~~~ CHAPTER SIXTEEN~~~ Bedroom of Ned and Alexis hotel suite~ Ned is starting to wake up and jumps when he rolls over to find Alexis gone. Ned: Alexis: Alexis; I'm in the bathroom I'll be right out. Ned: Are you okay? Alexis: (walking out of the bathroom and sitting down next to him) Yea I'm fine but I don't think our son likes Chinese food. Ned:(smiling) Our son that sounds so good. (he places his arms around her and pulls her down on top of him) Alexis: As much as I'd love to make love to you right now, I think there is a little girl who really needs her daddy. Ned: Alexis what if Lois doesn't wake up? How am I suppose to tell Brooke she'll never see her mommy again? Alexis: I know it's hard but we have to think positive. (rolling off of him) Come on let's get dressed and get to the hospital. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ County Hospital~ Mr Cerullo is standing outside Lois' window when Ned and Alexis walk up. Ned:Any changes? Mr C: No but we almost lost her last night. Ned: I'm sorry, what happened? Mr C.: She had a heart attack.....I don't know how much more of this I can take. (he turns around and notices Alexis) Hello. Alexis: Hello Mr Cerullo I'm sorry to hear about your daughter......would you like me to get you some coffee? Mr C.: No thank you. Ned: Where's Brooke? Mr C. She's at home with Marie.(Mrs. Cerullo) Ned: How's Marie holding up? Mr. C: A lot better then I expected! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few hours later Ned and Alexis picked up Brooke and took her to the park. Brooke: Daddy can you push me on the swing? Ned; Sure I can (looking at Alexis) You coming? Alexis: No I'm a little tired I think I'll just sit here on the bench and watch you guys. Ned: okay I love you. Alexis laughed while she watched Ned play with his daughter. she couldn't remember the last time she's seen him so carefree and happy. Man: Alexis (she looks up) Alexis Davis is that you? Alexis: (getting up and hugging him) Jonathan, what are you doing here? John: I was about to ask you the same thing. (he looks down at her) Oh my god Alexis are you pregnant? Alexis: I am. John: Who would have thought the hard nose attorney that I lost so many cases to would end up married and pregnant! Alexis: well actually I'm not married. John: (very happy to hear that) Really! Alexis: You can stop smiling John I'm engaged to a wonderful loving man. John: well that's to bad....So what are you doing back in New York? Alexis: My fianc�e's ex wife was in a horrible car accident. John; I'm sorry (just then Ned and Brooke walk up) Brooke: Alexis did you see how hi daddy pushed me? Alexis: Yes I did! (looking at Ned) I think he was trying to scare me into having this kid early. Ned; I would never do a thing like that to you. Alexis; Yea right.......anyway Ned I'd like you to meet a good friend of mine Jonathan Michaels . John this is my fianc�e Ned Ashton. (they shake hands) John: Ned Ashton not the Ned Ashton of ELQ? Ned: the one and only, nice to meet you. Alexis: Ok now I'm curious how'd you know that? John: Well I just got back from a job interview with Edward Quatermaine who was complaining about his over indulgent, rock star Grandson Ned Ashton. Ned: that sounds like my grandfather. Brooke; (tugging on his pant leg) Daddy I want to go see mommy now. John: I'm sorry Alexis told me about your ex-wife. Ned: (picking up Brooke) Thank you......You mentioned something about a job interview? John: Yes your grandfather is considering hiring me as head legal council for ELQ. Ned: (shocked) really I had no idea he was looking for someone to replace Alexis. John; (shocked) Alexis? Alexis: it's a long story John maybe someday I'll tell you about it.(looking at Ned) Sweetheart we really should be great back to the hospital. Ned: yes we should, it was nice meeting you john. John: Same here (to Alexis) Hopefully we run into each other again......you look great. Alexis: Thanks bye. The three of them walk off and John can't help but watch Alexis. John: (to himself) you look great indeed! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Chapter Seventeen~ County Hospital~~~ Alexis and Ned, whose holding Brooke, are walking towards Lois' room when they spot Mr & Mrs Cerullo holding each other crying in the hall. Ned's face drops as he sees the look in his ex Father in laws face. Alexis quickly grabs Brooke and walks away towards the elevator. Ned watches her get on the elevator before walking up to them. Ned: (not wanting to know the answer) Is she? Marie: (crying loudly) Yes my baby is dead (she hugs Ned who feels like he just lost a part of himself) Oh God Ned why........why did this happen? Mr Cerullo places his head against the glass window and bangs it a few times before dropping to his knees. Marie runs over to him and holds him. Ned: I've gotta find my daughter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Outside the hospital~~ Brooke and Alexis are sitting on the front steps eating ice cream and talking. Brooke: When can I see my mommy? Alexis: (no knowing what to say) Your daddy should be here soon. Ned: (as if on cue) Hey I've been looking all over for you too. (he picks up Brooke) Is that ice cream good? Brooke: Yep. Alexis: (standing up) I'm sorry I just figured it would be easier if neither Brooke nor I were there. Ned: (lends over and kisses her) Thank you..... (to Brooke) So how would you like to see where Alexis and I are staying? Brooke: I want to see my mommy. Alexis: You know what I'm hungry. (Ned laughs slightly) What do you say we go back to the hotel and order pizza. Brooke; I want pepperoni. Ned: pepperoni it is......(mouthing to Alexis) Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hotel Suite~ Alexis just finished giving Brooke a bath and tucking her into bed. She walks out into the front room and sits on the floor next to Ned. Ned; Hey........you shouldn't be sitting on the floor. Alexis: Ned I'm fine I'm pregnant not......... Ned; Dead....... Alexis: sorry bad analogy. Ned: (kissing the top of her head) No I'm sorry........your not the one who said it......(he gets up and pulls Alexis with him) Come on I'd feel better if you were sitting on the couch. Alexis: (standing and holding him) Are you okay? Ned: Alexis how am I suppose to tell that sweet little girl in there that her mommy is dead........(yelling) It just isn't fair. Alexis:Ned you need to calm down the last thing you need now is to wake her. Ned: (sitting down on the couch and pulling her on his lap) You're right .............oh god Miss Davis I love you and I don't know how I'd get through out this without you. Alexis; Luck for you I'm not going anywhere. Brooke;(screaming from the other room) Mommy mommy I want my mommy!!! (they come running in) Ned: Brooke baby it's me daddy. Brooke: (screaming) I want my mommy! Ned: (looking back at Alexis and then again at Brooke) Brooke baby you're mommy is still sleeping. Brooke: When is she going to wake up. Ned: (crying) She's not baby. (Alexis walks up behind him and places her hand on his shoulder which Ned instantly grabs) Brooke; (crying) I want my mommy Alexis: your mommy is in heaven with the angles but she'll always be with you (she places Brooke' hand over her heart) right here and in your dreams. Brooke: I want my mommy.....daddy please take me to see mommy. Ned; (holding Brooke tight) I can't baby I wish I could but I can't. (Alexis lays her head on top of Neds and holds them both) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few days later Lois was buried. Alexis didn't attend the funeral instead she stayed back at the house with Brooke. Outside the church shortly afterwards. Ned: It was a lovely service. Mr. C: I can't believe she's gone. Mrs C: My poor baby. Ned: Alexis and I will be staying in town a few more days and then we will be taking Brooke home with us your welcome to....... Mrs. C: (yelling) You're not taking Brooke anywhere. Ned:(shocked) Marie she's my daughter. Mrs. C: Lois didn't want her raised in that house. Brooke lives with us and that's where she'll be staying. You gave up all rights to her when Lois left you. Ned: Marie Lois is dead and Brooke is still my child. Mrs C. (coldly) the only way your are taking my grandchild away from me is over my dead body. Mr and Mrs Cerullo leave as Ned just stands there dumbfounded! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Chapter Eighteen~ Mr & Mrs Cerullo walk into there house and are clearly upset to find Alexis playing Barbie's on the floor with Brooke. Mrs C: (walking over to Alexis and yelling) I want you to leave now! Alexis is shocked and doesn't know what to say as Marie bends down and picks up Brooke. Mr. C: Alexis I'm sorry for my wife's behavior it's just been a long day. I think it would be better if you just left. Alexis: No problem....I'll see you later Brooke. Alexis walks to the front door and opens it just as Ned is about to knock. Ned: (walking in) The conversation we had earlier is not over. Mrs C. (firmly) Yes it is! Mr. C: Ned why don't you just give her a few days? Mrs. C: (to her husband) I don't believe you......Brooke is my granddaughter and this is her home whether or not you want her here! Ned: (yelling) She is still my daughter and she will be living with me! Mrs C: Never. Brooke: (crying) Daddy daddy I want my daddy. Ned: (taking Brooke out of her arms) It's okay sweetie daddy's here and everything's going to be fine. (he turns to walk out) Mrs. C: Don't you dare walk out that door with her or I'll call the police. Ned: Fine call the police she's my daughter and they can't stop me from taking her. Alexis:(quietly) Ned honey they can. Ned: (confused) What? Alexis: You gave up all rights to her.......listen why don't we leave Brooke here and go back to the hotel. We can all get together later and discuss this. Ned: NO! Mr. C: I think that's a great idea. Come here Brooke (He tries to take her but Ned won't let her go) Alexis:(lovingly) Ned this isn't helping Brooke any.....look at her, she's scared......let her go. Ned: Brooke sweetie daddy's gotta go now but I'll be back tomorrow to see you. Mrs. C: No you won't. Mr C.: You can pick her up around eight. (Ned let's him take her but not before kissing her on the forehead) Ned: I'll be back first thing tomorrow morning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Park~ Ned and Alexis are sitting on a bench eating hotdogs. (or at least one of them are) Ned: I can't believe they aren't going to let me have my daughter.......this is the last thing I ever expected... Alexis: maybe they'll come around. Mr Cerullo didn't seem to object to you raising Brooke. Ned: Marie is going to fight me on this.......she somehow thinks that this is what Lois would have wanted. Alexis: Ned Lois would have never keep Brooke away from you and soon Mrs Cerullo will see that....(her cell phone rings) Alexis Davis. Stefan: Where the hell are you? Why aren't you back in Port Charles yet? I need to see you right away! Alexis: Stefan calm down. (Ned sighs at the mention of his name) I can't talk to you right now. Stefan: pardon me! Alexis: I'll be home in a few days. (she hangs up on him) Ned: What'd he want? Alexis: I don't know........forget him I'm worried about you.....(she jerks and then places his hand on her stomach) Can you feel that? It's your son.... Ned: I don't feel anything. Alexis: you don't feel that? Ned: No. Alexis: Well maybe it's to soon yet......Lord knows I can feel it.......(he smiles) Ned: (getting up and taking her hands) Come on let's get out of here and go back to the hotel. Alexis: Sounds great.....(she kisses him) I'm starved. Ned: Did I say anything about food? Alexis: Don't worry we can go upstairs after all there's always room service. (they begin to walk away) Ned: You know you keep eating like this Ms. Davis and you will be fifty pounds over weight. Alexis: Why do you think I want to get married after the baby is born? (Ned laughs) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Hotel Lobby~ Ned and Alexis are on there way up to their room when Alexis spots John. Alexis: John hi. John: Alexis (they hug) It's great to see you again......Ned. Ned: John. John: (to Alexis) Well congratulate me! Alexis: For what? John: Edward Quatermaine just called and offered me the position of head legal consular. (Ned sighs) Alexis: That's great! (they hug again) I guess that means will be running into each other more often since you'll be moving to Port Charles. (Ned rolls his eyes at the mere thought) John: Well see I knew taking this job would have it's benefits. Ned: (sarcastically and Alexis notices) Well welcome to ELQ. John: Thank you.....well I must be going. Alexis (he kisses her cheek, which cause Ned to give him an evil look) It's was great seeing you again. After I get settled in Port Charles will have to do lunch. Alexis: Sounds great! Ned: (quickly) I'll be looking forward to it. (Alexis slightly laughs) Come on sweetheart (he kisses her lightly on the lips) let's go upstairs you really do need your rest. Good night John. John: Good night. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hotel Elevator~ Alexis;(hugging Ned) I love it when you get jealousy. Ned: Whose jealousy. Alexis: You are (she kisses him) Ned: Me jealousy of him..........no way. (the elevator doors open and they step out) Alexis: yea right. (she walks ahead of him) Ned; (following behind her) I am NOT jealousy. Alexis: I love you Ned Ashton. (he stops short and she turns around) What? Ned: (pouting) I'm not jealousy. Alexis: (she walks back to him and puts her arms around his waist) Okay I'm sorry your not jealousy but I still love you. Ned:(kisses her on the forehead) I love you too. Alexis: (seductively) Good now let's go inside so you can show me just how jealousy you really are. She holds the key to the room up before she begins to walks off pulling him along. He grabs her, picks her up and runs over to the door of their suite. Ned: I'll show you just how jealousy I'm not! Alexis: (opening the door) Promises promises. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` ~Chapter 19~ A week has pasted and Ned and Alexis are back home. The Cerullos got a court order barring Ned from taking his daughter until the case is heard upon. The Gatehouse~ Ned is on the phone with Alexis. Ned: So how are you feeling this morning? Alexis: (whose at the office) Fine....I'm sorry I wasn't there when you woke up. Ned: Oh that's okay it was probably better that you weren't or I might not have let you leave. Are you going to be at the office all morning. Alexis: Most of it and then I need to be in court at 3:00. Ned: So I guess me asking you to have lunch with me today at the Grill would be out of the question? Alexis: (hearing the disappointment in his voice) I'm sorry but we could have dinner. Ned: Well dinner it is. (there's a knock at the door) Listen I have to go someone's at the door. Alexis: Ok bye I love you. Ned: Not nearly as much as I love you. (he hangs up and answers the door) Marie: Can I come in? Ned:Yes please sit down. Can I get you something to drink? Marie: No thank you.....I'm here to apologize to you Ned. I know my attitude hasn't been the ....... Ned: Marie you have no reason to apologize.You just lost your daughter. I loved Lois and I'm sorry things didn't work out between us but at least we ended up with Brooke-Lynn Marie: (quietly) Brooke is the reason I'm here Ned.......She's been miserable ever since you left. All she does is cry for her mommy and daddy. Now I may not be able to give her, her mommy but I can certainty give her her father. She needs you Ned she misses you something awful and I'm sorry for trying to keep you from her. I hope you'll still let me see her? Ned: Marie of course you can see Brooke anytime you want you know that. She needs her grandparents now more then ever. Marie: (getting up) Thank you so much Ned you know I still love you like a son dissipate everything. Ned: And I love you (they hug) Marie: Brooke is back at the hotel with her grandpa I wanted to see you alone. Will bring her home around seven. Ned: (tears in his eyes) Thank you ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alexis is in her office when she feels a sharp pain in her stomach and doubles over. After a few moments the pain seems to subside and she can breathe again. She decides to take it easy and go home. She's on her way downstairs and the pain suddenly strikes her again and she lends onto the railing. The pain is to strong and Alexis can't hold on causing her to fall down the stairs. Emily and Nickolas are in the back room when the hear the loud noise and coming running out. They spot Alexis lying at the bottom of the steps and run over to her, she's covered in blood. Nickolas: (yelling) Alexis.....Alexis can you hear me. (she doesn't respond) Emily can 911 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 45 Minutes later Alexis is brought into the emergency room. Nickolas is holding her hand and yelling at her to wake up. Monica comes running over. Monica: Alexis? Nickolas, Emily what happened? Nickolas: She fell down a flight of stairs Monica is she going to be okay. The paramedics and Monica throw back orders left and right while Emily and Nickolas stand in a daze form. Monica: Nickolas.......Nickolas Nickolas: What? Monica: You need to let go of her hand so we can roll her into a room. Bobbie comes running over and is shocked to see Alexis. Bobbie: What happened? Emily:(crying) She feel down the stairs at L&B. Bobbie: Oh my god the baby! Monica & Nickolas: (shocked) She's pregnant? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Chapter 20~ It's been over an hour and Nickolas and Emily haven't heard a thing on Alexis' or her baby's condition. Emily jumps up and runs over to Ned as he comes flying through the ER doors. Emily: Ned I'm so sorry. Ned: Where's Alexis? What happened? Nickolas: She fell down the stairs at L&B.....(tears in his eyes) Ned she was covered in blood. I had no idea she was pregnant. Ned: Have they said anything about the baby? Nickolas: We haven't heard anything..... Ned: What the hell's taking so long.........where's Monica? Emily: (hugging Ned) Mom's in the room with Alexis, I'm sure she'll be out soon. Nickolas: Sooner then you think. Ned and Emily turn around to see Monica walking towards them. Ned can tell by looking on her face that the news wasn't good. He got this feeling of lose in his stomach and dropped his head to his knees and screamed "NO", before sitting on the ground. Emily burst into tears and almost lost her balance but Nickolas caught her and held her tight. Monica ran over to Ned and bent down to hold him. She couldn't think of anything to say but he already knew their baby was "Dead". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After a while Monica picked Ned up off the floor and helped him to the couch. Nickolas and Emily just stood there holding each other in silence as the tears on their faces began to slow. Ned: How's Alexis? Monica: Physical she'll be fine . She bumped her head really hard but the EKG showed nothing wrong. She has some pain in her adman but that's to be expected. Ned: Is there anything you can do for the pain? Monica: She's been heavily sedated. Ned: Does she know? Monica: (quietly) Yes. Ned: I need to see her. Monica: Like I said she's been sedated but you can sit with her until she wakes up. Ned: Thank you. (they get up) Nickolas: Ned call me when she wakes up please. Ned: I will, you know she loves you so much. Nickolas: I know.......I love her too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ned has been sitting by Alexis bed now for over two hours. He's lost in his thoughts and can't stop crying. He doesn't even realize that Alexis is awake and starring at him. Alexis: (tears rolling down her face) I love you. Ned: Your awake.....(he kisses her forehead) How do you feel? Alexis: Like my whole world just came crashing down besides me. Ned: I'm sorry are you in pain....physical pain I mean. Alexis: All I feel right now is numb..........Ned.........our baby..... Ned: I know. Ned crawls into bed Next to Alexis and holds her tight, tighter then he's ever held her before. Ned: (through his tears) I love you Miss Davis. Alexis: (through her tears) I love you too Mr Ashton. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An hour later: Alexis: Ned I'm so sorry this is all my fault. Ned: Hey don't say that, it was an accident. Alexis:(crying) Maybe this is god' way of punishing me for almost giving up my baby. Ned: (stern) You listen to me Alexis Davis this is not your fault, so lets not even go there! They just lay there in total silence for a while both deep into there own thoughts and trying to be there for the other. Alexis jumps slightly when Monica walks in. Monica: Hey Alexis are you feeling any better? Alexis: The pain is mostly gone. Monica: (sad look on her face) That's good. Ned: (sensing something isn't right ) Monica what is it? Monica: I hate to ask this but Alexis have you been taking any kind of medication? Alexis: No why? Monica: Because your blood work just came back and they found drugs in your system. Ned: (shocked and upset) What........what are you taking about Alexis isn't on drugs. Alexis: (crying) Monica I'd never do anything to hurt my baby............Is that what killed my baby? Monica: It would appear that way....... Alexis: Oh god no........ Ned: I don't understand I thought it was the fall that made Alexis miscarry. Monica: Alexis told me she was having sharp pains before the fall. My guess would be that Alexis was already in the process of miscarrying before she fell. Alexis: So if I didn't fall down the stairs....... Monica: Most likely you would have still lost the baby. (Alexis looks down and Ned places his hand on her cheek) Ned: Why would someone want to drug Alexis?.................Who would want to drug Alexis? Alexis: Helena. Ned: (yelling) If she's responsible for killing our baby.................... I'll kill her! |
