Chapter 11 The Gatehouse, early morning. Chloe is sitting at Ned's desk sketching a new design. Alexis comes downstairs and is surprised to see her. Alexis: Good Morning Chloe. What brings you here so early? Chloe: Ned asked me to come by and keep you company. (Alexis gives her a what's up look) He doesn't want you to be left alone. Alexis closes her eyes, shakes her head and walks towards the kitchen. Chloe gets up and follows her. Alexis: Where's Ned? Chloe: He said he had some errands to do. Alexis: This early? You know I'll be fine you don't have to stay here with me. Besides I've gotta go to the office this morning. Chloe: Well I have nothing to do so I'll go with you. Alexis: Chloe I don't need a babysitter. Now would you like me to make you breakfast? Chloe:Your not really going to cook are you? Alexis: Well I could always..... Chloe: You know what I've got a better idea. Why don't I make us something to eat, while you go upstairs and get ready for work. Alexis: (Laughing) What you don't like my cooking? Chloe: You don't know how to cook. (they both laugh & Alexis goes off to get dressed) Scene II After breakfast Alexis heads to the Studio. Chloe stayed behind to pack some of her things, she was moving in with Jax. Chloe tried to convince Alexis to let her come with her. She knew Ned was not going to be happy when he found out she let her leave the house alone. Chloe found out the hard way that there is no point arguing with a lawyer. She was going through the mail when Alexis walked back into the house. Chloe: Did you forget something? Alexis: Yea. To turn off my interior light last night. My battery is dead. (walking over to the couch and sitting down) I called the tow truck from my cell phone, they should be here shortly. Chloe: Well you could always help me pack. I'm sure the sooner I get out of here the better. (they both laugh and Alexis begins to help her pack.) It's been about two hours and there is still no sign of the tow truck. Alexis calls them and the lady on the other end of the phone assures her that he is on his way. Alexis: Darn I really need to get to the office. I've got some legal papers there that need to be filed today. Chloe: Well here (handing her the keys) why don't you take my car. I'll stay here and wait for the tow truck. Alexis:Oh that would be great, thanks. (Alexis leaves) It's been about an hour the tow truck driver has already been there and left. Chloe is just about finished packing her things when her cell phone rings. Chloe: Chloe Morgan. Jax: Hey, where are you? Chloe: I'm at the Gatehouse packing my things. Jax: Well how would you like to join me for a late lunch? What do you say the Grille? Chloe:Sounds great I'll be there in about 20 minutes. (they hang up) Chloe realizes she doesn't have a car. So she tries to call Jax back but there is no answer. She waits a minute and tries again, but still no answer. She thinks about it and then decides Alexis wouldn't mind if she uses her car. She picks up her keys and heads out the door. Scene III Jax is sitting at the table waiting for Chloe, when Ned approaches. Ned: Hey. I've got a business tip you might be interested in. Jax: (intrigued, but doesn't want Ashton to know) Really, what makes you think any tip you have is something I don't already know. Ned:(with his smug face, turns and starts to walk away) Sorry I bothered you. Jax: Wait! Ned: (he turns back to him and sits down) Okay it seems Helena Cassidine is having a little problem with some of her oversea accounts, and if you jump on this you just might be able to make a hefty profit. Jax: Why don't you raid her accounts yourself? Ned: I promised Alexis I wouldn't do anything to.....well you know. Jax: Yea I know. The further you keep your distance from her the better. Thanks. Ned gets up and heads to the office. Jax tries to call Chloe on her cell phone but he can't get through. So he leaves a message for her with the Hostess. Scene IV Chloe' on her why to the Hotel when she gets this great idea for a design. She looks down and realizes that not only did she forget her sketch phone but that she left her cell phone on Ned's desk. She thinks about turning around but then looks up in her rear view mirror and sees a car flying up behind her. The car passes her and then slows down. Another car comes up behind her and bumps her rear. She's now sandwiched between the two cars. She's only on a two lane road and has no way of getting around them. The car in front of her stops short and the car behind her slams into her again. Chloe is scared to death she doesn't know what to do. All of a sudden the car behind her speeds up, passes her and takes off. She feels a little better now and decides to back off from the car ahead of her. She starts to pull off the side off the road when a car comes out of nowhere and slams into the side of her forcing her over a cliff. The car turns back and the driver gets out just in time to see Alexis's car explode on impact. The driver gets back in his car and makes a call. Driver: Yes. Everything it taken care of. Ms Davis and her unborn child are dead. Helena: Are you sure? This time she must be dead. Driver: Yes. The car went over a cliff and exploded once it hit the ground. There is no way she survived. Helena: Good work, now make sure you call the police and report the accident. (she hangs up) Oh my poor Natasha your little bastard will never see the light of day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 12 It's now 8:00 and Ned is back at the Penthouse with Jax. Jax is in the kitchen getting something to eat. Ned hasn't heard from Alexis all day and decides to call her. He tries her at the Gatehouse and gets concerned when he doesn't get an answer. He then tries the studio, Chloe cell phone, & finally Alexis Suite but gets no answer. Ned:Jax have you heard from Alexis or Chloe at all? Jax:(hollowing from the other room) Yea we were suppose to have lunch but I had to cancel. (walking into the room) Why is something wrong. Ned:Well I can't find either of them anywhere. Jax: Well Ned I'm sure they're fine they probably just went shopping or something. Ned: I don't know.......... I just don't like not knowing where she is. Jax: Ned you need to stop worrying about her so much. Alexis is a big girl she can take care of herself. Besides you know she isn't going to do anything stupid that would harm the baby. Ned:I know, your right. (walking over and looking out the window) but I just can't stop worrying about her. Just then there was a knock on the door. Jax went over to answer it. It was Lieutenant Taggert. Jax: Taggert what can I do for you? (Ned walks over) Taggert: I'm sorry to inform you that your wife has been in a car accident. She didn't make it. The room went silent as Ned slowly feel to his knees and screamed. Jax walked over to him, he could feel his pain but felt so helpless. Jax: Where did they take her body? Taggert: Her body was burned beyond recognition. I'm so sorry. Jax: How the hell do you know it was her then? Taggert: The car was registered to to her. Again I'm sorry. ( he left) Jax just stood there and watched as Ned slowly began to fall into a dark place. He himself couldn't believe the woman who he came home to ever night was gone. She was his best friend, and now she's just gone he thought. Jax decided the best thing to do for Ned was to drive him home. They left the hotel while the sound of silence fell behind them. Scene II Jax pulled up to the Gatehouse and they just sat there, not saying a word. Finally after about 10 minutes Ned spoke. Ned: I can't believe she..... gone. We had so many things we were going to do. (you can see the tears form in his eyes and slowly fall) And the.....our child, it never even had a chance. Why ........why the hell did this happen? What on earth did I do in my life that was so bad that the woman I love and my unborn child had to die for. Jax:Ned this isn't your fault..... Ned:I never even told my family that she was pregnant. I figured I was helping her by not allowing them to upset her, but really all I was doing was avoiding them. I didn't want to listen to my Grandfather tell me what a mistake I made getting a Cassidine pregnant! (his eyes stared of into the distance) He never liked her anyway. Jax just sat there and listened to Ned carry on. He knew the best thing he could do for him would be to let him get off whatever was on his chest, whether he really felt that way or not. Ned: (still staring out into space) Do you want to see what I bought Alexis today? (Jax just nods and Ned pulls a small box out of his jacket pocket) It's a ring........I was going to ask Alexis to marry me, this weekend. I rented a cabin just outside of town.....I figured we could spend the whole weekend doing nothing...... but sitting around talking about our baby. (He looks at Jax) Our baby our baby Jax we were suppose to have a child a future a life together.........you know I wanted a boy.... I never told her. Why didn't I tell her? (he places his hands over his face and starts to cry) Oh god I love her so much. She's the only one who ever understood me, the only person who ever excepted me for who I was and now she's gone. (he opens the car door and gets out. His emotions are running strong and he feels so lost) I have no idea what she wanted I never asked her. All those nights just lying there in bed you think I would have asked her. Jax: The most important thing to remember is that she knows you loved her. Ned: Loved her, god Jax I still love her, and I can't make that just go away because she's gone! How am I ever suppose to stop loving her? (looking at Jax) Thanks for the ride but I just really want to be left alone now, please just let me be. Jax left, and Ned just held his face in his hand and completely lost it as he hit the cold ground with his body. Scene III Alexis is inside the Gatehouse unaware that Ned is just feet away from her completely falling apart after hearing news of her supposed death. She's worried about him, it's not like him to be gone all day and not call her. She decides to get a breath of fresh air and walks outside. She's thinking about how wonderful everything is going to be when their baby is born. She's scared to death of becoming a Mother but Ned has reassured her that she'll be the best mother a kid could have. Just then she hears a strange noise coming from the driveway. She walks over to find Ned lying on the ground crying. Alexis: Ned (running over to him and dropping down besides him) Ned what's wrong? What happened? Ned: (looking up in total disbelief) Alexis is that you. Alexis; Yes, Ned it's me. (crying herself) Are you okay! Ned sits up and hugs her tightly. He then pulls back and places his hand on the side of her face.He just stares at her with the most loving eyes. Alexis: Ned! Ned! What is it? Ned: Did I ever tell you I wanted a boy? (Alexis just looks at him and smiles. He pulls her into a deep kiss) Alexis: (after pulling away) Where did that come from? Ned: Alexis Davis I love you will you marry me? Alexis: (completely shock at what he was asking) Ned could we please go inside this ground is awful cold? Ned picks up Alexis and starts to carry her inside when he starts laughing. Alexis thinks Ned has total gone insane. They go inside and Ned places Alexis gently on the couch and then starts to kiss her all over. He takes off his shirt and then hers. They really start to get into it when Alexis pushes him away. Alexis: Ned not that I don't want to make love to you......but what just happened outside?..... I found you lying on the ground. Ned explains everything to her. Alexis: But Ned I didn't even have my car. My battery was dead so Chloe lent me her car. (A sinking feeling came across her) Ned: Alexis what is it. Alexis: Chloe I left my car with Chloe. They just looked at each other a moment before Ned wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back onto him. They both knew that the body in her car must have been Chloe. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 13 Two days later the whole town gathered together to say farewell to Chloe. Lady Jane & John even came back to town to help support their son in his time of sorrow. After the services everyone gathered back at the Quatermaines. Alan:(entering the foyer of the Q mansion with Monica) I'm so glad Mother decided to stay home and say here good-byes in private. Monica: Yes I don't think she could of handle Jax' speech. I know it tore my heart apart. (Alan holds her as they think about the bright future Chloe should of had) Ned is sitting in the living room talking with Jax and his parents when he notices Alexis is standing at the backdoors looking out. He politely excuses himself and walks over to her. Ned: (taking Alexis's hand and walking her outside) Are you okay? (Alexis just looks up at him and half smiles. He can see how hard she is trying to hold back the tears. He wraps his arms around her and holds her tight) Alexis: You know Ned.... I've never had a friend like Chloe. Heck I never even had a friend before. (Ned just listens to her and holds her even tighter. She turns to look at him) Ned? Ned: Yeah? Alexis: I know this might sound awful but there is something I need to tell you. Ned: (placing his hand on her cheek and looking deeply in her eyes) Alexis you know you can tell me anything and I won't judge you. Alexis: (looking down at the ground)I.....I..... I don't know where to begin. I mean part of me is so glad that it wasn't me in that car and yet another part of me wishes it had been. At least then Chloe would still...... Ned: (picking up her face, forcing her to look at him) Sweetheart it's okay to feel that way, it doesn't make you a bad person it makes you normal. (trying to lighten the mood) Something mind you I never thought A Cassidine could be.(Alexis just half smiled and then closed her eyes and rested her head on Neds chest. Ned wrapped his arms around her tightly) As much as I'll miss Chloe I'm so glad it wasn't you. Scene II After awhile Ned & Alexis walk back into the living room. Alexis walks over to Jax and hugs him. Ned just stands back and watches. The only thing going through his mind is thank god it wasn't Alexis and their unborn child in that car! Alexis looks back at Ned and smiles. Alexis's smile quickly fades as her eyes wonder off to the person standing outside. Ned sees the look in Alexis's face and slowly turns around but sees nothing. Ned walks over to Alexis and takes her hand. Ned: Hey (he kisses her slightly on the forehead) Would you like to go back to the Gatehouse now. Alexis: Yes that's a great idea. I don't think I can take much more of this. (she's still starring outside) Why don't you go and get our coats. Ned: Okay I'll be right back. Alexis walks outside and from behind her she hears a voice. Helena: Well Natasha you've managed to do it again. Alexis: (takes a deep breath before turning around) What are you doing here? Helena: You know it would have been so much more pleasurable if you were in that car. (Alexis looks at her, she's not sure what Helena's getting at) I can't begin to tell you how unhappy I was to find out you were still alive. So how does it feel to know you were responsible for killing your best friend? (Alexis looks at her in shock as she realizes that Helena was behind Chloe's death) Alexis: Oh my god, I should have known, but no I just thought it was a horrible accident. ( she begins to cry) Helena: Your so weak Alexis, and yet some how still alive. But don't worry my dear your day will come. (Helena laughs as she walks away while Alexis just stands there in total shock) Ned; (walking out) Alexis what on earth are you doing out here? (he places her coat around her) It's freezing out here. (she doesn't say anything. He takes her hand and walks her down to the Gatehouse.) Scene III Ned & Alexis walk into the Gatehouse and she sits on the couch as he begins to build a fire. Alexis isn't sure if she should tell Ned about her conversation with Helena. She doesn't know what to do at this point. Ned walks over to her and takes her hand and walks her to a blanket which he has set out in front of the fire. They sit down and Alexis just rests her head on Ned chest while he plays with her hair. About a half hour has past and nobody has said a word. Ned looks down at Alexis and notices she has fallen to sleep. He just signs and puts his head against hers. He can't stop thinking about what he could have lost in a blink of an eye. Suddenly Alexis starts stirring and begins to scream. Ned: Alexis, Alexis, what is it. (he shakes her to wake her up) Alexis: Ned (she looks up into his eyes before placing her head back onto his chest) It was horrible I had another nightmare. Ned: Shhh it's okay. I'm here. Do you want to take about it? Alexis: No! Ned: Okay we don't have to. Alexis: There is something I do need to tell you. Ned: Okay I'm listening. (she begins to get up and he stops her) Alexis sweetheart what is it? Alexis: Please don't be mad at me. I know..... I should have told you early...... but I didn't want you to worry. Ned: (looking really concerned) Alexis please just tell me. Alexis: Helena was at the Quatermaines earlier. Ned: That's why I found you outside. You were talking to Helena. Alexis:Yes Ned: Why? Alexis I don't want you anywhere near that women. Did she threaten you? Alexis: Not exactly. (she places her head down into her hands and begins to cry) Ned: (placing his hand under her chin and picking up her face) Alexis what did she want? And what do you mean not exactly? Alexis: Ned she's responsible for Chloe's death. Ned: (getting really upset but not wanting Alexis to know how much calmly says) She told you this. Alexis: Yes! She also told me my day will come. ( you can see the angry building up in Neds eyes) Ned will you just hold me? Ned: (turning Alexis so that her back is against him and placing both his hands on her stomach) It's going to be alright. I'm not going to let Helena hurt you, me or our baby. (Alexis rest her head against the side of Neds face) I love you Alexis Davis. Alexis: I know you do, and I love you.(she kisses the side of his face) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 14 Ned bursts through the door of Jax's Penthouse, yelling. Ned: Jax.....Jax where the hell are you. Jax: (running down the stairs) I'm right here Ashton what the heck do you want? (looking at his watch) Do you have any idea what time it is? Ned: I don't give a damn about the time! We have work to do. Jax: Well can't it wait till later? I need.... Ned:No! It can't and what ever you had planned for today cancel it. Jax: Why? (getting really frustrated) What the hell do you want? Ned: To get rid of Helena Cassidine once and for all. Jax: What has she done this time? Ned: She threatened to kill Alexis last night and she also told her that...... Jax: What? Ned: Maybe you better sit down. Jax: I don't need to sit down just because you tell me to. Now what did she tell Alexis? Ned: That she was responsible for what happened to Chloe. Jax: (falling back onto the couch, now sitting down) I should have known. The only accidents around here are.... the ones caused by Helena. Ned:(sitting on the couch across from him) I'm sorry Jax I know Chloe and you were getting close, but I need your help. Jax: How's Alexis taking this? Ned: Not well, she can't stop crying and she's so scared. (getting up and walking over to the other side of the room) I don't know how to make her pain or fear go away. Jax:(getting up and walking over towards Ned) Ned you just being there for her and listening to her is important. Ned: Jax I'm scared. As much as I tell Alexis that I'm not going to let Helena hurt her, I'm scared that I might not be able to protect her. (you can see the tears forming in his eyes) I love her so much and the baby.......the baby she's carrying. I'm afraid that if Alexis doesn't stay calm she ended up loosing it. Jax: Has she been having any pain? Ned:No not that I'm aware of anyway. Jax if she was I don't think she'd tell me. Jax: Okay so we need to do two things keep Alexis calm and get rid of Helena. Do you have anything in mind? Ned: I was kinda hoping we could put our heads together and come up with something. (looking at Jax with a very stern look) I don't want Alexis to know anything about this, anything! Jax: Okay. listen why don't you go check on Alexis while I roll a couple of things around in my head. I'll get back to you later today. Scene II Ned just left Jax's Penthouse and decides to go down to Alexis Suite. He uses his pass key and lets himself in. He's surprised and mad to find Alexis there. Ned: What are you doing here? Alexis: I live here, what's your excuse? Besides didn't we once have a conversation about you letting your self in when ever you wanted? Ned: (walking over to the couch, where Alexis is sitting going over paperwork) Your suppose to be at the Gatehouse. I let my self in because I wanted to bring you some clothes to change into. Alexis: (rubbing the side of his face and looking sweetly into his eyes) I love you Ned but really I can pick out my own clothes. (she laughs but he doesn't seem to thrilled) Where did you go this morning? I woke up and you were gone. Ned: I left you a note, didn't you get it? Alexis: Some note Ned. "Honey I had to go out be back in awhile. I love you, Ned" Ned: She then you did get it. (smiling at her and giving her a kiss) Alexis: so are you going to tell me where you were, or what? Ned: Or what. (looking at her seductively. He places both his hands on her face and pulls her into a long breathless kiss) Alexis: (after breaking the kiss, but still holding her lips close to his) um I love the way you think. But I don't think you quit got it right. (he grabs her and pulls her into an even deep kiss) Ned: (after breaking the kiss, but remaining only inches apart) Well what do you think Ms. Davis did I get it right that time? Or do I need more practice? Alexis: Well you know what they say Mr. Ashton (her lips are now slightly touching his) practices does make perfect. They kiss again, this time with even more urgency and passion. He begins to unbutton her blouse as she fumbles with his tie. Ned slowly kisses her neck as he unbuttons the last button on her shirt pulling it off of her. He looks at her a moment and then removes his shirt. she stands and grabs his hand pulling him towards the bedroom. He follows her for a moment and then grabs her quickly and carries her over to the bed. He places her gently on the bed and removes his pants before removing her skirt. She sits up and pulls him down towards her. He falls on the bed next to her. He grabs her face and kisses her lips, slowly moving downward towards her neck and breast and then coming back up to her lips. Alexis just closes her eyes and moans while she plays with his hair. Ned finally lays back pulling her on top of him as they make love. Alexis: (rolling off Ned and lying only partially on top of him) You have no idea of what you do to me Mr. Ashton. Ned:(smiling and rubbing Alexis back) Well it can't be half as much as what you do to me, counselor. Alexis: (kissing his chest) Oh I wouldn't be to sure about that. Ned: I'd say we try again and find out but you wore me out. Alexis: Oh poor baby, did I make you.....uh Ned! Ned: What are you okay. Alexis: (grabbing his hand and placing it on her stomach) The baby just kicked. See she did it again did you feel it? Ned: Wow yeah I felt him.(laughing at Alexis) Alexis: What's so funny. Ned: You called the baby a girl Alexis: I did? (looking at him amused) Well you called it a boy! Ned: Well maybe well have twins. Alexis: Now that's not funny. I don't even know how I'm going to manage one baby, forget two. Ned: (laughing) Okay I'm sorry your right we only need one baby. (he kisses her forehead) at a time. Alexis just looks at him and gives him this look like you've got to be crazy, if you think I'm going through this again look. Ned just laughs at her, and begins singing "Just for You" to her. Scene III Jax is back at the Penthouse and after making a few calls finally realizes the only person who can help him get rid of Helena is Sonny Corinthos. He knows this isn't going to sit well with Ned but decides to ask Sonny for help anyway, after all this was Alexis life they were dealing with and Sonny would do anything for Alexis. About an hour later Corinthos shows up. Jax lets him in. Sonny: (walking right pass Jax with a smug look) Okay I'm here now what? Jax: Like I said on the phone this concerns Alexis. Sonny: So you said. Jax: Sonny I know you care about Alexis....... Sonny: Well you know a good attorney is hard to find. Jax: (shaking his head) You know Corinthos maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Sonny: What idea you haven't said anything yet Jax: (walking over and opening to the door) Why don't you just get out. Sonny:(walking over to the door and closing it) Okay apparently you need my help (looking oh so smug and walking over towards the couch) or you wouldn't have called me. (he sits down) So what kind of trouble is the good counselor in? Jax: (walking over and standing behind the couch across from Sonny) Well I don't know if you know this or not but Alexis is pregnant. Sonny: Really! Wow and here I thought she just gained a little weight. (Jax just looks at him and can't believe he invited him into his house) Of course I knew your wife was pregnant it's a little hard to miss. Jax: Well here's something you didn't know. The baby isn't mine. (Sonny just looks at Jax and half heartily begins to laugh) The baby is Ashtons. Sonny: And you want me to what.........Take him out. Jax: NO! This has nothing to do with Ashton.....(getting even more annoyed) Well it does but..... not the way you think. Alexis loves Ned and always has, our marriage was just a scam. (Jax can tell Corinthos is getting a kick out of this) Why the hell am I telling you this anyway(raising his voice) it's none of your business. I asked you her because Helena wants Alexis dead, and Ned and I don't want that to happen. Now are you interested in help or not? Sonny: Oh so you want me to take Helena out. Now that is something that could possibly be arranged. (getting up and walking over to the door) I'll see what I can do and I'll get back to you. Sonny leaves and Jax just shakes his head. He's not really sure if asking Sonny for help was the best way to go about things, and what Sonny may do. Right now he was more concerned about convincing Ashton that going to Sonny........... was the right thing to do. |
