-Chapter 7 L&B Studio Alexis had just wrapped up some contract negotiating with Juan�s agent when her cell phone rang: �Alexis Davis� �Your place or mine?� Sonny asked enthusiastically. �Well, I�m supposed to meet Jax for dinner at the Grille but I haven�t heard from him.� �Well, that�s a party I have no desire in crashing� he said sarcastically. �Be Nice. Let me call him and see what the plans are. You never know with Jax, Chloe might have tripped over one of her shoes again!� She and Sonny both laughed at the thought of Chloe tripping over her own shoes. �Well, call me and let me know� Sonny said. �I will� Alexis dialed Jax� number. �Hello� �Jax, are we still on for tonight?� �Alexis I totally forgot, I�ve been so wrapped up in Chloe and her ridiculous dreams that dinner slipped my mind.� �That�s ok, we will just get together another night.� �Are you sure? I�m really sorry Alexis.� �Jax, don�t worry�it�s fine. I already had a backup plan in the event that you stood me up.� �Oh yeah�like what?� Jax asked curiously. �I really want to wait and see where it goes before I talk to you about it� �About what Alexis? Are you going to see Ned?� �No, this has nothing to do with Ned. Look Jax, I promise I will fill you in later.� �You better! I�m dying to find out what is going on with you.� �Bye Jax� �Bye� ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Alexis� Penthouse Alexis hurried into her penthouse and picked up the phone to call Sonny. �Hello� �My place! But give me a few minutes to change out of these clothes!� �I was waiting for you to call. I thought you were going to call me as soon as you talked to that Australian� �I just did! Now come over.� �I�ll be there in a few� Alexis hurried upstairs to change out of her work clothes. She threw on some pajama pants and a tank top and pulled her hair up in a ponytail. She then headed back down the stairs to answer the knock at the door. She opened the door and noticed Sonny�s hands were full. �What do you have there?� �Spaghetti and meatballs� �Perfect. Where did you get it?� �I made them� he said with his dimples fully exposed. �Well, come on in. I�ll go get a bottle of wine out of the frig.� As they ate, they discussed their day. Alexis filled Sonny in on the terms of Juan�s contract, and Sonny filled Alexis� in on the new place Carly had found. �So, you want to watch a movie or what� she asked as she began clearing off the table. �Actually, I thought we could just sit down and talk� he said as he brought his plate into the kitchen and placed it in the sink. Alexis� phone began to ring. �Hey, you want me to get that?� Sonny said as he walked over to the table where the phone was. �No, just let it ring. If it�s important, they�ll leave a message.� �Ok� he said as he heard a dial tone on the machine. �See, I told you!� she said as she stuck her tongue out at him. �Now, was there anything in particular you want to talk about?� she asked nervously, hoping his response wasn�t going to be �us�.� Sonny sat down on the couch. �Actually, I was hoping you would fill me in on you and Jasper Jax.� Alexis walked into the room and took a sit next to him. �What do you want to know?� she asked very curiously. �Well, I heard that the only reason you married him was to save Chloe Morgan�s company. Is that true?� �In a nutshell, Yes, that�s the truth. It�s a long story that I really don�t want to get into.� �So, you weren�t in love with the Australian then?� �No I wasn�t, but I do love Jax very much. He is a dear friend of mine Sonny.� �I can live with that.� �So� Alexis said as she nervously fidgeted with the pillows. �Can I ask you something?� he said very seriously. �Sure� �About the night you moved in, are you sorry what happened between us happened?� Alexis was taken back by his question. They hadn�t talked about that night since it happened and she thought the subject was as good as gone. �Honestly, I can�t tell you how I feel because I can�t remember it.� �Do you want to remember it?� Alexis got up off the couch and begin to pace around the room. �Sonny, that�s a question I really can�t give you an answer to.� �Why not? It�s a simple yes or no question.� �Nothing is simple Sonny, but the truth is, part of me wants to remember it and part of me doesn�t. I feel like my wanting to remember is a betrayal to Ned and I�ve already betrayed him enough.� Sonny got off the couch and moved closer towards her. �Don�t fight your feelings Alexis.� Alexis didn�t say anything, she just looked down at the floor. Sonny lifted her chin with his hand. �I go to bed every night with the hope of remembering what happened between us that night. I�d give anything to remember the way you touched me.� Alexis turned away from him. �I can�t do this right now. It�s too soon.� Sonny grabbed her arms and turned her toward him. �What do you mean too soon.� �Sonny, I just got out of a relationship with a man I�ve loved and still love for almost four years. I can�t just turn my feelings on and off.� �I�m not asking you to Alexis. I�m just asking you not to deny what you feel for me�please, if you have feelings for me, tell me.� �I do have feeling for you, I really do, but it would never work. Our lives are too different.� �Alexis, we are two highly intelligent people, if there is a way to make it work, we can do it.� �Can we? I mean, can we really get past the fact that we are on opposite sides of the law?� �This isn�t about business, Alexis, this is about feelings and I�m falling for you�hard! Who cares who we are or what we do outside of this room?� Alexis ran her fingers through her hair. �I�m telling you, it can�t work and that�s that! Why can�t the fact that we have come to be friends be enough for you?� Sonny grabbed her hand and held it in his. �Is it enough for you?� Alexis looked down at her left hand where Ned�s ring use to sit and then back up at Sonny. �No, it isn�t� she said very softly. Sonny cupped her face in his hands. �Then, let�s give us a shot. Let�s see where this can go without holding a part of us back. If it doesn�t work out, we will at least walk away with one of the best friendships.� �I can�t give you my whole self until I have it to give to you. I�ll be honest with you, I don�t know what�s going to happen between Ned and I, and I can�t just turn my back on him. He is still a big part of me Sonny and I�m not ready to let that go yet. I have to deal with my feeling for Ned before I can even consider giving you all of me. Can you really live with that?� �Alexis, I would never ask you to do that. I know you are still in love with him and I understand your need to explore all angles of your feelings, I just want you to give me a chance. If you are willing to give me a chance, that�s all I need from you right now.� �Thank you Sonny. You don�t know how much that means to me� she said as she leaned in and kissed him on his cheek and then wrapped her arms around his neck. Sonny held her tight. �Well, it�s late, I guess I should be going.� Alexis broke their embrace and looked him in the eyes. �Stay with me.� Sonny was taken back by the words that had just came out of her mouth. He was too shocked to say anything. Alexis took him by the hand and led the way to her bedroom. Neither one uttered a word on the way up. As they made their way into Alexis� room, she finally spoke �I don�t want to give you the wrong idea. I don�t want to sleep with you�well, I mean I want to sleep with you but that�s all I want to do.� �Wait, I�m not following. Are you saying you want to sleep but not do the �deed?� he said with a grin on his face. �I�m saying I just want to hold you and for you to hold me. If you aren�t up for it, I understand.� �No, I�m flattered and I�d give anything to hold you tonight, I just got the wrong idea!� Alexis opened up the closet door and got out a pair of Ned�s pajama pants and a t-shirt for Sonny to put on. �Here, you can wear these� �I�m not wearing his clothes Alexis. What I have on is fine.� �I�m sorry, I didn�t even realize� she said as she crawled onto the bed and got underneath the sheets. Alexis' phone began to ring again. Alexis watched as Sonny took off his suit jacket and began to remove his pants. "You gonna get that?" he said as he removed his pants. She breathed in very deeply, not expecting him to take off his pants. "Uh, no just let it ring" she said breathlessly. He stood in front of her in his long button down shirt and briefs and she thought �wow, what a man.� Sonny walked around the side of the bed and got underneath the covers. He turned and gave Alexis as kiss on her forehead. �Goodnight� �Goodnight� she said as she turned on her side. She felt his arms go around her and pull her towards him. She didn�t try and move. She loved the feel of being in his arms. He laid there with her in his arms until they feel asleep, both thinking how amazing it felt to share such a tender moment with the other. |
