermaine? Rae: Skye is my daughter. Scotty: What is your relationship with the defendant? Rae: He was my stepson. The audience in is shock. Alexis presses her lips together. Scotty: So it is possible that Dr. Caldwell knew who your daughter was? Rae: I know he did. I introduced them. A gasp comes from the audience. Ned looks pointedly at Alexis. Skye though I should have nothing to do with Jake, especially since his father, Patrick, wanted nothing to do with him. He hated Skye equally as much. Scotty: Why did he hate Skye? Rae: Jake is a very trouble man. He moved around a lot, leading Skye to believe that he was doing something against the law. She tried to prove that he was not a true doctor which to this day has not been solved. Scotty: What can you tell me about October 23, 2001? Rae sighs, looking sad. Rae: Jake is also schizophrenic. He takes medication for it so that he�s all right. Only one week in his life since finding out about the illness has he not taken the medication. October 23 was in that week. Jake lost a patient of his that week. She apparently was going for a walk and fell down the stairs at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. Skye tried to convince everyone that Jake was involved in Mrs. Klein�s death but could not find any evidence. She went to talk to him at his apartment and he tried her up in a chair and left her stranded in a removed cottage. Alexis: Objection, none of this was ever proved! Judge: I�ll allow it. Scotty: Prosecution rests. Alexis: (mumbling) Are you taking your medication now. Jake: Yes! Alexis rolls her eyes. Judge: Your witness. Alexis stares at Jake for a moment and stands. Alexis: I would like a moment to confer with my client. The judge sighs and look at her watch. Judge: Fine, I have other trials. You have until tomorrow. We will resume at noon. Somewhere in Russia Jax: We�re getting nowhere Nikolas. You have no idea where they could be? Nikolas: I only lived with the Cassadines until I was eighteen and I never knew Tony and Alexandria. Jax sighs and sits down on a bench. Jax: We could really use Alexis. Nikolas: Ned doesn�t want her getting involved and you know I don�t either. I�d rather she never remembered that time of her life again. He sits down next to Jax. I just feel so bad. I�m the prince but that�s only because of what Alexis did for my and what my uncle did for me. Jax: We�ve never gotten into something we haven�t gotten out of better than we planned, fab four or no fab four. Right now what�s important is Chloe. Nikolas sighs. Nikolas: Do you think we should call home again? Jax: No wait I have an idea. Cottage Lois: Brooke and Michael seem to be having a wonderful time. Kristina, Carly and Lois are all sitting on the couches and chairs drinking coffee. Carly: You don�t know what a relief this is. I couldn�t stand to live with my mother anymore and I really didn�t want to live by myself. Kristina: Hey did you see what we got you yesterday? Carly: Yeah I tried on that red top. Lois: Red really looks good on you. Carly: Does it? Anyways I was thinking that we might want to spruce up the place a little bit. I mean its so�. so white. Kristina glances around thinking about that. Lois: Yeah but that�s how Brenda liked it. Carly: But Brenda�s not around. She doesn�t live here anymore. Kristina looks between the two. Lois: Brenda was my best friend, that�s why I wanted to live here. She looks at Kristina. What do you think? Kristina: Well I usually love to rearrange things and I do have to agree with Carly, this place could use some changes. She bites her lip. But if you really don�t want us to, I guess Carly and I will just have to deal. Lois puts down her cup and walks over to the mantle. Lois: There was a picture of her and Jax right here. Next to it was a picture of her and Julia and Olivia. And then there was a picture of us two at an Eddie Maine concert. Carly: Ned really is a good singer. Lois: Isn�t he? She smiles to herself. It is different without all of that. She sighs and turns to the others. I guess it�s probably better if we do change things around a bit. I mean this will always be partly Brenda�s cottage to me but you�re right, she�s not coming back. Kristina looks back sympathetically. Kristina: Lois if you don�t want to. Lois: No it�s fine. The doorbell rings. I�ll get that. She opens the door. Jerry! She hugs him as he spins her around. He puts her down, looks into her eyes and kisses her. Jerry: I�ve been waiting two months to do that. She kisses him again. As she stares into his eyes, Jerry notices Carly and Kristina staring at him. Hey Carly. Carly waves. Lois turns around smiling brightly. Lois: Jerry this is my other housemate, Kristina� Jerry snakes his arms around Lois�s waist. Kristina: Carter or Cassadine works just as well. She smiles. Lois: She�s Alexis�s sister. Jerry: Well then I�m a big fan of your sister. Lois: Jerry Jacks is Jax�s brother. Kristina: Well then I�m a big fan of your brother. Jerry: Isn�t everyone. Lois turns around and takes his face in her hands. Lois: Well I�m a big fan of you. Jerry smiles. Jerry: Aw. He kisses her. Julia�s Apartment Alexis: What were you thinking? Scott�s a good lawyer, did you think he wouldn�t find this out? Jake: Thus making you a bad lawyer, why didn�t you find it out? Alexis: Because I trusted you! You had me believing that you were telling the truth! Jake: A good lawyer would have objected, kept this all from coming out! Alexis: I didn�t even know about it! What was I supposed to do? All Rae did was tell the truth. You told me you never knew Skye! Jake: You�ve never had a client lie to you? Alexis: Not that blatantly. We had a relationship. I didn�t think someone that I was involved with would keep something like this from me! Jake: Fine then, you�re fired! Alexis: From what? Jake: From this case. I�ll find myself another lawyer who can handle all of these ups and downs. Alexis: I�m not the best lawyer in the state of New York for no reason. He glowers at her. Jake, don�t fire me. I can handle this. I�ll figure out some way. Jake takes her shoulders and stares into her eyes for a moment. Jake: No! With that he throws her against the wall. She stares at him, shaking. He walks toward her. Do you really think I�m going to let you get away with causing me to lose my license and my job? He stops in front of her. Did you? Alexis: Jake, that was not my intent. He slaps her across the face. Jake: The hell it wasn�t! He walks away. Alexis: If you would just listen to me then we can fix this. She touches her cheek that is bleeding and winces. She looks up at him. We can fix this. Keep taking your meds and this will all go away. She presses her lips together. We had some fun together why can�t that go on? Jake: Oh yeah sure, you destroy my life, why don�t I marry you? She walks toward him. No, stay away from me. Alexis: Jake� Jake: Why can�t you leave it alone! My problem is not your problem! Why couldn�t you protect me? Why did you let my life be destroyed? I didn�t hurt her! Why? He grabs her and throws her on the ground. She hits the desk as she falls. I hope you learned something from this. He kicks her as he walks out. Alexis lies there writhing in pain as she slowly falls out of consciousness. PC Grille Bobbie: We should do this more often, we never get together anymore. Felicia, Monica and Laura nod. Felicia: I called Alexis and invited her but I never got a hold of her. I hope that case isn�t taking too much out of her. Bobbie: Well Skye�s enough to drive anyone crazy. Felicia smiles. Laura: I meant to ask you Bobbie, how are you doing? Felicia and Monica exchange a look. Bobbie sighs. Oh I didn�t realize. Bobbie: That�s okay. She looks at everyone. Jerry�s getting married. Felicia�s mouth drops. To Lois. Monica: Ned�s wife? Bobbie: Ex-wife. Monica: Well yes that�s what I meant. She glances at everyone else. Wow, that�s surprising. Laura: Apparently she met him when she was touring with some group in Austrailia. Bobbie: And Brooke Lynn�s fallen in love with her new almost step-daddy. She takes Monica�s hand. Don�t worry, no one could ever take Ned�s place in her life. Monica: I know that. He loves that little girl so much. Bobbie: Lois moved in with Carly and Kristina, Alexis�s sister. Felicia: Lois is living with Alexis�s sister? Monica: Oh you know Lois, she loves Alexis. She thinks Alexis is wonderful. It�s cute, it really is. Felicia: Speaking of Jerry, guess who I heard from yesterday! Laura: Who? They laugh. Felicia: Miranda Jameson! Bobbie: Jax�s ex-wife? Felicia nods. I remember her! Felicia: Yeah, she and I were good friends. Laura: Felicia, you�re good friends with everyone! Monica: Speaking of, where has Lucy disappeared to? Felicia: Should I invite her next time? Bobbie rolls her eyes. Oh Bobbie, get over it already. Bobbie smiles. Laura: Of course, invite Lucy. Why not? Bobbie and Monica�s beepers go off. They glance down and at each other. Bobbie: Sorry to cut this short. They stand. Monica: We�ll do it again. They rush out. Laura and Felicia look at each other. Laura: Well we might as well eat. Felicia smiles. Felicia: Sure why not? Tenth Floor Board Room Alan: I didn�t know you knew Jake Caldwell at all! Rae: I�m sorry, I didn�t think it would be important. I didn�t even know this was going on until Ned called me. Alan flips around and stares at Ned. Alan: How did you know? Ned: I didn�t, but we were losing badly so I went in search of things and something in the back of my mind said there was something I was missing. Rae: So he called me, it�s really not that big a deal. Skye: Well it was obviously that Alexis didn�t know. Jake wasn�t even being honest with his lawyer. Think people will trust me now. They look at Scotty. Scotty: I don�t know. At this point it looks very good for us. Rae: But I still need to testify. Scotty: You need to remember the entire time she�s cross-examining you that you love Skye. She�s your daugher. Rae looks uncomfortable. Rae: I don�t want to Skye. Skye: You don�t love me? Rae: No dear I just don�t want to pretend that we always got along. Skye looks sad. Alan: Oh Skye come off it, you know that you weren�t an angel when you came here! Skye: I know Daddy but I�ve changed. My brother is in the hospital! I�m paralyzed and no one still believes me. Ned: It�s sounding like the boy who cried wolf. Skye: I thought you were into helping me. Scotty: That�s only to get back at Alexis. Ned: No. He pauses. I did it for family. Skye is my family and it is my job to do what is best for my family. Rae and Alan glance at each other. Rae: Ned, if you�re feeling bad. Ned: Rae, let it go. What�s done is done. Anyways, the jury needed to hear this. It�s important for them to realize who Jake Campbell truly is. There�s a knock at the door. Reginald: Mr. Ashton, there�s a phone call for you. Ned nods. Ned: If you will excuse me. Alan nods. Ned leaves. Alan: So what�s the plan? Scotty: Finish off Rae tomorrow and then maybe cross-examine Bobbie again. Maybe there�s something we�re not seeing. I�d like to use AJ as a source but obviously that�s not going to happen. Alan: Speaking of which I should get back to the hospital. Scotty: Then we�re done here. Emergency Room Tony: We should send her up to surgery but I think she can stand a little time to stabilize before we put her under the knife. Bobbie and Monica look at each other and nod. Bobbie: What do you want us to do for the moment? Tony: Just clean up the room and let her family come in and talk to her. Monica: I�ll go see if I can find Kristina and Nikolas and you clean up the room. Bobbie: Fair deal. Monica turns to leave. Monica, let Ned in too why don�t you? Monica nods. Bobbie walks in the room. As she cleans, she fixes Alexis�s hair. Monica: Go on in. Kristina and Ned walk in. Kristina bites her lip as she walks over to the bed. Bobbie looks up at Monica and follows her out of the room. She takes Alexis�s hand as tears begin to roll down her cheeks. Kristina: I don�t know what to say. Ned leans against the wall with his eyes closed. She glances back at him and then back at Alexis. I spent so much time worried that eventually it would be Sonny that would land you in the hospital. I�m your sister and I guess I never really understood you. She bites her lips as tears roll down her cheeks. I�d like to try again Alexis. I love you. I want to be your sister, your best friend. Ned: Chloe�s her best friend. Kristina looks back at him with his eyes still closed. Kristina: Alexis� She bits her lips again. I�m sorry. She runs out of the room. Ned slowly opens his eyes and stares at Alexis. He walks over to the side of the bed, tears in his eyes. He reaches down and takes her hand, stroking it softly. He leans over against the bed and holds her hand against his head, his eyes closed.
