CHAPTER 32

Later on that day and overly exhausted Emily and Lucky step onto the elevator carrying way too many bags.

�I�m so glad this is the last store we are going to.� Lucky stated.

�Me too.� Emily shot back as she lends her hand against the wall and somewhat hunches over.

�Are you okay?�

�Ya it�s just the baby that�s all.� Emily took a deep breath. �I don�t think he likes all this running around.�

�He� Lucky jokes as the elevator shifts and then comes to a complete stop.

�Why�d we stop?� Emily yelled as she felt something-wet run down her leg.

�I think we�re stuck.� Lucky replied.

�Oh no!� Emily yelled as she made her way down to the floor.

�Don�t worry Em I�m sure it will start moving again real soon.�

�No Lucky.� Emily yelled as she reached up and pulled him to the floor. �My water just broke.�

�Your water?� Lucky asked clueless

�The baby is coming....NOW!!!!� She screamed out in pain.

~ Gatehouse ~

�Still mad at me?� Ned asked as he walked down the stairs and into the living room.

Alexis looked up at him. �No not really but I do wish you would have told me about your plans concerning Cassidine Industries.�

�I�m sorry.� Ned said as he sat down next to her. �But if it makes you feel better Stefan gave me a run for my money.� He joked

�Actually that wasn�t all Stefan�s doing.� She quietly stated �I�ve been helping Stefan work against you.�

Ned laughed which instantly through Alexis off.

�I don�t see what�s so funny about the two of us working against each other all these months when we could have been working together.�

�No it�s not that.� Ned said trying to control his laughter �It�s just that all along I kept thinking to myself how odd it was that Stefan and you think the same way. Little did I know that�s because it wasn�t Stefan I was fighting it was you.�

Alexis thought about it for a moment and then laughed slightly. �I guess when you put it that way it is kinda funny.�

�I�ll get it.� Ned said as the phone rang.

Alexis pulled him to her. �Let the machine get it.� She stated just before kissing him.

Ned and Alexis continued to kiss each other as the machine picked up. �Hello... hello anybody there please pick up.�

Ned pulled back from Alexis. �That sounds like Lucky.�

�It�s kinda hard to tell through all the static.� Alexis replied. �Maybe you should answer it.�

Ned got up and ran over to the phone. �Lucky is that you.�

�Ned thank god I need your help. Emily and I are in NYC and we�re trapped in an elevator.�

�Did you say you are trapped?� Ned asked as Alexis come up behind him.

�What�s the matter sweetheart?� She asked as Ned held his hand up.

�Lucky it�s really hard to make out what you�re saying. There�s too much static on the line why don�t you hang up and try dialing again.�

�No I can�t.� Lucky yelled as Emily screamed out in pain.

�Was that Emily?� Alexis asked

�I think so.� Ned said �I�m pretty sure he said he�s trapped somewhere with Emily.�

�She�s gone into labor!� Lucky screamed �and we�re trapped in the elevator.�

�Lucky Lucky!� Ned yelled as the phone went dead.

�Ned what is it, what�s wrong?�

�We need to find Nikolas, Emily�s in labor.�

It�s been three hours since Lucky had called and Ned and Alexis still haven�t been able to find Nikolas.

� I don�t understand why he�d turn off his cell phone.� Alexis yelled as she threw her phone onto the couch.

�Sweetheart will find him and everything will be okay.� Ned said as he placed his hands on the back of her shoulders. �But you need to calm down before you go into premature labor yourself.�

Alexis turned in Ned�s arms and he held her tight. �You�re right I�m sorry.�

Just then there was a knock at the door.

�Maybe that�s Nikolas.� Alexis yelled as she ran to the door and pulled it open. �Nikolas thank god where have you been?� She said as she grabbed him and hugged him.

�Alexis what�s wrong?� Nikolas asked as he hugged her back.

�Do you know where Emily and Lucky were going today?� Ned asked

�Emily just said she had a few things to do today and would catch up with me later.� Nikolas replied as he walked into the house. �Is something the matter?�

�Emily and Lucky are in NYC somewhere stuck in an elevator.� Ned stated �I�m waiting to hear back from the police to find out what store they could possible be in.�

�Something else is wrong as well.� He says as he looks at Alexis. �I can tell�

Alexis took Nikolas� hand. �We think Emily has gone into labor.�

�No it�s too soon the baby isn�t due for another month at least.� Nikolas yelled as the phone rang.

�Ned Ashton!� He said into the phone and then hung up �They know where they are.�

�What are we waiting for let�s go get them!� Nikolas yelled as he ran out the door followed closely by Ned and Alexis.

A very painful three hours later

�Lucky it hurts so bad!� Emily screamed

�Help is on its way Em I promise just try and hang in there.�

�I don�t think he�s going to wait much longer he wants to come out now.�

Lucky panicky looked through the bags to see if he could find anything to make her more comfortable.

�Why is this happening?� Emily screamed so loud it hurt.

�Emily you need to try and calm down we�re gonna get out of here.� Lucky stated as he placed a bag under her head for support.

�Emily Emily can you hear me?� Nikolas yelled

Lucky and Emily both looked up as they heard Nikolas� voice coming from above.

Lucky stood up. �Hey man we�re down here why isn�t this thing moving already?�

Nikolas walked away from the closed elevator door and over to where Ned Alexis and a few officers and the building manager stood.

�Why haven�t you gotten them out of there yet?� Nikolas demanded to know.

�Mr. Cassidine we are doing everything possible to get them out.�

�My wife is in labor and your doing nothing but standing around starting at each other.� He yelled as he pulled off his coat and grabbed an axe.

�Mr. Cassidine what are you doing?� An officer asked.

Nikolas placed the axe between the slit in the door and began to pull it open. �I�m going to be with my wife.�

�I can�t let you do that.� The officer yelled as he tried pulling him off the door.

Ned dropped his arms from around Alexis and ran over to give Nikolas a hand pulling back the doors.

�I�m going down there and that�s all there is to it.� Nikolas yelled

�If the two of you don�t stop I�ll have no other choice but to arrest you both.�

Alexis walked over to the office. �His wife is down there just let him go.� She pleaded

�He�s not alone destroying private property but he�s putting his life in danger.�

�I�ll pay for any damages.� Nikolas yelled

�And it�s his life to place in danger.� Alexis shot back.

�I�m sorry the officer yelled as they doors flew open and he grabbed Nikolas by the shoulder. �But I can�t let you do this.

Nikolas nudged his shoulder slightly to get out of his grip and accidentally lost his balance falling into the open elevator shaft.

�Nikolas!� Alexis and Ned both shouted as they watched him fall.
