CHAPTER 24

Ned was still sitting on the bathroom floor holding a crying Alexis in his arms. Slowly he stood and picked her up. Carefully he made his way over to the bed and laid her down. She couldn�t stop crying as she placed her face in the pillow. Ned walked back into the bathroom and got a washcloth out of the closet. He ran warm water over it and brought it to her. Alexis sat up as he gently wiped her face. Slowly she caught her breath and stopped crying.

�I�m sorry Ned I don�t know what came over me I just started crying and I couldn�t stop.�

Ned smiled at her. �Hey don�t worry about it, I have days like that.�

�Yea right I�m sure you just looked at yourself in the mirror one day and started bawling you�re eyes out.�

Ned thought for a moment. �Well no but one day I woke up in bed and found Katherine lying next to me.� Alexis gave him an evil look. �And she said good morning husband of mine and I bawled out crying.�

Alexis hit his face with the wet cloth. �That�s not even funny.� she stated as she tried her hardest not to laugh.

Ned�s smiled got wider and his dimples even more deeper. �Oh yea I can see just how funny it isn�t.�

Alexis made a funny face at him and then somewhat started to laugh.

�Oh no that will never do.� Ned replied as he placed his hands under her shirt and around her waist. �I want to see you laugh so hard that the next time you run into the bathroom it will be to change you�re pants.� He added and with that tickled her something awful.

�Ned stop you know I hate to be tickled.� Alexis scream as she tried to fight him off.

�What do I get if I stop?� Ned asked as he continued to torture her.

�Anything....anything you want.�

�Will you tell me why you were crying before?�

�Yes....Yes I�ll tell you.�

Ned continued to tickle her. �I�m not sure but I don�t think I caught that! What did you say.�

�Yes Yes Yes I�ll tell you.� She screamed.

Ned stopped and looked into her eyes. �Okay I�m waiting......tell me.�

Alexis opened hr mouth to say something but she just couldn�t seem to spit the words out. So after a few minutes of strange looks between the two Ned grabbed her waist and started tickling her again.

�Okay...Okay ....I got sick because I�m pregnant!�

Ned was so in to torturing her that he didn�t even hear what she said.

�I�m pregnant.� Alexis screamed again. �We�re going to have a baby.�

Ned stop instantly. �Did you just say what I think you said?�

Alexis looked him in the eyes and bit her bottom lip.

�We�re going to have a baby......but how....... I thought you said you weren�t.�

�There was a mistake and it turns out that I am after all.�

Ned sat up straight. �A baby we�re really going to have a baby.�

�We�re really going to have a baby.� Alexis replied quietly not sure how Ned was going to take the news once again.

Ned didn�t say a word as he pushed Alexis back onto the pillow and undid her shirt. Carefully he placed his head on her stomach. �Hey there little one this is you�re daddy and I can�t believe after everything you�re actually in their.�

Alexis began playing with Ned�s hair as he continued to talk to their unborn child.

�You know little one if you�re mommy and I knew you were in there she would have already had me out shopping and decorating you�re room.

Alexis pulled lightly on his hair causing him to look at her. �And just where would that room of hers be? I mean I don�t recall us talking about where we�d live after we got married.�

Ned thought for a moment before placing his head back down on her stomach. �Well I�d say from your mommy�s tone of voice that the first thing we have to do is find you a room.� He took a deep breath. �And apparently somewhere other then the gatehouse.�

�See and your family thinks you�re slow.� Alexis stated jokingly.

Ned sat up slightly. �So do you have any brilliant ideas in that head of yours?�

�A lot.� Alexis replied seductively.

�Sounds like fun.� He stated while flashing his dimples. �But I was actually talking about what kind of house you�d like to live in, or where for that matter.�

�I don�t care where we live as long as it�s not in walking distance from any of our family members.�

�Not even Nikolas and Emily?� Ned asked.

Alexis smiled at him. �What can I say I want you all to myself.�

Ned brought his face closer to hers. �And just what do you plan on doing with me Ms. Davis?�

Alexis pulled his face down bringing his lips inches from hers. They were so close he could feel her hot breath and seductively she stated. �More then you can even imagine.�

�When can we get started?� Ned asked through tiny little kisses before he overtook her mouth with his.

�Alexis Alexis help me there�s something wrong with Emily!� Nikolas yelled as he ran into the room.

Ned and Alexis both jumped off the bed and followed him into the other room.

Alexis ran over and took Emily�s hand. �Emily, honey what is it where does it hurt?�

�I�m calling the doctor!� Ned yelled.

�No Ned don�t.� Emily stated firmly. �I�m fine Nikolas is just being way overprotected.�

�He said you were in pain.� said Alexis.

Emily looked up at Nikolas. �I was, but it was nothing more then normal pregnancy pains.�

Emily turned his focus on Alexis and Ned hung up the phone.

�Come on Nikolas why don�t we go downstairs and find something for your wife to eat.� Ned stated as he put his arm around Nikolas. �Is there anything you�ve been craving for Emily?�

�She craves for everything.� Nikolas jokingly stated.

Emily have smiled at him. �Well I�d love a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a tall glass of ice cold milk.�

�You can have anything you want and you want a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?� Ned asked a little shocked by her request.

�Well I�d also like to go home but somehow I don�t think my husband there is going to let me go anywhere.�

�We�ll go home when the doctor says you can go home and not a minute sooner!� Nikolas replied.

�Alexis sweetheart while we�re in the kitchen is there anything you�d like?� Ned asked as Emily and Nikolas exchanged evil looks at one another.

�Yea.....but I think you know what I want.� Alexis answered.

Ned tilted his head and flash his dimples. �I meant from the kitchen.�

Alexis and Emily both laughed as Ned and Nikolas left the room. Emily got out up bed and walked over to the window.

�Emily maybe you should get back in bed.�

�Alexis how am I suppose to do it?�

�Do what Emily?�

�Tell Nikolas what really happened.� She shock her head and turned to look out the window. �You saw him just now, I had one simple pregnancy pain and he goes into a full panic.......can you imagine what he�d do if he found out a couple of Helena�s men threatened me and his child?�

Alexis walked over to Emily and took her hand. �Emily sooner or later you�re going to have to tell him.� Alexis simply stated as she pulled Emily back over to the bed helping her get back in. �I don�t want to scare you anymore then you are, but if Helena sent her men for you once she�ll do it again.�

�Alexis I need Nikolas and I�m not leaving him!�

�Emily I don�t want you to leave him I want you to tell him so he can protect you.�

�I don�t know how to tell him.� Emily said clearly scared of what he might do.

�Fine then let me talk to him.� Alexis replied. �I�ll tell him what happened and make sure he knows that you�re scared he�ll do something crazy.�

�Thank you Alexis.� Emily replied as she sat up and gave her a hug.

�I need you to do me a favor though.�

Emily let go of her and laid back down.

�I need you to calm down and put all thoughts of Helena or her men out of your head for now.� Alexis said as Nikolas walked back into the room. �And I�ll talk to him later after dinner.�

�Your peanut butter and Jelly sandwich my dear.� Nikolas said handing it to her.

�Have I told you how much I love you yet today.� Emily asked as she took the sandwich from him.

�No but as soon as you are felling better I�ll show you just how much I love you.� Nikolas replied as he kissed her.

�Well I�ll take that as my cue to leave.� Alexis stated

Emily looked at her �Thanks for everything.�

�Are you coming back to the other room so we can finish what we were starting or what?� Ned asked as he walked up behind a startled Alexis.

Alexis turns around to look at him. �That all depends on what you brought me from the kitchen.�

Ned picks Alexis up causing her to scream. �It�s in the other room.�

�You know I can walk Mr. Ashton.� Alexis said as they made their way into the hall.

Ned kissed her. �If you didn�t want me to carry you then you should have just told me to put you down.� He said as he dropped her in the middle of the bed.

�I thought you said you brought me something to eat.�

�I did.� He replied �now close your eyes and play along.�

�To what?� Alexis asked not sure if she wanted to know the answer.

�Close your eyes.� Ned repeated as he placed his hand over her face.

Alexis closed her eyes and Ned laughed. He then began unbuttoning her blouse causing Alexis to open her eyes.

�I thought there was food involved in the game of yours?�

�There is.� he stated seductively. �Now close your eyes!�

Alexis closed her eyes again. Ned bent down and picked up a bowl full of ice cream and dropped a spoon full on her stomach.

Alexis screamed and opened her eyes wide as the coldness shot right through her. �Ned Ashton I�m going to kill you!�

�What a way to die!� he stated as he added different types of toppings over the ice cream.

�You know this baby�s first words are going to be ice cream.�

�And every time the baby says it I�ll remember this.� Ned stated as handed her a different bowl of ice cream with toppings.

Alexis took the bowl from him and gave him a strange look. Ned flashed his dimples at her, gave her a light kiss on the top of the head and then began eating the ice cream off her stomach.
