Chap 11 Alexis insisted on Ned leaving Brooke-Lynn with her at the hospital while he went and took care of some L&B business. He would only be gone a few hours and he was hesitate at first do to the fact that a little girl can get quite bored in a cooped up in a hospital for few hours at a time. But he couldn't refuse the little girl's puppy dog eyes and pouty lips. And she was so happy to have a little sister and he most defiantly didn't want to take her to the mansion. So he left Brooke with Alexis and Kristen to do some female bonding while he went and checked on L&B. Brooke was sitting in the chair beside Alexis' bed going through her back pack showing Alexis all the books and toys she had put in there. Brooke pulled a book out of her back pack "Lex, will you read this to me..it's my favorite story?" Alexis took the book from Brooke-Lynn and read the title "Cinderella. I didn't have this book when I was little, but I have always wanted to read it. Sure I'll read it to you.. Hop up here (Alexis motion for Brooke to sit next to her) Before Brooke could get out of the chair, there was a light knock on the door before Monica walked in. Brooke looked up at Monica with a huge smile on her face and jumped out of the chair and ran towards her wrapping herself around Monica's legs "Aunt Monica, I missed you so much. Is Emily with you. I want her to play Barbies with me?" Monica picked the little girl up and carried her over to the chair next to Alexis bed "My Brooke..you have gotten so big. (she hugged the girl) I missed you too. Emily is at school right now, maybe later your daddy can bring you over to the house so you can see Em. Edward and Lila will be so happy to see you. They missed you a lot too." " I missed grandmother, but I didn't really miss grandfather..he is grumpy all the time" Alexis and Monica both held back a ligh! t laughed. 'So what are you doing here..Where's your mommmy?" Monica asked Brooke-Lynn. " She is off on some summer tour with a new boy band and I am staying with mommy (Monica smiled down at Alexis who returned the smile) and daddy and baby Kristen for the WHOLE summer. And we are going to have lots of fun, daddy said we are going to go on a trip, go on picnics, go the park, go to the beach..and he said mommy (turning to Alexis) will even take me shopping, right (Alexis shook her head "yes") and before I have to go home..he might even take me to Disney World!" "Oh my, well that all sounds like so much fun. I bet you can't wait" Monica sad to Brooke who shook her head "no" "So when is Mommy going to be able to get out of the hospital and go home..She says the bed isn't very comfortable and it hurts her back..and she wants to get up and walk around." Brooke honestly told Monica and Alexis just ducked her head and laughed" " Well Ms Brooke, Alexis just had a baby, so she'll have to be a little patient, which I know is hard for her. (turning her attention to Alexis) So how are you feeling?" "Sore, but I think I can handle it. But I can tell you one thing, the next time I have a baby, I am ! going to be brought in earlier enough to get some drugs. I can take a lot, but childbirth, I can't take..I thought I was going to die. It hurt so bad..Why don't they tell women that before they go and get pregnant. I can tell you this, Ned isn't going to be laying a hand on me for a long time" Monica laughed "You say that now, just wait till Kristen is walking and talking and gets very independent, you'll get to missing all those baby moments and want another one. Beside Ned's got two girls now. I think he needs a boy to carry on the Ashton family name." Alexis laughed " Well ...he. .well he'll just have to wait..a few years..maybe ten. I am not up for another painful delivery as the one I just had. He's going to have to do some serious making it up to me and some serious sweet talking before I will consider having another baby. (She smiled at Kristen who began stretching in her arms) But then again..I would trade those moments for anything..okay so maybe I'll have one more baby, but if it's not a boy..Oh well..we will adopted one" Alexis laughed as she rubbed Kristen little tummy as she stretched. "My she is a very alert little girl" Monica said as Kristen laid in Alexis lap stretching! and looking all around. Brooke climbed up on the bed next to Alexis and was playing with Kristen's little teddy bear Ned had brought earlier ignoring the two older ladies conversation and was in her own little world playing. Alexis unconsciously started playing with Brooke-Lynn's hair as she and Monica talked. "Monica..I am so sorry, Would you like to hold your niece?" Alexis asked Monica "Of course (Monica leaned down and picked up the little pink bundle from Alexis lap) Oh my Alexis, she is so beautiful. I don't think I have every seen a newborn this beautiful before. They are usually all wriggled and blotchy looking. But she has a great complex..and I can't get over how dark her hair is." Alexis laughed "What hair..all she has is a little fuzzy here and there. I guess she'll be wearing lots of hair bands and little hats..speaking of which, I don't even think she has that many." "Alexis, we never gave you your baby shower" Monica said realizing the fact "That's okay, it's not really necessary, I don't have that many friends, so it wouldn't have been the "social event" of the year." Monica waved her off "Oh don't be silly..you have lots of friends and lots of family..we are going to give you that "social event " of the year shower as soon as you are up too it" " I am up for anything right now (Brooke moved closer to Alexis) so when will I be sprung from this joint" Alexis asked and she wrapped a arm around Brooke. "I think they are saying tomorrow. So why don't you call the house so we can set up a date for your shower. Has Edward brought Lila up to see the baby?" "No he hasn't, but I think Ned was going to stop by on his way back from L&B to see if she was up to it. Knowing her, I am sure she'll be up to see her newest little great-grand baby. (looking at Kristen) I still can't believe she's here. And she is mine..my little girl..I never really wanted children. That wasn't something I grew up wanting. I wanted to be independent on my own a successful respected attorney. I didn't want to get married, obviously since I ran the first time, and have children, then once I ran from the church and got shot at, I realized life is worth more than be a successful person, or well liked. Then when I found out I was pregnant, my life meant much more. Although Ned and I weren't together at the time. I even thought that even if we would not have not gotten back together, that I would be happy just me and my child. Knowing that my child was conceived out of love. I would never ever even think about keeping Ned away from his child (playing with Brooke-Lynn�s hem of her shirt) I see how not being with Brooke has effected Ned. (her eyes started tearing up) I am not like Lois. I don't care how crazy the Quatermines are, they are Kristen's family and she deserves to know them. I never knew much about my family and I didn't want my child growing up like I did. I want her to have the best life, with both parents being a vital part of it. I am so glad Ned and I worked things out, got married and have this beautiful, wonderful, little bundle of joy. She makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I love that little girl and would do anything for her, and Ned for that matter." Alexis finished quite embarrassed that she just spilled all that out to Monica who was just looking at her. "Alexis I know you love Ned and you would never do anything to deliberately hurt Ned. I even get why you ran from the church back in December now. You weren't brought up in a loving home and you didn't think you were capable of love then Ned came along and overwhelmed you with so much love and it frighten you It's to be expected. Ned and I had several little talks about your relationship (Alexis eyes got big) it was all good, don't worry. All I know is that Ned would move heaven and earth to make you happy." Monica said smiling down at Kristen who began to fuss. "I think she is wanting her mommy" Monica said handing Kristen to Alexis. "Yea..she is probably getting a little hungry." Alexis said adjusting Kristen so she could nurse her. "Well I guess I need to get going and check on a few ore of my patients before I have to head home. Congratulations, she is really gorgeous and very lucky to have you and Ned as parents. (Brooke looked up and made a little noise) and you for a big sister (Monica said walking over to Brooke hugging her) I'll see you later, maybe daddy will bring you over to see Emily later..Okay? (Brooke nodded and went back to playing with the teddy bear) I see you guys later. Tell Ned is one very lucky man. He ought to be very proud." Monica said as she walked towards the do! or. "He is." Alexis said smiling at Kristen. Monica left and Alexis looked at Brooke. "So what do you want to do till daddy gets back?" Brooke thought "I want you to read to me now." She handed Alexis the book. "I think I can do that" Alexis said taking the book and trying to hold it up so she could read it, trying not disturbing Kristen as she nursed. "Once upon a time.. |
