CHAPTER 29 Sometime has past and both Emily and Alexis are about seven months pregnant. Emily is a few weeks more so then Alexis. Ned and Alexis both agreed to call off the big wedding and elope. They decided not to go on a honeymoon until after the twins were born. Luckily for Alexis Stefan has been out of the country for over a month so he still doesn�t know about the twins, although she doesn�t know Ned and his takeover plans is what has keep Stefan so out of touch. ~The Gatehouse~ Alexis is in her bedroom staring at herself in a full-length mirror. She places her hands over her stomach and turns to the side as a look of disgusted washes over her face. �You look absolutely gorgeous.� Ned replied as he stood in the doorframe. Alexis dropped her hands and pouted onto the bed. �You�re just saying that to make me feel better.� Ned walked over stood in front of her and took her hands in his. �I only speak the truth.� Alexis laughed. �HUH!� Ned titled his head to the side. �Ok so maybe that statement was a little far fetched.� He placed his hand along her cheekbone. �But not when it comes to my beautiful sexy intelligent pregnant wife.� �Eww do you have to use the word wife and pregnant in the same sentence?� Ned smiled brightly flashing his dimples before pulling her into a kiss. �I love you Mrs. Ashton.� �Mrs. Ashton.� She said as she smiled. �How do you think your families going to take the news?� Ned sat down next to her. �I thought we agreed not to tell anyone till after the twins were born. I think it will be a lot less stressful for you if they didn�t know.� Alexis laid her head against him. �I know you�re right.� She sighed �and besides I kinda like being secretly married.� �Oh you do, do you?� �Yea it kinda reminds me of when were dating and nobody could know.� Ned put his arms around her and held her tight just as the doorbell rang. �That�s probably Nikolas.� He got up and kissed her on the forehead� He said he had some papers that needed my signature ASAP.� Alexis lays back onto the pillow. �Well tell him I said hi.� �Will do.� Ned replied as she closed her eyes and he smiled at her before turning around and descending the stairs. �Hello anybody home?� Nikolas asked as he opened the door and stuck his head in. �So what did you find out?� Ned asked as he came down the stairs. �Where�s Alexis?� Nikolas asked as he looked around the room. Ned walked over and took the files he was holding. �Don�t worry she�s upstairs lying down.� He sat on the couch and opened the files.� By the way she told me to say hi.� �How�s she feeling?� Nikolas asked as he sat across from him. Ned keeps looking through the files as he spoke. �Like she 30 pounds overweight and completely unattractive.� �Emily� the same way it seem the more I tell her how great she looks the more she thinks I�m lying to her.� Nikolas replied back through laughter. Ned looked up from the file. �Don�t worry Nikolas it will all be over soon and then the real fun begins.� �Speaking of fun.� Nikolas shot out. �It looks like our plan is working.� Ned closed the file and stood up. �That it does my boy.� He walked over to the window and stared out. �Before anybody knows what hit them Cassidine Industries will be ours.� ~*~ ~ Kelly�s ~ Later on that afternoon Alexis walks into Kelly� and sits down. �What can I get for you Alexis?� Elizabeth asked as she walked over. �What I�d really love is a very strong cup of coffee.� Alexis laughed out. �But Ned would kill me if he found out. So why don�t you just bring me some water with a twist of lime? I�ll order lunch when Emily gets here.� �Did somebody mention my name?� Emily asks as she walks in and sits down. �Hello Elizabeth.� She looks at Alexis. �Sorry I�m late.� �Oh that�s okay I just got here myself.� �And what big plans do you two have for the day?� Elizabeth asked. �We are going baby shopping.� Emily stated overjoyed. Alexis cell phone rings. �Alexis Davis.� �I need you to get over to Windermere right away!� Stefan demanded �Well hello Stefan it�s always a pleasure to here from you as well.� Alexis stated sarcastically. �Cassidine Industries is falling faster then I thought.� He replied as he stood in his study and picked up a file. �And there is something you need to know.� He stated annoyingly as he dropped the file showing the name Ned Ashton. �Stefan I have plans and I don�t feel like changing them.� She said as she looked at Emily, who just smiled. �Wait a minute when did you get back?� �That doesn�t matter, just get over here now!� He yelled as he hung up the phone. �Well okay.� Alexis said as she hung up her phone. �That�s ok Alexis we can go baby shopping another time.� Emily said as she started to stand up. Alexis grabbed her hand and she sat back down. �We will do no such thing. I promised to buy you lunch and in return you�d help me shop for the twins.� ~*~ About four hours later Alexis comes walking into the gatehouse carrying way to many bags. She drops them on the floor and goes and leans against the couch. She places her hand on her back and arches it forward. She looks down at the bags and sighs. �Oh god why did I buy so much.� Ned walked in the house and looked down at the packages scattered amongst the floor. �Was there anything in the store you didn�t buy?� Alexis gave him a look as she titled her head to one side. �There�s more in the car.� Ned smilingly made his way through the mess and over to Alexis. He kissed her nose and wrapped his arms around her waist. �Back hurting?� He asked in a loving tone. �Yes it�s been hurting most the day.� She replied as she laid her forehead into his shoulder. Ned took her hand and walked her over to the couch. He helped her sit down and she laid her back against the soft pillows. He picked up her legs and placed them on the coffee table. �You just sit there and relax and I�ll go up and draw you a nice hot bubble bath.� Alexis closed her eyes and relaxed slightly. �Sounds like heaven.� ~*~ ~The cottage ~ And how is my lovely wife this evening. �Nikolas asked as he walked up behind Emily and wrapped his arms around her.� Emily relaxed in his arms. �I didn�t except you home so early. I thought you said you had a latte business meeting.� Nikolas kissed her cheek and then dropped his arms from around her and removed his coat. �Well the meeting got postponed until next week. Which of course isn�t going to make Ned happy because L&B was really counting on this companies support.� He sat on the couch. �And the state L&B is in at the moment, time really isn�t something it can afford to waste.� Emily sat down next to him and he placed his arm around her. �I thought L&B was doing a lot better these days?� �It was until about a month ago.� He took a deep breath. �But then Ned stopped performing all together as Eddie Maine and because of it we lost our distribution contract. And well one thing led to another and L&B is worse off now then it�s even been.� �I know you love that company as much as Ned does.� �You know it�s not as much the company as it is Ned.� Nikolas replied. �He was there for me when I needed him and I really feel like I�m letting him down.� Emily looked up at him. �Ned knows you�re doing everything possibly for L&B or he wouldn�t have left you in control of it for the last few months.� Nikolas kissed her lips and then pulled her head to his chest and hugged her. �I know you�re right but I still feel like I�m letting him down.� �Maybe so but I know he doesn�t see it that way.� �What do you say we talk about something else?� Nikolas said. �Like what you did all day today.� �Well this after noon I had lunch with Alexis and then we went baby shopping.� She sat up. �I so can�t wait to show you what I bought.� Nikolas just smiled at her and laughed. �What?� She asked �I just can�t believe we�re going to have a baby.� Emily placed her hand on her stomach. �Not just a baby our baby.� �Our baby.� Nikolas shot back as he placed his hand lovingly on her stomach as well. |
