CHAPTER 27 It�s been four weeks and Emily seemed to be doing well enough that the doctor said she could go home. Monica only stayed in Greece for another few days as she had to get back to work. The time with her daughter however served them both well as Monica agreed to except both Nikolas and their unborn child into the family. ~The Cottage ~ �Oh it�s so nice to be home.� Emily replied as Nikolas carried her through the front door and placed her on the couch. Nikolas walked back over to the front door and closed it. �Now remember you have an appointment with Dr. Newman first thing tomorrow morning.� �I somehow doubt you�re going to let me forget.� Emily mocked Nikolas was about to say something as he heard a knock on the door. �Saved by the bell.� Nikolas joked �Actually I think it was more of a knock.� Emily spat back jokingly. �Ha ha very funny.� Nikolas replied as he opened the door. �Well it�s about time you two came home.� Lucky stated as he walked right pass Nikolas and over to Emily kissing her on her head. �These are for you my love.� He added as he handed her a lovely arrangement of flowers. Emily took them from him. �Thanks Lucky there beautiful.� �Not half as beautiful as you.� He said as he gave her another welcome home kiss. �Okay stop flirting with my wife.� Nikolas joked. Emily placed her nose into the flowers to get the full effect of the smell. �Uh chew!� �God bless you.� Nikolas replied before looking over at Lucky. �I see you went all out and got her the real expensive flowers.� He joked. �Hey it�s the thought that counts.� Lucky stated �Well next think a little more of her.� Nikolas joked back. ~*~ Ned and Alexis left Greece about a week before Emily and Nikolas. Ned continued his attack on Cassidine� industries except Stefan became more of his main goal instead of Helena. Alexis meet with Stefan and told him she�d help him with his quest to find out whose behind the takeover of Cassidine Industries. She however never confronted him about possibly being behind the threat that almost cost Emily her child and she didn�t inform Ned of her plans to help him.. ~The Gatehouse ~ Ned is on the phone talking to Brad. Ned looks up the stairs to make sure Alexis isn�t coming. �Listen Brad I don�t want Cassidine getting to close.� �Don�t worry Ned I�m on it. Cassidine will never know where the fatal blow came from.� Brad replied �He better not or it could cost me everything.� �Have I ever let you down in the past?� Ned heard Alexis coming down the stairs. �Just make sure you get back to me on this matter right away.� Ned said before hanging up. Alexis walked up to Ned and placed her arms around his waist. �That sounded important.� He kissed her passionately. �Just L&B business.� He replied after breaking the kiss. �So are you ready for you�re appointment?� �I can�t believe we�re actually going to get our first look at the baby.� Ned placed his hand on her stomach. �I wonder if she�ll look anything like you?� Alexis laughed. �And here I thought you wanted a boy.� �I haven�t made up my mind 100 percent yet.� He thought for a moment. �Some day's I want a son more then a daughter and some days I want a daughter more then a son.� �I don�t care what it is.� She replied as she put her hand on his face and squished it. �As long as it has you�re dimples.� He lend forward and kissed her lightly. �And you�re eyes.� �Come on lets go or well be late.� She stated as she picked up her coat. Ned helped her put on her coat and then opened the door for her. �You know Alexis since some days I want a daughter and others a son............� �Lets just get through this pregnancy first.� Alexis laughed cutting him off. Ned laughed smacking her in the rear as he closed the door behind them. ~*~ ~ The Cottage ~ �Anyone for Pizza?� Liz asked as she walked into the house. �What no ribs from Eli�s?� Lucky asked �Or you�re famous brownies.� Nikolas added Elizabeth ignored them as she walked over to Emily and placed the pizza�s on the coffee table. �Sorry guys but Emily here requested pizza.� �It�s one of the best parts about being pregnant.� Emily stated before taking a bite. �You can eat just about anything and worry about losing the weight later.� �And just what�s the best part about being pregnant?� Liz asked Emily smiled and looked up at Nikolas. �Having the love of you�re life do anything you want when ever you want it.� They all laughed and Liz gave Lucky a strange look. �Really.....anything?� Liz asked. �Don�t even think about it!� Lucky stated loudly. Nikolas placed his arm around his brothers shoulder. �My child could use a playmate his own age.� Lucky pushed his arm off of him and picked up a piece of pizza. �Then next time I suggest you try for twins.� Liz walked over to Lucky and kissed the side of his face. �Of come on wouldn�t you just love the idea of being a daddy.� She joked. �That�s it until this baby phase of yours wears off .......you�re not getting any!� Lucky joked. �Any what?� Nikolas asked trying to be annoying. Emily picked up a napkin rolled it into a ball and threw it at him. �Any of the same that you won�t be getting for a while after this baby is born.� Nikolas went over and sat next to her. �Then how are we going to work on those twins.� �We�re not!� She yelled. The four of them spent the next two hours eating junk food and joking like they didn�t have a care in the world. Meanwhile unbeknownst to them Stefan had been outside lurking around. ~*~ ~ Dr. Newman�s Office ~ Alexis is sitting on the examining table eagerly waiting for the doctor. �You know Alexis if you don�t calm down Dr. Newman is going to think something�s wrong with you.� Ned joked �I just can�t wait.� She replied. �Ouch!� �Are you okay?� Ned asked Alexis smiled wide and grabbed Ned�s hand placing it on her stomach. �I just felt the baby kick......can you feel it?� �I don�t feel anything.� Ned replied �Don�t worry Mr. Ashton before long you�ll be able to feel you�re baby kick as well.� Dr. Newman said as she walked in. �Of course not nearly as much as Alexis will.� Ned took his hand off of Alexis stomach and helped her lye back. �I�m actually more looking forward to holding my baby then I am feeling him kick.� �Are we back to wanting a boy? �Alexis asked. Ned kissed the back of Alexis� hand. �Sorry sweetie that one just slipped.� Alexis laughed at him and he pulled her shirt up for the doctor. �Okay Alexis this is going to be a little cold.� Dr. Newman said just before squeezing gel all over her stomach. �A little cold?� Alexis yelled. Ned held her hand tight as they both watched the monitor. �Well there he or she is.� Dr. Newman stated. �Doesn�t look much like a baby.� Ned stated Dr. Newman smiled at him. �Sure it does there�s one little arm and there�s another.......� Dr. Newman continued to name out parts of the baby when all of a sudden she stopped. �Dr. Newman is something wrong?� A panicked Alexis asked. �No your baby is doing fine.� The doc replied as she continued to scan her stomach. �There�s something you�re not telling us isn�t there?� Ned asked as he placed his hand on Alexis head and tried to calm her. �Actually there is.� Dr. Newman stated �Oh god no!� Alexis screamed nearly in tears. Dr. Newman quickly looked over at her. �No Alexis it�s nothing bad.� �Then what is it?� Ned asked �Well do you hear that?� �Yes it�s our baby�s heartbeat right.? Alexis asked. �No it�s more like your babies heartbeat.� Dr. Newman smilingly stated. �Babies as in more then one.� A shocked Ned asked �Yep.� Dr. Newman replied. �Congratulations it looks like twins.� She smiled at him �I�ll print you out a few pictures to take home with you.� Alexis didn�t say a word as she desperately tried to catch her breath. �I�ll have the pictures waiting for you up at the main desk.� Dr. Newman said before leaving the room. Ned helped Alexis sit up. �So are you going to say anything?� Alexis just looked at him. �I don�t know if I can do this.� He took both hers hands into his own and looked her straight in the eyes. �We can do this!� Alexis closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She reopened them as tears filled her eyes. �We�re going to have twins!� She stated scarred to death. �And it�s all my fault.� He joked �What are you talking about?� He took his two fingers and wiped away the tears that slowly fell. �I couldn�t make up my mind if I want a boy or a girl.....so god decided to give us both.� Alexis couldn�t help but laugh, making the tears fall even faster. �I don�t recall Dr. Newman saying anything about their sex.� Ned kissed her on the forehead. �Let�s just call it a daddy thing.� They both laughed as Ned helped her off the table and helped her on with her coat. �Come on mommy lets go home.� |
