CHAPTER 22 ~ Alexis� Suite ~ Alexis walked out of her bedroom in an elegant yet sexy negligee and turned down the lights. She took a deep breath and placed her hand on her stomach. �Your daddy is going to be so happy.� she stated as she began lighting the candles that she had strategically placed around the room. �There that outta do it!� She said as she blew out the match! She then walked over to the stereo and put in her favorite Eddie Maine CD. She stood there and listened to it for a minute before she started unknowingly singing along. Ned could here the music playing in the background and though a moment about how beautiful she looked when he first sang her that song in front of the fireplace. Her eyes sparkled and he could feel her love surrounding him. He shook his head and could have kicked himself as he realized even back then he loved her but yet he never told her. Man how much time they wasted being afraid of their feelings for one another. He though to himself as he opened the door. The smile on his face grew even wider as he caught the sight of her lying on the couch singing, something he never though he�d ever hear her do. He unloosened his tie and unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt. He lend his body against her desk and removed his shoes, she still was unaware of his presents as her singing got even louder. Alexis words fell short as she rolled over on to her side and caught sight of him. �Don�t stop on my account.� Ned replied as he walked over to her and sat on the edge of the couch. �How long have you been there?� She asked as her face turned beat red. He placed his hand on her face and looked deep into her eyes. �Long enough to know you sing that song a hell of a lot better then I do.� �I didn�t know musicians were allowed to be tone death.� She joked. �I still don�t know why after all these years you insist on selling yourself short.� She sat up as the phone rang. �I�m not selling my self-short I�m just being realistic.� He rolled his eyes at her as she answered the phone. �Alexis Davis.� �Alexis I can�t find her.......she was here one minute and now she�s gone......Helena must have her.� Nikolas said as he looked out the window of the Cassidine Estate back in Greece. Alexis face became very serious and Ned began to worry. �Nikolas you need to calm down and tell me what you�re talking about.� �It�s Emily she�s gone Alexis!� �What do you mean gone?� Alexis yelled. �We were on our way back home I went to take a phone call and when I went to get her she was gone.� �Nikolas calm down.� She stated as Ned put his arm around her. �Did you check the grounds completely?� �Alexis what�s gone on?� Ned asked. �They�ve been searching for her for the last three hours.� Nikolas yelled back. �Nikolas why did you wait so long to call me?� �I figured she just got lost walking around and the guards would find her and bring her back.......Alexis what if Helena has her?� �Alexis what�s happing?� Ned asked again a little annoyed. Alexis sorta waved Ned off which made him even more upset. �Nikolas don�t even think that.� �But Alexis if Helena has her she�ll kill......� Nik words were cut short and he dropped the phone as he ran out the door yelling. �Emily!� �Nikolas, Nikolas what�s happening?� Alexis yelled. Alexis what the hell is going on?� Ned asked �I�m not sure Nikolas said Emily was missing and he thought Helena might have her and the next thing I know he must have dropped the phone because I heard him yell out her name from a distance. Ned grabbed the phone from Alexis. �Nikolas, Nikolas are you there......answer me damn it!� Ned looked back at Alexis.� Get me my cell phone from my jacket and call the hanger.......we�re going back to Greece.� ~Outside the Compound ~ Nikolas was running faster then he ever thought possible. �Emily, Emily!� He yelled as he grabbed her and picked her up off the ground. �Nikolas it hurts.� Emily screamed as she held her stomach. �I�ll kill Helena if she hurting you and our child!� He stated as he ran into the house and laid her down on the couch. �Jennings, Jennings get in here.� The butler Mr. Jennings came running into the room. �Yes sir what is it?� �My wife needs a doctor, call someone NOW!� �Yes sir right away.� He said as he left the room. �Nikolas picks up the phone!� Nik faintly heard in the background but didn�t respond. �AWWWW� Emily screamed louder then before. �Nikolas please I can�t lose this baby.� �Emily sweetie it�s going to be okay a doctor is on the way.� He said as he rubbed his fingers through her hair. �I love you and I�m here for you.� �Damn it Nikolas!� Ned yelled through the receiver �Nikolas is that Ned� voice I hear?� Emily asked Nikolas looked over at the phone. �Oh no I called Alexis when I couldn�t find you.� �Maybe you should tell them you......awwwwwww......found me!� Nikolas kissed the top of Emily� head and reach out for his phone. �Ned I found her but there�s something wrong with the baby!� �Alexis just called the hanger we�ll be there as soon as possible.� �Okay I�ll have everything ready for your landing!� Nikolas said before he hung up. �Nikolas please make the pain stop!� Emily screamed �I�d do anything I could to make you feel better.� A helpless Nikolas stated as he held her tight. ~*~ ~ Unknown Location ~ Two figures are standing in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse. �Is it all taken care of?� Figure 1 asked �Just as you asked!� Figure 2 replied �No complications?� �Not with getting your message across.� �So then Ms. Quatermaine knows the consequences of remaining Mrs. Cassidine?� �She knows what will happen to both her and her child if she doesn�t leave Nikolas after the child is born.� �And what will happen if she tells Nikolas about your conversation?� �I made that clear as well.� �Maybe to clear!� Another person yelled as they approached them. �Meaning what!!!� Figure one yelled! �There might not be a Cassidine heir after all!� The third person stated. �I never touch Ms. Quatermaine!� Figure two said. �It�s seems she�s losing the baby as we speak!� Figure three said. �You were told not to hurt her under any circumstances.� Figure one annoyingly yelled. �I swear when I left her she was fine......scared but fine!� Figure two said completely fearing for his life. The first figure moved closer to the second figure. �If she loses the baby be prepaid to lose your life as well.� He yelled. �Now both of you be gone and keep me well informed.� �Yes sir, but there�s something else you should be aware of.� The third person stated. �What is it?� �Ned Ashton and your sister have just left the country. They�re on their way back to Greece!� �Keep an eye on them as well. I want to know what there up to every minute that they�re there!� Stefan yelled before walking off! ~*~ ~ Later on that night ~~ Greek Islands ~ �Nikolas we got here as soon as we could.� Ned yelled as he ran into the room with Alexis. �Where�s Emily?� Alexis asked �She�s upstairs with the doctor.� Nik answered Alexis walked over to him and gave him a hug. �Why aren�t you with her?� �I can�t do this Alexis.....I can�t stand there and just watch her suffer like that.� �okay I understand.� Alexis replied. �Why don�t you stay here with Ned and I�ll go check on her.� �Thanks Alexis that would be great.� Nik replied as he gave her one more hug. �Come on Nikolas why don�t we sit down.� Ned stated. Nikolas sat down on the couch next to Ned. �Ned she can�t lose this baby.......she wants it so much.� �I know she does and I know I wasn�t thrilled to find out she was pregnant at such a young age but she doesn�t deserve this....no woman does.� �Oh my god.� Nikolas yelled. �Do you think all this stress is too much on Alexis....?I mean I�d hate for her to lose her baby as well.� �It�s a little late for that.� Ned sadly replied. �What do you mean? Did she have a miscarriage?� �No she found out that she wasn�t pregnant after all.� �I�m so sorry.� Ned put his hand on Nikolas� shoulder. �Hey half the fun of having a baby is making it.� he got up and walked across the room. �Maybe will seriously try to have a child......who knows.� Ned tried to make Nikolas think that he wasn�t all that upset that Alexis found out she wasn�t pregnant, but there was just something about the way Ned spoke that made him think differently. ~*~ �Hey mind if I come in?� Alexis asked as she slowly opened the door. �No were done here.� The doctor replied. �How is she?� Alexis asked. The doctor looked at Emily. �She came very close to losing her baby.....closer then I like.� Alexis walked over and took Emily� hand in hers. �I�ve giving her stick orders to remain in bed for the rest of her pregnancy.� The doctor continued. �It�s very important that she remains calm and stress free.� �Is it okay for her to travel back to the states?� Alexis asked �I�d wait at least a week.� The doctor replied. �Thank you so much for saving my baby.� Emily stated. The doctor smiled at her and then looked over at Alexis. �I�m going to be going now and she should be fine as long as she follows orders. If she is in the slightest bit of pain I want you to call me right away.� �Don�t worry doc I�m sure my nephew isn�t going to let her do anything but follow orders.� Alexis walked him to the bedroom door. �Thank you so much for coming all the way out here.� They shook hands and the doctor left. Alexis looked back towards Emily and smiled as she found her sound asleep. She quietly made her way over to her and covered her with the blanket. Emily stirred a little and opened her eyes slightly then closing them again. �Thanks Alexis.� Alexis sat on the edge of her bed. �For what?� Emily opened her eyes and looked up at her. �Just for coming here to be with Nikolas.� �I also came here for you and don�t worry until you�re able to travel Ned and I aren�t going anywhere.� Emily closed her eyes again. �Can you tell Ned I love him and ask Nikolas to come upstairs?� �I will� Alexis kissed Emily� forehead and got up. �We all love you Emily and if you need anything Ned and I will be just down the hall.� ~*~ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHAPTER 23 Ned and Nikolas are still sitting in the living room talking when Alexis walks in. Ned gets up and walks over to her. �We just saw the doctor and he said she�s going to be fine.� Alexis smiles at him and looks over at Nikolas. �She�s asking for ya.� Nikolas nods his head and runs up the stairs. Ned pulls Alexis over to the couch and they sit down. �Alexis is something the matter?� A nervous Ned asked. �Did the doctor tell you something that he didn�t tell Nikolas and myself?� Alexis takes his hand. �No it�s nothing like that.� She kisses him lightly on the cheek. �Then what is it, I can tell something�s bothering you?� �It�s just when I was talking to Emily she seemed off.� �Sweetheart she�s probably just scared. I mean she came really close to losing her baby earlier today.� Alexis got up and walked over to the balcony doors and stared out. �It just seemed like more then that, that�s all.� Ned walked behind her and placed his arms around her. �Listen it�s late why don�t we got upstairs and get some sleep. I�m sure things will look better in the morning.� �I suppose you�re right I just wish I knew what happened.� Ned took her hand before pulling her into a kiss. He broke the kiss and looked deep into her eyes. �Come on let�s go to bed.� Alexis didn�t say much as they made their way up the stairs. She stops just outside of Emily�s room and lightly knocked. �Hey can we come in for a minute?� �Sure Alexis.� Emily replied spotting Ned. �I was kinda hoping to get a goodnight kiss from my favorite cousin before he went to bed anyway. Nikolas got up from the edge of the bed and Ned walked over to Emily giving her a huge hug. �You know you shouldn�t scare me like that it�s not very nice.� Ned stated. �I�m sorry Ned I just decided to go for a walk and I got lost and by the time I finally saw the house I got such a bad pain in my stomach and I couldn�t handle it.� Alexis watched Emily�s face closely as she continued to tell both Ned and Nikolas about the pain she was having. There was just something about the way Emily keep looking away and the tone in her voice that told Alexis she wasn�t telling the truth. �So honey why don�t we go to bed?� Ned stated as he placed his arms around Alexis causing her to jump. �A little out of it are we?� Ned asked jokingly �Probably jet lag.� Nikolas replied. Ned and Alexis said their goodnights and left the room. Nikolas sat on the bed next to Emily and held her hand. �Is there anything I can get you? Anything at all?� �No I don�t really need anything, but there is something you can do for me.� �And what�s that?� Nikolas asked. �You could get undressed and join me. It�s rather lonely in this big bed all by myself.� �If that�s what you really want.� Nikolas joked as he began undressing himself. Emily smiled at him as he crawlded under the sheets and placed his hand on her stomach. �You know this is one lucky baby you�re carrying.� �Because he or she is going to have you as a father.� Emily replied. �No because he is going to have you as a Mother.� Nikolas shot back before over taking her lips with his. ~*~ The Next Morning Ned rolled over to find Alexis not in bed. He sat up quickly and scanned the room. When he saw no sight of her he got up and put on his bathrobe. Ned made his way out into the hall and stopped just outside Emily and Nikolas� room. He could hear Emily and Alexis talking. He smiled and went to turn around and go back to bed when something Alexis said made him stop and listen more closely. �Emily you don�t need to be afraid of Helena. If she did something to hurt you or you�re baby I need to know.� �Alexis I told you nothing happened nobody attacked me I was just taking a walk and I go lost.� Emily replied. �Emily I can�t help you unless you let me.� Emily looked away as tears fell down her eyes. �Emily I know you�re scared and trust me I pent most of my life being scared of that woman.� Alexis placed a hand on Emily�s cheek and made her look at her. �I need you to tell me what really happened to you.� Emily sat up slightly and pulled Alexis into a hug. As the tears fell faster down her face Emily cried out. �I don�t know Alexis I don�t know who they were. These two men told me they�d kill both my child and me if I didn�t divorce Nikolas and leave him to raise our child alone.� Alexis took a deep breath and rubbed Emily�s back and she started to relive the hell she went through growing up with the Cassidine�s. Ned couldn�t believe what he was hearing; Helena threatened to kill Emily and her child. Just as Ned was about to walk into the room and help Alexis comfort Emily Nikolas walked up behind him with a tray of food. �Good morning Ned, sleep well?� Emily heard Nikolas in the hall and quickly sat back and wiped her tears. �Please Alexis you can�t tell anyone, please. I don�t want Nikolas to know.� Alexis held Emily�s hands to calm her. �I won�t say a word for now I promise.� �You can�t tell Ned either.� Emily stated as Ned and Nikolas walked into the room. �Can�t tell Ned what?� Nikolas asked as he sat the tray on the table and walked over to her kissing the top of her head. Emily looked at Alexis and Alexis just smiled. �I think they�re plotting against you Ned.� Nikolas jokingly remarked. Ned didn�t say anything but he did give Alexis a strange look that caused her to quickly change the subject. �Remember the doctor is coming by soon Emily. So I think you should eat before he gets here.� Alexis turned and took Ned�s hand. �And speaking of food I�m starved myself. So why don�t we let these two newlyweds be by themselves and go down and check out what�s for breakfast?� Before Ned could open his mouth to reply Alexis pulled him out of the room causing Emily and Nikolas to bust out laughing. �You know I can just see their wedding day.� Emily replied. �The minister will say do you Ned Ashton take......� �And Alexis will scream yes he does before the minister even gets to finish the sentence.� Nikolas laughed cutting her off. �They really do love one another and I can�t believe it�s taken them this long to decide to finally make it legal.� Nikolas kissed the back of Emily�s hand. �I�m glad we didn�t wait that long.� ~*~ �Care for a donut my love?� Ned asked as he placed a donut under Alexis� nose. �No thanks I�m not hungry.� Alexis replied as she walked away. Ned just shook his head as he followed her outside. �I thought you said you were hungry?� Alexis looked at him. �I was but now I�m not.� �Alexis is was less then two minutes ago that you said you were straved.� �I know I just thought Nikolas and Emily needed to be alone.� Alexis shot back as she walked back inside. �No you just didn�t want to answer Nikolas� question!� Ned stated with an upset tone. �What Question?� Alexis asked as she took the donut from Ned and took a bite. �Don�t play coy with me Alexis Davis I know something's up.� �Other then the sky not much.� Alexis mockingly replied as she made her way over to the stairs. Ned just gave her a don�t be cute with me look that made Alexis grind her teeth and quickly make her way up the stairs. Ned threw his head back and then followed her upstairs and into their room. �So are you going to tell me what happened between you and Emily this morning or not?� �OR not!� Alexis simple stated as she laid back onto the bed. Ned placed his hands over his face and then rubbed them down. �Fine then if you won�t tell me I�ll tell you.� �Tell me what? Alexis asked sitting up. �That I overheard what Emily said to you about Helena.� �Ned please don�t do anything stupid, let me handle this.� �You�re not handling anything Ms. Davis.� Ned shot back as he made his way over to the bed. �I don�t need Helena threatening your life as well.� �Helena has no reason to hurt me Ned.� �And I don�t want you giving her one.� He took her hands in his and looked deep into her eyes. �Alexis I love you...you�re the reason I get up in the morning.....You�re the soul I never knew I had and if Helena did something to you and I let her I�d never forgive myself.� Alexis placed both her hands on Ned�s cheeks. �Ned Ashton nothing is going to happen to me...to us.� She placed her forehead against his. �You�re not going to get rid of me that easily.� She stated before getting up and running to the bathroom. �Alexis, Alexis are you okay?� Ned asked following her into the bathroom as she got sick. �Something you didn�t eat?� He asked lovingly as he handed her a wet cloth. Alexis wiped her face and looked up at him taking a deep breath. �This wasn�t the way I wanted to tell you.� She stated with tears in her eyes. �Tell me what sweetheart?� Alexis placed her hands over her face and busted out crying. Ned didn't know what to make of it but he quickly made his way over to her and wrapped his arms around her. He just held her tight as she sat there crying. |
