CHAPTER 8 �The Dinner Party� �Where the hell are Ned and Alexis I want to get this dinner over with.� Edward bellowed as he poured himself a brandy. �Do I really have to stay for this?� AJ walked up and asked Monica. �Yes!� She strongly stated before walking away from him. AJ slammed back his drink and looked over at Jax�s �Care for a drink?� �I�d love one� Jax replied back. �Don�t you dare give that Aussie any of the good stuff!� Edward demanded. �Oh Edward put a sock in it.� Said Lila. �Jax is a welcome guest in this house and you shall treat him as one.� Edward looked over and noticed Emily and Nikolas talking on the couch. �Hey hey hey.� He yelled waving his hands as he approached them. �You�re sitting way to close to my granddaughter now move over!� �Grandfather please!� Emily pleaded. �Edward leave then alone.� Monica yelled at him. �Hail hail the gangs all here.� Ned yelled over top of everyone as he walked into the room with Alexis on his arm. �He kissed Alexis on the top of her head and whispered in her ear. �I hope you know what you�re getting yourself into by marrying me.� �I love you!� She quietly stated back. �Would you like to tell us what was so urgent that you had to keep us all here waiting for you to grace us with you�re presence?� Edward demanded to know. �They were probably doing something sick and perverse.� AJ slurred out. �Sorry Junior but there�s no time for anything sick and perverse in our relationship.� Ned said as he took his arm out from behind Alexis�s back and walked over to the bar and poured himself a nice stiff drink. �Care for a drink sweetheart?� He then asked looking back at her. �No thank you.� Alexis replied as she looked away and walked over towards Jax. �Dinner is ready.� Reginald said as he walked into the room �It�s about time.� Edward bellowed as he wheeled Lila out of the room. �Great let�s get this show over with.� �Alright that�s enough AJ.� Monica said as she grabbed his arm. �If you really don�t want to be here then just leave.� AJ looked over at Alexis who was talking to Jax and then over towards Ned who was slamming a drink down his throat. �Sorry mom but not on you�re life.� He kissed her cheek. �Tonight looks to be one promising night!� �Alexis is everything okay between you and Ned?� Alexis looked over at Ned as he refilled his glass. His eyes caught hers as he turned around. Neither said a word as he looked away and headed towards the dinning room. �I don�t know Jax.� She walked off. �I really just don�t know.� ~*~ After dinner everyone began to gather back in the living room. �Anyone care for an after dinner drink?� Alan asked Monica walks over to him and they quietly begin to talk. �I�d say that was the most interesting dinner we�ve had in a long time.� AJ smirks as he holds his glass up to Alexis. Alexis looks away and goes and joins Emily and Nikolas on the couch. �So Nikolas what do you think about you�re aunt marring my grandson?� Lila politely asked. Nikolas puts his arm around Alexis �I�m all for any guy that makes her happy.� He looks over at Ned, who is once again standing at the bar fixing himself a drink, an gives him an evil type smile. �And if for some reason that guy has to be Ashton....well....what can I say there�s no accounting for taste.� Monica walks up behind him and jokingly states. �Watch it there Nikolas that�s your soon to be Uncle you�re talking about.� �He�s gotta be better then the one he already has that�s for sure.� Alan coldly remarks. Alexis got off the couch and tried to make her way over to Ned but AJ stepped in front of her and got into her face. �So Alexis are you sure marrying my cousin is really what you want to do? �She looks over at Ned� It�ll never last you know.� AJ looks in Ned�s direction as well �Ned�s a looser.� Alexis shook her head in utter disbelief. She was about to say something in Ned�s defense as her cell phone rang. She pulled out her phone and walked to the other side of the room. Ned watched her closely as she answered it. �Alexis Davis....this really isn�t a good time......what.....what are the charges....great you know the drill.� She turns her phone off and looks over at Ned who instantly looks away. Slowly she makes her way over to him and lays her head against his back. �Sweetheart I�m sorry but I have to go.� Ned didn�t say a word as Alexis made her way over to Lila. �Thank you again Lila for inviting us to dinner, it was lovely.� �I hope we can do it again my dear.� Lila replied. �I�d very much like that.� �Hopefully not anytime soon.� Edward sneered. �It was nice seeing you again too Edward.� Alexis replied back. �Goodnight everyone.� �Goodnight Alexis.� Monica said as Alexis followed by Ned made their way into the foyer. �Well if you�ll all excuse me.� Nikolas said as he got off the couch. �It�s getting late and I should be going as well. �Thank you for coming my dear boy, goodnight� Said Lila Emily quickly jumped up. �I�ll walk you to you�re car.� �You will do no such thing young lady.� Edward yelled Emily turned and looked back at her mother. �It�s fine Emily...goodnight Nikolas.� �Goodnight Dr. Quatermaine.� Emily and Nikolas made their way through the foyer and passed Ned who was holding Alexis�s arm. They all smiled at one another before Emily and Nikolas walked out the front door. �Why is it that man calls and you go running?� Ned yelled �Ned he�s in jail and as his lawyer it�s my job to get him out.� �Alexis he�s always in jail......... shouldn�t that tell you something about you�re client?� �Ned please.� She placed her hand under his chin and kissed his lips lightly. �Can we talk about this later, Sonny�s waiting.� �Lord knows you can�t keep Sonny waiting.� Ned coldly replied before turning and walking back into the other room. �But now you�re fianc�e on the other hand well....... that�s another story.......� Alexis started to yell after him as he disappeared into the other room but then she suddenly stopped herself, turned and walked out the front door. |
