| CHAPTER 40 Ned stood outside Alexis� room and took a deep breath before slowly walking in. Alexis was lying there looking more beautiful then he ever imagined. She had her hands placed gently on her stomach, her eyes were closed, she had the smile he loved looking at each day shinning bright, and overall the most incredible glow. He just stood there against the door and watched her sleep. He couldn�t believe she was really his wife and they were about two bring two small innocent children into this world. He couldn�t help but smile himself when he pictured in his mind what a wonderful mother she was going to make. Slowly she opened her eyes and her smile became even brighter when she saw him. �Hey there beautiful.� �How long have you been staring at me?� �Not long.� �You know I hate when you do that.� �I know but I just can�t help myself, I love looking at you.� She held out her hand. �So why don�t you come look at me a little closer?� He stood up straight and walked over to her. He then took her hand and kissed it before sitting in the chair next to her bed. She tapped the bed with her other hand. �I don�t bite you know.� He got up and sat on the bed. �oh yes you do.� he joked. �okay I do.� She said blushing. �but not hard.� He shook his head no. �not hard.� She couldn�t believe how claim he seemed. �You okay?� �I should be asking you that -- you scared me you know.� �I love you Ned Ashton.� He kisses the back of her hand again. �I love you more then you�ll ever know.� �Trust me I know.� He smiles at her. �You Alexis Davis Ashton complete me.� �As you do me.� A single tears slowly rolls down his cheek �I don�t know what I�d do if I lost you.� She takes her free hand and wipes away the tear. �I�m not going anywhere.� �Promise?� He asked as more tears find their way down his face. �I promise.� �God I love you.� He whisperers as he brings her body to his and they embrace. ~ GH A FEW HOURS LATER ~ Nikolas along with a nurse is wheeling Emily and her new born son into the hospital. �oh he�s so adorable.� A woman walking by states. �Thank you.� Emily replies. �How old is he?� She asks wiping his little cheek with the back of her one finger. �He�s barely two days old.� A proud Nikolas replied. The woman looked up at Emily. �And they�re letting you take him home already?� �That would of been my first choice.� Emily replied. Nikolas placed his hand on her head. �We�ll be taking our son home soon enough.� �Good luck and congratulations to the both of you.� She said before walking off. �Well it�s about time you two got here.� Monica said walking over and kissing both her daughter and her grandson. �It�s so nice to be loved.� Nikolas joked. Monica looked up at him and smiled. �and you too Nikolas.� �I surprised the rest of the family isn�t hovering around.� Emily said to her mother. �Your father and I opted not to tell Edward, AJ I haven�t been able to get a hold of since you had the baby.� �So he still doesn�t know he�s a uncle yet?� Emily asked. �That�s it I can�t wait any longer.� Monica yelled picking up the baby. �I so need to hold my grandson.� Alex started to fuss so Monica placed him on his stomach against her chest. �And to answer your question, no AJ still doesn�t know.� �Where�s Ned? I�m surprised he isn�t here.� Emily asked �Ned�s would be here but he�s with Alexis.� Monica said a little to quietly. �Monica is there something wrong with my Aunt?� �No Nikolas she�s fine.� She quickly replied. �But she is here in the hospital after a small scare with the twins.� �Are they okay?� Emily asked. �Everyone�s fine.� Monica said trying to reassure them. �Are they still here?� Nikolas asked �Yes they�re just down the hall a bit.� Monica replied while rubbing the baby�s back. �Would it be alright if we go and see them before I go to my room?� Emily asked pleadingly. Monica handed the baby back to Emily. �I�m sure Alexis would love to see her great nephew.� ~*~ ~ Alexis�s Room ~ �Do you want to tell me what happened?� Ned asked wiping a stray hair from her face. �I�d rather not talk about it right now if you don�t mind.� �It can wait till we get home.� He lovingly replied. �Hey you two, care for some company?� Monica asked sticking her head in the door. �Only if you�re here to tell me I can go home.� Alexis replied. �Actually I come barring gifts.� She says opening the door. �Tiny little gifts.� Nikolas pushes Emily in the door and over to Alexis�s bedside. Ned gets up and walks to the other side of the bed. �Awwww look at him he�s so precious.� Alexis squeaks �Would you like to hold him?� Emily asked. �I�d love to hold him.� Ned fixes the bed so that Alexis in more in a sitting position. Nikolas takes his son from his mother, kisses his tiny face and then gently places him in Alexis�s arms. Alexis looks up at Ned with tears in her eyes. �He seems even smaller now that I�m holding him.� Ned sits on the bed next to her. He places his arm behind her head. Monica walks over and stands behind Emily. �It won�t be long before you�ll be holding you�re own little ones.� �And you�re going to make a wonderful mother.� Emily adds �I sure hope so.� Alexis says nervously. �You will.� Ned says laying his head on top of Alexis�s and looking over at Emily. �So how are you feeling?� �I�d feel better if they�d let me and my son go home.� �Me too.� Alexis quickly replies causing everyone to chuckle. �You my darling daughter will be going home before you know it, so don�t worry� Monica said bending down and kissing the side of Emily�s face. �You however.� She said looking over at Alexis. �Are free to go.� �Really?� Alexis yelled causing the baby to cry. �Oh I�m sorry did I scare you?� �Here I�ll take him.� Nikolas said. Monica stood back up. �And I�ll be taking the three of you to Emily�s room.� �Ohhh can�t I go home like Alexis?� Emily whined. �No you can�t.� Monica firmly stated. �Now say goodbye.� �Bye guys.� Emily stated with a solemn expression. Ned got up and walked over to the door and opened it. �Take care of yourself.� �And you take care of that girlfriend of yours.� Emily shot back before Monica pushed her into the hall. Nikolas looked at Alexis and half smiled. �Something wrong Nikolas?� Alexis asked taking his hand. He bent down and kissed her. �I just worry about you is all.� �Well don�t� Ned said walking to the foot of the bed. �I plan on taking good care of her.� Nikolas smiled at him �You better.� �You sure everything�s alright?� Alexis asked again. He kissed the back of her hand and then let it go. �I�m sure. I better go catch up with my wife before I can�t find her.� �Ok take care of yourself.� Alexis said not convinced. �And take care of my cousin and that new born baby of yours as well.� Ned added. �I plan on it.� Nikolas said before leaving the room. Ned clapped his hands and Alexis jumped. �So Mrs. Ashton.� He walked over to her and held out his hand. �Can I help you get dressed.� She smiled and took his hand. �And here I thought you only liked to undress me.� He pulled her onto her feet. �I figured we�d try something different.� He smirked as he smacked her butt. �Besides I�m always undressing you.� he placed his mouth against her ear. �with my eyes.� �You�re so bad.� She smacked him in the arm. �Get me my clothes.� |
