~ CHAPTER 4 ~ ~ Quatermaine Rose Garden ~ One Month Later ~ �So when are you going to tell you�re parents that you and Nikolas are dating?� Liz asked her best friend Emily as she stared off into space. �I don�t know.� Em answered in a dreamy voice. �I think Ned and Alexis already know there�s more then just friendship between the two of you.� �Oh my god.� Emily said coming out of her daze. �You don�t think they know that were sleeping together do you?� �Like I said Em they know something�s happening.� �Liz I just can�t tell my family. Mom and Dad will say he�s to old for me to be going out with.� �Little do they know.� Liz said sarcastically. Emily� face turned to sheer panic. �And then there�s grandfather, he�ll just go ballistic. He hates the Cassidine�, Liz he�s even mad at Ned for announcing that he�s marring Alexis.� �Well Em like you said he hates Cassidine� and Alexis is a Cassidine.� �Ya but they�ve been dating for what like ever now.� Emily quickly shot back. �Apparently time doesn�t matter to you�re grandfather.� �Oh god I�m so worried about them finding out about us that I�m making myself sick.� Emily stated as she turned her back on Elizabeth and threw up in the bush. �Emily are you okay?� Liz asked while she rubbed her back. After a few minutes Emily looked up at her. �Ya I�ll be fine.� �You don�t look to good. Maybe we should go inside so you can get some rest?� �Thanks.� Emily said as Liz helped her up. �I think that�s a good idea.� ~ L&B Studios ~ �So do you want me to finalize things with the concert in New York?� Nikolas asked Ned. Ned thought for a moment. �I love the idea of opening for a band in the city I�m just not sure how Alexis will feel about it.� Ned replied �Ned, Alexis wants L&B to be a success, I can�t see why she�d have a problem with it.� �Alexis isn�t to sure if she wants Eddie Maine to exist or not?� �What.� A shocked Nikolas yelled. �Alexis Davis is Eddie Maine� biggest fan.� �Maybe, but she�s afraid of losing Ned Ashton in the process.� �Gotcha.� Nikolas replied. �So do you want me to just put the whole concert thing on standby or should I just call them and tell them we can�t do it?� �Don�t do anything yet let me talk to Alexis and see what she makes of it.� �Will do.� Nik replied as he started to walk away. �Hey Nikolas.� Ned suddenly yelled. �I�d like to talk to you about something a little more personal.� �Personal?� �I want to know just how serious things are between you and Emily?� �Emily and I are just friends nothing more.� Nikolas quickly stated. Ned laughed. �Nikolas Alexis and I have watched the two of you become extremely close over the last few weeks and we can tell its more then just friendship blossoming.� Nikolas put his head down and walked over to him. �Emily and I have been dating for a while now and we don�t want our families to find out.� Ned put his arm hand on Nikolas� shoulder. �Nikolas I don�t have a problem with you and my cousin dating and neither does Alexis. Actually she thinks it�s kind of cute.� �So you�re not mad at us?� �The only way I�m going to be mad at you is if you hurt her.� �I�d never hurt her Ned I love her.� �I know you care deeply for her. I can tell just by looking at you.� �Listen you aren�t going to tell anyone else about us are you?� �Only Alexis.� �Thanks.� ~ Alexis� Suite ~ Early the next morning Ned and Alexis are sleeping peacefully when all of a sudden Alexis gets this yucky feeling in her stomach. She sits up and tries to ignore it but the feeling becomes stronger and she runs into the bathroom, barely making it in time. Twenty minutes later she comes out of the bathroom and notices Ned still sleeping, so she quietly puts on her bathrobe and walks out into the other room. She lies down on the couch, brings her knees up to her chest, and closes her eyes. Meanwhile back at the main house Emily isn�t doing much better, she�s already spent the last past hour in her bathroom getting sick. After finally feeling somewhat human again Emily slowly gets off the floor and walks back into her bedroom. She sits down on her bed and notices the calendar on the wall; she�s completely shocked when the realization hits her. She begins to cry as she picks up her phone and calls Liz. �Yea.� Liz half answers as she picks up the phone. �Liz I need you.� A panicking Emily cries. Liz quickly sits up in her bed and looks over at the clock. �Em calm down. Tell me what�s the matter.� �Liz�..I ���I��.I didn�t get it.� Emily barely spit out. �Didn�t get what?� �It.� Emily screams. Liz thinks for a moment but has no clue what she�s talking about. �Emily you need to take a breath and tell me what�s wrong.� Emily tries to control herself but instead her breathing becomes heavier. �I should have gotten it two weeks ago and I didn�t.� �You should have gotten what two�..� Liz trails off as what Emily� talking about becomes clearer. �Are you sure?� �Yes I�m sure. What am I going to do?� �Nothing, I�ll be right there.� �Hurry please.� Emily begged as she hung up the phone. Emily sank to the floor as she grabbed her pillow and placed it over her face. She completely lost it as her cries became muffled by the impact of her pillow. ~ An Hour Later ~ Ned walks out into the living room to find Alexis on the couch asleep in the fetal position. He picks up the phone and orders room service. Alexis stirs slightly at the sound of his voice. Ned walks over to her and sits on the floor. �What are you doing out here?� He asked as he brushed the hair from her face. Alexis doesn�t want him to worry about her so she lies. �Just couldn�t sleep that�s all.� �I�m sorry.� He replies as he lends down and kisses her. �I ordered breakfast from downstairs it should be here soon.� �I can�t wait I�m starving.� �Good because I ordered eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns, toast, orange Juice,� �Oh no!� Alexis yelled cutting him off mid sentence as she pushed him out of the way and made a beehive for the bathroom. Ned got up and followed her into the bedroom, however she closed the bathroom door before he could gain access. �Alexis are you alright?� Ned asked several times but got no response. �Do you want me to call a doctor?� He asked but still didn�t get an answer. He banged his head against the door before walking over to the edge of the bed and picking up the phone. He was midway through calling the main house when he heard the bathroom door unlock and Alexis walk out. �Who are you calling?� She asked as she made her way over to the bed. Ned hung up the phone and placed his arm around her. �Monica.� �Why?� �I was hoping she�d come up here and take a look at you.� �I�ll be fine, I think I just eat to much at dinner last night and now I�m paying for it.� �Are you sure?� A not convinced Ned asked. �Yea I�m sure.� She stated as she lies back onto his pillow. �Why don�t you just let me die here in peace while you get dressed and take care of that meeting we have this morning?� �I�ve got a better idea.� He said as he picked up the phone. �Why don�t I stay here and take care of you and cancel the meeting.� �No!� Alexis yelled as she took the phone from. �This meeting is important and you should go.� �Nothings more important then you.� He stated lovingly as he placed the sheet over her body. Alexis looked into his eyes and knew there was no way he was leaving her to fend for herself. �I love you Ned Ashton.� She replied as she closed her eyes. ~*~ CHAPTER 5 Quatermaine Estate �Grandfather what do you want?� Ned yelled as he walked into the living room. �It took you long enough to get here.� Edward bellowed. �You should be grateful I�m here at all. Alexis isn�t feeling well and I really didn�t want to leave her but you insisted it was important.� �Yes it�s important.� Edward said as he picked up an envelope and threw it down in front of Ned. �What is the meaning of this?� Ned looked down at his wedding invitation and sighed. �Grandfather, Alexis and I told you weeks ago that we were getting married so what�s the problem?� �The problem is I don�t want any Cassidine� sharing the Quatermaine name. They are evil Ned pure and simple, every last one of them.� �I guess this is your way of telling me you won�t be coming to my wedding?� �Oh he�ll be there my darling grandson don�t you worry about it.� Lila said as Reginald wheeled her into the room. Ned walked over to her and gave her a kiss. �Good morning grandmother, you�re looking well this morning.� �That�s because you made my day by finally marring the kind of woman you so do need in your life.� Lila replied. �No man deserves a Cassidine except maybe another Cassidine.� Edward spit out. �Like it or not grandfather in a few months Alexis and I will be married.� Ned yelled as he turned his back on him and walked to the front door. �Good morning.� Liz replied as Ned opened the door. �I didn�t expect to see you here.� �Oh don�t worry you won�t be seeing me for much longer.� Ned shot back as he left. Liz looked around for a moment and then headed upstairs. Emily was lying on her bed staring at the ceiling and looking half-dead. �Is this ever going to stop?� She asked herself as her stomach began to roll again. Liz knocked quietly on the outside of her bedroom door. �Em are you in there?� �Part of me is.� Emily yelled back. �Come on in.� Liz walked in and sat down next to her. �You don�t look so good.� �Trust me I feel a lot worse.� Emily said as she ran past Liz and into the bathroom. A few seconds later Emily came out. �Feeling any better?� Liz asked. �Well I don�t feel sick any more if that�s what you mean.� �Emily why didn�t you and Nikolas use��..Protection?� Emily closed her eyes and shook her head. �We did�..Every time but�� the first time. Who the hell knew you could get pregnant the first time you ever did it.� She added as she threw herself down on her bed. �Excuse Miss Quatermaine, Master Cassidine is on the phone and wishes to speak with you.� Reginald said through the door. �Thanks Reginald.� Emily replied before picking up her phone. �Hey Nikolas what�s up.� �Oh not much I just got to work and figured I�d call you and see if you wanted to meet me for lunch later?� �I can�t.� Emily quickly stated. �Why not?� �I promised Liz I�d spend the day with her, you know just girl stuff.� Emily replied as Liz gave her a strange look. �Okay well then maybe we�ll catch up with each other later.� �Maybe.� Em stated. �Listen my grandfathers calling me I have to go.� �Okay I�ll talk to you later then, bye.� �Bye.� �What was that all about?� Liz asked as Em hung up the phone. �Elizabeth how am I suppose to face Nikolas now?� �Why not now Em he loves you and you love him.� �He�s going to hate me!� Emily screamed. �Emily that�s just plain crazy he loves you.� �He won�t when he finds out I�m pregnant!� �We aren�t not even sure if you are yet.� Liz calmly tried to remind her. �I know I am.� Liz got up and pulled Emily off the bed. �Well go get dressed and we�ll go find out.� �Where are we going?� �The drugstore to buy a home pregnancy test.� �Do those thing really work?� Em asked as she headed into the bathroom to take a shower. �I sure hop so.� Liz replied as she sat on the edge of the bed. L&B Later on that afternoon �I thought you were going to stay home in bed.� Ned said as he walked into Alexis� office. �I feel fine.� She replied as she walked over and gave him a hug. �I must admit you look a lot better.� �Why thank you.� �As a matter of fact you look well enough to come with me down to the bakers and pick out a wedding cake.� Alexis looked at him. �Do we really need a wedding cake?� �Yes we do and flowers and food and music and a photographer and a�� �What do we need pictures for?� �See the pictures are really important.� �Oh yea, why.� �Because if you show up hung over for our wedding I can rub them in your face and tell you it wasn�t just a bad nightmare, we really did get married.� �You�re so cruel.� �I know and that�s why you love me so much.� Ned replied as he kissed her. �I�m sorry I didn�t mean to interrupt you.� Nikolas said as he walked into her office. �I just have some papers here that need you�re signature.� �What are they?� Ned asked Nikolas looked at Alexis and then over to Ned. �They�re in regards to the concert we talked about in New York.� �Thanks Nikolas I�ll look them over and get back to you.� Ned replied as Nikolas left. �So are you planning on opening for a band in New York?� Alexis nervously asked. �I was thinking about it but wanted to know what you thought before I gave them an answer.� Alexis bite her bottom lip and looked down at the ground. �Do you think Lois will bring Brooke since it�s so close to home for them?� �Anything�s possible.� �Oh.� Alexis said as she took a deep breath. Ned could tell by the look on her face and the sound of her voice that she really didn�t want him to do it. �You know what, between planning our wedding and just trying to keep L&B a float, I really don�t have time to be running around playing Eddie Maine. So I�m just going to tell Nikolas to let them know they�ll need to find someone else.� �Well it�s strictly up to you�I mean if you don�t think you have time that�s one thing but don�t turn it down on my behalf.� She stated as she began to fidget with her engagement ring. �No I wouldn�t dream of it, you told me how you feel and I think we�ve worked most of that out.� �Great then.� Ned walked over and kissed her on the cheek. �So are you ready to go?� �Go where?� �To pick out a wedding cake.� Alexis picks up some files off her desk. �Do we really have to do that today, I�ve got so much work that I need to catch up on.� Ned took the files from her and placed them on her desk. He picked up her purse and handed it to her as he took her hand in his. �Yes we do.� He said as he turned off the light and walked out. �Nikolas if any one�s looking for us, tell them we�re out and we won�t be back for the rest of the day.� Ned yelled as they walked down the stairs. Nikolas opened his mouth to say something as Alexis cut him off. �Nikolas I�ll be back in a few hours.� She shot back as they made their way to the front door. �Ignore her Nikolas she didn�t get enough sleep last night.� Ned stated as they left the building. �I can�t believe we are in a drugstore buying a home pregnancy test.� Emily stated. �Well we wouldn�t be here if you and Nikolas had bought condoms.� Liz shot back. Emily just gave her a strange look. �Oh my god what if someone sees us?� �In a drugstore?� �NO buying a pregnancy test.� �Em will you calm down already nobody is going to know what we bought.� Emily picked one up. �Why are there so many different ones?� �I don�t know?� �This ones no good.� Emily said as she put it down. �It says for best results take in the morning.� �Hate to tell you Emily but I think they all do.� Liz replied as she read a box. �There�s no way I can do it tomorrow, I�m suppose to be going into the city with my parents later tonight and I�m not taking it with me.� �Fine then I�ll come over early the next morning and you can do it then.� �I don�t know if I can wait that long.� �It�s not like the test results are going to change Em.� �I know your right, just make sure you come over as soon as you get up.� �Don�t worry I will.� �Thanks you�re the best.� Em says as they hug. |
