CHAPTER 5

Alexis, Nikolas and Emily are in the waiting area of the hospital
waiting for news on Ned� condition as Lucky and Elizabeth show up.

�Emily thank god you�re all right.� Elizabeth yells as she runs over and hugs her.

�Hey can I get one of those?� Lucky ask

�I didn�t know you guys were here.� Emily replied as she gave Lucky a huge hug.

Lucky pulled her back and looked at her. �Did you really think I�d let some maniac run off with you and not come looking for ya?�

�Zander is not a maniac.� Emily yelled �He was just scared that�s all.� She added as everyone gave her a strange look.

Alexis was about to say something as the doctor walked up.

�Is my cousin going to be okay?� Emily asked.

�He�ll be fine.� The doctor replied.

�What�s wrong with him? Can I see him?� Alexis quickly asked.

�He basically went into a rare form of shock.� The doctor looks down at the chart. �Do you have any possible idea of what that could have been?�

�Some men attacked him at gunpoint and he accidentally shot and killed him.� Alexis replied.

�What?� Emily yelled. �When did this happen...who attacked him.�

�Liz Ned and I were looking for you and two of Sorrel�s thugs showed up at of nowhere.� Lucky replied.

�Can I see him?� Alexis asked

�When can we take him home?� Nikolas added.

�Well he needs to get plenty of rest but as long as you keep a close eye on him for the next twenty-four hours he�s free to go.�

�Thank you so much doctor.� Alexis replied as she headed for his room.

�Excuse me Mrs. Ashton.� The doctor said

�That�s Ms Davis.� She replied

�Sorry Ms Davis. I just wanted to let you know that it would help him a great deal if you got him to open up about what happened.�

�Thank you I will.� She said before turning and leaving.

�Lucky what happened to your shoulder?� Emily asked

�Oh it�s nothing just a small flesh wound.� He answered

�He got shot saving my life.� Elizabeth replied.

�Yea whatever.� Nikolas stated as he made his way pass the two lovebirds and gave Emily a big hug. �The important thing is you�re safe.�

�And we can all go home!� Elizabeth yelled as Emily�s mind drifted.

�Hey there good-looking can I come in?� Alexis asked as she stuck her head in Ned�s door.

Ned smiled up at her. �You better get that cute butt of yours over here and take me home.�

�The good news is the doctor said you could go home as soon as he finishes the paperwork.� Alexis stated as she walked over and sat on the bed next to him.

�And the bad news is?� Ned asked

�Well there�s a condition on your release.� She stated sadly.

�What�s that?� He replied not sure if he really wanted to know.

�Well you�re not going to like it...........In fact I can guaranty its the last thing you want to hear.� She stated with an even sadder look.

Ned took a deep breath. �Okay lay it on me.�

Alexis sighed. �Are you sure you really want to know?�

Ned shook his head. �Yes!�

�Okay then.� She replied while she shook her head as well. �The doctor said the only way you could get out of here is if.................Is if....... Well........�

�Alexis what, you�re killing me!� Ned yelled

�Is if I promised to watch over you and not let you out of my sight for the next twenty-four hours.� She replied through laughter.

Ned grabbed her and pulled her close and began tickling her. �Oh Ms. Davis you are so going to pay for that.�

�Promise.� She yelled through laughter.

Ned stopped tickling her and grabbed her face. �Promise.� He said before pulling her into a hot kiss.

�Excuse me I hate to interrupt.� An officer said as he walked in on them.

Ned and Alexis pulled apart from each other and Alexis stood up. �Officer what can we do for you?�

�Well I was told you reported a dead body.�

�Yes we did.� Said Ned. �Did you find him?�

�Actually sir we combed the area several times and didn�t even find as much as a crime committed let alone a dead body.�

�I don�t understand.� Ned yelled. �He attacked us and I shot him.� He looks over at Alexis and she takes his hand. �He was dead......I know for a fact he was dead.�

�Um I take it Mr. Ashton is free to go back to his hometown?� Alexis asked

�We have no reason to keep him. Without a body there real isn�t any crime.�

�Thank you officer.� Alexis replied as the officer left.

�He was dead Alexis I know I shot him.� Ned stated very upset.

�Sweetheart you need to calm down.� She stated as she sat back down on the bed.

�Emily!� Ned yelled �We need to find Emily.� He added as he jumped out of bed.

Alexis grabbed him and pushed him back down. �Emily is fine.......she�s just outside those doors with Nikolas, Elizabeth and Lucky.�

�She�s what?� Ned asked as he caught his breath. �Is she okay? He didn�t hurt her did he?�

�If you promise to calm down and stay here I�ll go get her.�

�Looking for me?� Emily stated as she walked through the doors and ran into Ned�s arms.

Ned�s eyes began to water as he held onto her for dear life. �Oh Emily you have no idea how happy I am to see you.�

�You have no idea how happy I am to see you.� Emily shot back.

Ned held her back slightly so he could get a good look at her. �We need to let Grandmother and the family know you�re okay.�

�Mom and Dad are on their way as we speak.�

Ned pulled her into another embrace. �I love you so much Emily; I was going out of my mind worrying about you. Thank god you�re all right.�

�Emily!� Monica yelled as both her and Alan walked through the door with Lucky, Nikolas and Elizabeth in tow.

Emily let go of Ned and ran into her mother�s open arms. �OH mom....dad I love you both so much.�

�And we love you.� Alan replied as he held his wife and daughter tight.

Monica looked over at Ned. �Are you okay, what happened to you?�

�It�s a long story Monica and if you don�t mind I�d rather not get into it right now.�

She walked over to him and gave him a hug. �As long as you�re okay it can wait.�

�You know when I said Mr. Ashton could have visitors I didn�t mean all at once.� The doctor laughed as he walked into the room. �You know Mr. Ashton for someone who doesn�t live around here you sure do have a lot of friends.�

�The three of us will wait outside.� Nikolas stated replying to him Lucky and Elizabeth.

�Well you might all want to wait outside while Mr. Ashton here gets dressed.� The doctor said as he handed Ned his release papers. �Because as soon as he signs these he�s free to go.�

Everyone except Alexis left the room. �What do you say instead of going back to Port Charles the two of us disappear for a couple of days?�

�Just you and me?� Ned asked as he got dressed. �No phones no clients.........�

�No faxes and most importantly no family.� Alexis added cutting him off.

�Sounds too good to be true.�

�Well if you don�t want to go!� Alexis replied as she walked away from him.

�I never said I didn�t want to go.� He replied as he grabbed her around the waist twisted her in his arms and pulled her lips to his. �Besides if I do recall.� He kisses her lightly �and trust me I do.� He adds between light kisses. �I�m in your care for the next twenty-four hours.�

Alexis pulls her lips away slightly. �you do realize that that means you have to do everything I tell you to do.�

�Oh and then some.� He replied as he kissed her forcefully only to lose their balance and fall onto the bed.

CHAPTER 6

Ned finished getting dressed with Alexis� help and they were just getting ready to leave the room when Emily walked in.

�Hey I thought you went home already.� Ned replied as he gave her a huge hug. �I know Grandmother and Grandfather can�t wait to see you.�

�Mom and dad are down in the car waiting for me but I told them I wanted to check on you one last time before I left.�

Ned laughed and placed his arm around Alexis. �So what�s the really reason you haven�t left yet?�

Emily looked nervous. �Well Alexis I actually wanted to ask you something.�

Alexis looked over at her. �Emily you can ask me anything.�

�Well......I ..........I was just wondering what was going to happen to Zander now that he�s been arrested?�

Alexis took Emily�s hand. �Listen don�t worry about Zander he can�t hurt you anymore.�

�He never hurt me.� Emily yelled shocking both Alexis and Ned. �And he didn�t kill that cop either.�

�And you believe that because he told you?� An upset Ned asked.

Alexis kissed Ned slightly on the forehead and then looked back at Emily. �Emily weather or not Zander killed Ted Wilson or not he�s still going to jail.�

�Yet but if he killed a cop he�ll get the death penalty right?�

�Emily you can�t do anything to help Zander.� Alexis replied.

�NO but you can.� Emily quickly yelled out.

�Alexis is not going to help the man who held you at gunpoint, Emily!� Ned stated firmly.

�Emily even I can�t help Zander.� Alexis replied

�Yes you can. I know you can Alexis. Will you at least talk to him?�

�Emily I�m sorry but I won�t.� Alexis replied. �Listen Emily Ned needs to get out of here and get some rest. Why don�t you stop worrying about Zander and go home with you�re parents?�

�I can�t just leave Zander here!� Emily yelled

�Well if it helps any Zander won�t be staying here much longer.� Emily looked at her. �I�m sure the police have already made arrangements to ship him back to Port Charles where he�ll stand trail.�

�Hey Emily.� Nikolas said as he entered the room. �You�re parents asked me to come up and get you�

�Thanks Nikolas do you need a ride?� Emily asked

�No thanks I�ve got my car and as it is if I don�t get back down to the parking lot Lucky is likely to leave with out me.�

�Well we�d give you a ride Nikolas but Ned and I aren�t going back to Port Charles right away.� Alexis stated.

�And where are the two of you off to?� Nikolas asked.

Ned took Alexis�s hand and started out the door. �Somewhere where nobody will find us.�

A few hours later Ned and Alexis walk into a dimly lit cabin.

�What did you do Miss. Davis call ahead and order the fire.�

Alexis walked over to a table. �That and lunch. I hope you�re hungry.�

Ned walked up to her and pulled her against him. �Oh I�m hungry all right but food isn�t exactly what I have a craving for.�

�Ned Ashton we just got here.� A blushing Alexis replied.

�And you�re point would be?� He asked as his lips came closer to hers.

With her lips lightly touching his. �Did I say there was a point?�

Ned and Alexis both laughed slightly before she grabbed the back of his neck and kissed him deeply. After a few seconds Ned broke the kiss and in one swift movement swept her up into his arms.�

�Ned put me down you just got out of the hospital.� Alexis yelled.

�Oh I�ll put you down all right.� He replied as he made his way over to the bed. �And then I�ll have my way with you.� He added as he dropped her in the middle of the bed.

�Excuse me but if I do recall I believe it�s me who you have to listen to.�

Ned laid his body partially on top of hers and began unbuttoning her blouse. �Oh I just love listening to the little noises you make.� He began kissing her neck.�

�Ned!� Alexis yelled.

�I also love it when you yell my name.� Ned stated seductively as Alexis began unbuckling his belt.

Alexis took both her hands and placed it on Ned�s face making him look at her. �I�m just glad you�re alive to hear me yell you�re name.

�That�s because I�m like a bad habit......I just don�t know when to go away.�

�Who said you were a bad habit?� She asked as she pushed him back and crawled on top of him.

�If you wanted to be on top so bad you could have just said so.� Ned sarcastically but lovingly stated.

�Just shut up and make love to me.� Alexis replied while bringing her lips to his.

Ned held her back. �Does that mean you won�t be making those noises I love so much?�

�Oh I�ve even come up with a few new ones.� She replied just before kissing him.

About two hours later Ned was on the bed sleeping and Alexis was sitting on the couch talking on the phone.

�Hey Nikolas it�s me Alexis. I just wanted to check in and make sure you got home all right.�

�Don�t worry Alexis I�m fine. I�m actually just walking through my front door as we speak.�

�Okay well you call me if you need me.�

�I thought Ned didn�t want anyone to be able to find you two?�

Alexis looked over at Ned who appeared to be sleeping peacefully. �He doesn�t but you know me I can�t live without my phone.�

Nikolas laughed. �You just better hope he doesn�t catch it on.�

�I love you and I�ll talk to you later.�

�I love you too.� Nikolas replied as they both hung up.

Alexis got off the couch to grab a blanket when she noticed Ned tossing in bed. She quickly made her way over to him and sat on the edge of the bed.

�Ned......Ned sweetheart......Ned wake up.� She stated as she shook him.

�NO NO!!!!!!!� Ned yelled

�Ned wake up!� Alexis yelled even louder.

�I didn�t mean it I didn�t mean it!� Ned yelled as he sat straight up.

Alexis put her arms around him and they held each other tight. After a few seconds she looked at him.

�Are you okay?�

�It was horrible.� He stated as the sweat ran down his face. �It was like it was happening all over again but this time in slow motion.�

Alexis got up and ran to the bathroom and came back with a towel.� It�s okay it�s over and what happened wasn�t your fault.�

Ned wiped his face. �Yes it was Alexis. I shot someone and I could have stopped it.�

�No Ned you couldn�t have. It happened so fast and you were trying to protect yourself.�

�I still killed a man.�

�We don�t even know that for sure.�

�He was dead Alexis I know he was dead.�

�Ned the police didn�t even find a body.�

�That doesn�t mean I didn�t kill him.�

Alexis looked lovingly into his eyes. �Maybe we should go home.�

�I don�t want to go home. I want to be here with you.�

�Did I say I was going anywhere?� Alexis asked. �I just thought maybe if we went back to the hotel or the gatehouse that you�d feel better.�

Ned took Alexis in his arms and laid back. �It doesn�t matter where we are as long as you�re with me I feel better.�

Emily was in her room lying on her bed crying. She couldn�t get Zander out of her thoughts.

�Why am I feeling like this?� She asked herself. �Why do I care so much about him? I know I shouldn�t but I can�t help it.�

She got off her bed and walked over to the window. She pushed the window open and sat down. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn�t even hear Juan climbing the tree.

�Emily I�m so glad you�re home.� He replied as he climbed in the window and grabbed her in his arms. �That bastard didn�t hurt you did he?�

Emily got up and turned her back on him. �NO he didn�t hurt me and he never would.�

Juan walked up behind her and placed his arms around her. �Don�t cry Emily I�m here.�

Emily pulled out of his grip and turned to look at him. �I want you to go.�

�Emily I�m sorry I didn�t do anything to stop Zander from kidnapping you but Nikolas and Lucky wouldn�t let me.�

�Juan it�s over don�t you understand that......we can�t go back to what we had.�

�Why not I love you Emily.�

�Juan please just leave me alone!� Emily yelled as she ran out of the room slamming the door behind her.
