CHAPTER 12 �Come again?� Ned said trying to remain calm. �Emily is pregnant.� A nervous Nikolas answered. Ned didn�t say a thing as he sat there and looked at Nikolas. Several times he tried to speak but the words just couldn�t seem to escape his mouth. He wanted to kill Nikolas for not using protection but at the same token he tried really hard to remind himself that it was as much Emily� fault as it was Nikolas�. Ned sat back in his chair took a deep breath and looked up at the rotating ceiling fan. The longer Ned remained quiet the scarier the whole situation seemed to become. I mean if Ned was this upset how the hell are Emily� parents going to react, Nikolas thought to himself. Ned looked over at Nikolas and got up, thus causing Nikolas to have a near heart attack. Ned grabbed a hold of Nikolas by the arm and forcefully pulled him outside and threw him down in a chair. �Just one question.� Ned said as Nikolas looked at him. �Is the baby the only reason you asked Emily to marry you?� �I love Emily, honestly I do.� �I didn�t ask you that, now did I?� Ned yelled. �No you didn�t.� �Now that we understand each other, what�s the answer?� �I had ever intention of eventually asking Emily to marry me just not right now.� Nikolas replied. �But no, to answer your question the baby isn�t the only reason.� �Who else knows?� Ned asked. �Just Lucky.� �Well I suggest you keep it that way until I figure out the best way for you both to inform the rest of the family.� Ned stated firmly before leaving a shaking Nikolas alone with his thoughts. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile several hours later back at the Gatehouse, Alexis has set the night for a very romantically dinner. The table is set, the wine is chilling, the lights are way down low, soft music is playing in the background and the food is on its way. Alexis walks down the gatehouse stairs in a very reveling but tasteful low cut black dress, as Ned comes flying through the door. �I have just spent the last few hours driving around in my car trying to figure out what the hell goes through the minds of teenagers this days.� Ned yelled as he quickly looked up at her before throwing his keys on the desk and pouring himself a glass of wine. He was so upset with the news that Nikolas shared with him and how much the press was going to have a field day with it, that he hadn�t even noticed Alexis or the romantic setting in which he stepped foot into. �You would think by now in this day and age with everything going on around them they would know better.� He added as he turned off the stereo, hands her a glass as well, and sits down on the couch. Alexis just stood there and looked dumbfounded, as she couldn�t comprehend what exactly he was getting at. She was about to say something when he got up and began yelling again. �The worst part in a way I feel sorry for them��.I mean it�s not like they planned for this to happen and trust me they know the price they are going to have to pay��especially both being from prominent families��..but still how could they let this happen?� Alexis walks up behind Ned and puts her arms around his waist and lends her head against his shoulder. �Sweetheart I have no idea what has gotten you so upset but trust me it can�t be all that bad.� �Can�t be all that bad!� Ned yelled as he moved his body to face hers. �Two people who don�t have the sense that god gave them to use birth control before shacking up with one another and then turning around and getting pregnant, is not only bad�� it�s stupid.� All thoughts of the fact that Ned is talking about teenagers goes right out of Alexis� head, as she feels the force of a sharp knife cutting into the deepest part of her being. She takes a step backwards and drops the glass of wine she�s holding. She feels like she can�t breath as the glass hits the floor. It shatters in a thousand pieces at the same time her tears come pouring out. Ned who is still totally oblivious to the fact that Alexis is pregnant as well continues to speak. �Trust me it was a good thing I wasn�t holding anything in my hands when Nikolas of all people told me about the pregnancy.� �Nikolas told you?� A confused Alexis asked. �Yea he told me.� He yelled as he began sweeping up the broken glass. �I know what you�re thinking��he shouldn�t have been the one who told me��� and your right he shouldn�t have been.� Alexis couldn�t take his yelling anymore and began to lose it. �I�m sorry you�re right he shouldn�t have told you I should have. I tried to tell you several times honestly I did but I just couldn�t seem to get the words out.� �And just when the hell do you find out?� Ned asked. �I know I should have told you as soon as I thought there was a possibility, but I wanted to make sure.� �Damn right you should have told me!� �Please don�t hate me I never meant to keep it from you!� �Then why did you�� why didn�t you tell me as soon as you found out? Didn�t you think I had a right to know?� �Of course you had a right to know��I just didn�t know if it�s something you really wanted or not and I was scared to tell you.� �Something I wanted?� He yelled. �If you ask me I think the timing really stinks and not being married doesn�t help any.� �If it helps any I planned on telling you tonight.� Ned threw his hands up and sat down on the couch. �A baby is the worst possibly thing that could happen and honestly that�s all that really matters. Not weather or not you knew and didn�t tell me, just the fact that a Quatermaine Cassidine baby is going to be brought into this world and really at this point and time shouldn�t be.� Alexis looked down at him and was speechless. She had no idea how, her telling him that she was pregnant, he was going to react, but she never expected this. �You know I wonder if it wouldn�t be better to just get rid of it?� Ned replied. �What?� Alexis screamed �We are talking about a baby not a piece of reality, and if you think for one minute that I plan on aborting our baby, you�re sadly mistaken!� Ned was so shocked about Alexis� reaction that he didn�t even hear what she said. �Why are we fighting about this anyway?� He walked over to her and pulled her close. �Have I told you lately how much I love you?� Alexis slapped Ned across the face. �I can�t believe you.� She yelled as he put his hand over his cheek. �One minute you�re telling me to you don�t want the baby and the next thing I know you're asking me if I know how much you love me?� She picked up her keys and headed for the front door. �If the idea of a Quatermaine Cassidine baby disgust that much you don�t have to worry about it because I�ll raise this child on my own!� She slammed the front door behind her. Ned stood there flabbergasted and still very oblivious. �Why the hell did she hit me like that?� He asked himself as he poured himself another glass of wine. �The way she reacted you�d think she was the one pregnant not Emi�..ly� He slowly trailed off as the last statement form Alexis� mouth ran through his brain. �Alexis wait!� He yelled as he ran outside the door seconds too late to stop her from driving away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quatermaine Estate �You wanted to see me?� Emily asked as she entered the living room. �Emily your father and I have been really worried about you lately and we�d like to know what�s been bothering you?� Monica asked. �I�m fine!� Emily simple replied. �Now if you�ll excuse me I�ll be up in my room, I�m waiting for a call.� �You know there isn�t anything you can�t tell us!� Alan said. �Dad really you don�t need to worry about me I�m fine.� �Emily sweetheart fine children don�t wake up in the middle of the night and get sick.� Monica said. �And they also don�t walk around looking half dead.� Alan added. �What are you implying?� Emily asked with caution. �Well we know between your school work being extremely hard this year, and you and Juan splitting up things have been rather upsetting for you.� Monica said trying to get her point across but not really saying anything. �Bottom line Emily is your Mother and I want to know if you�ve been taking anything to maybe help you out?� �Therefore causing you to get sick.� Monica said. �If you are sweetie we can help you.� �You think I�m taking drugs!� Emily yelled. �Just because I don�t have a steady boyfriend and my grades aren�t up to pare you think I�m getting high all the time?� �Emily we don�t know what to think.� Alan said. �Well you�ll both be happy to know I�m not taking drugs.� Emily screamed at the top of her lungs while Alan and Monica looked at each other very relieved. �I�m pregnant!� �Your what!� They both yelled. �You heard me I�m pregnant!� Emily yelled back as she stormed off leaving both of her parents outraged. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 13 Quatermaine Estate Alan and Monica just looked at each other as Emily ran up the stairs in tears. �I can�t believe I told them like that.� Emily says to herself as she slams her bedroom door closed. �They probably think I�m nothing more then a common slut like Carly.� She continues screaming to herself as she pulls out a suitcase from her closet and begins throwing her clothes in it. �Emily sweetheart can I please come in.� Monica begged through the locked door. �Go away leave me alone!� �Emily I just want to talk to you.� �I�m not giving my baby up and you can�t make me!� Emily yelled as she pulled out another suitcase. �I�m not going to make you do anything you don�t want to do.� �And what about dad?� �Why don�t you open the door and let me in so we can talk like two mature adults.� �Oh so now your telling me I�m nothing more then an immature child.� �Considering the fact that we are having this conversation like this through a locked door, I�d say yes!� Monica yelled. Emily knew her mother was right she was acting like a child. She walked over to the door and unlocked it. �You can come in if you�d like.� Monica walked in and shut the door behind her. �Planning on going somewhere?� �I�ve decided that I want to live with Nikolas.� Emily simple replied while she continued to place things in her bags. Monica calmly sat down on the edge of the bed. �Do you think it�s fair of you to drag your best friend into the middle of all of this?� �Nikolas loves me, he�d never do anything to hurt me.� �I know he does Emily.� Monica replied still having no clue to Emily and Nikolas� true relationship. �And I also know there isn�t anything he wouldn�t do for you but still do you think it�s fair to upset his life like this.� �Me moving in with him won�t upset his life in any way.� Emily stated. �Besides what�s the difference he I move in with him now or after the baby�s born?� �I had no idea you planned on moving in with him at all.� Emily stopped packing and walked over to Monica. She held up her hand and showed Monica the ring. �Nikolas asked me to marry him, and I said yes.� Monica was taken back a bit. �Emily I know Nikolas wants to help you and I shouldn�t be shocked that you told him first, it�s just do you think it�s right to have Nikolas play daddy to your unborn child?� �Mom there�s something that I�ve been keeping for you and the family.� �I know.� Monica replied. �I saw you and Juan in the park the other day. I�m glad to see that you guys were able to work out your problems.� �We did mom��..but we didn�t get back together.� �Are you telling me that little bastard used you!� Monica yelled. �No mom he didn�t�..well maybe he did, but it�s not what you think��..Juan isn�t the father of my baby�� Nikolas Cassidine is.� �What?� Alan yelled as he opened the door. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alexis� Suite Ned placed his key in the lock and slowly opened the door to Alexis� Suite. He walked in the room and turned on a near by light, Alexis wasn�t anywhere in sight. He closed his eyes and then headed over to her bedroom door. He stood just outside her closed door and heard her crying he knew it was his entire fault and had no idea how he was ever going to make it up to her. He slowly opened the door and it made a creaking sound. Alexis who was lying on her bed in the fetal position jumped slightly and looked up from her tear stained face to see the man she loves standing just feet away for her. Ned walked over to her as she sat up and placed a pillow over her stomach. He sat down on the bed next to her and took his thumb and gently wiped the tears from her face. A small smile came across Alexis� face as she looked into his eyes and saw his pain as well. He opened his arms up to her and she was a little confused by everything that was happening. The last person she expected to see tonight was the man who just hours before told her that he didn�t want to be a father again. She didn�t know why he had changed his mind if indeed he did but she wanted to be held and not by just anyone but by him. She removed the pillow from her stomach tossing it to the side and laid her head on his chest. He closed his eyes and kissed the top of her head and he tightly wrapped his arms around her. They just sat there holding one another for quit sometime before Ned took her head in his heads and pulled it back. Their eyes made contact to one another�s as Ned spoke. �Earlier this evening when I came home yelling and carrying on��� �I�m sorry I didn�t tell you.� Alexis stated cutting him off. Ned placed his finger over her lips. �SHhhhhhhh��.. Listen, here me out first and then you can say anything you want, okay?� Alexis shook her head yes and Ned removed his finger from her lips. �I was carrying on and yelling because Nikolas came to me earlier today.� Alexis looked down and he placed his finger under her chin and lifted her eyes back up. �You have to look at me as well��.Now as I was saying Nikolas came to me and informed me that Emily is pregnant��..� �What?� Alexis yelled. �Yea they�re going to have a baby.� �But they�re too young to have a baby they aren�t even married yet��Emily hasn�t even finished school yet.� Alexis stated. �That�s why when I came home and found you at the Gatehouse I started yelling at you about not wanting a Quatermaine Cassidine baby!� Ned replied lovingly. �Now is there something you wanted to tell me?� �Just how much I love you!� she yelled as she wrapped her arms around him. �So would you like to tell me when this baby of ours is due.� �I�m not really sure.� She replied. �I haven�t actually seen a doctor yet but I know I�m pregnant.� Ned pulled her back and looked into her eyes again. �Let me take a wild guess here���sometime during the time I want to fly you off to Europe?� �Shortly there after, I think.� She replied with a huge grin. �So we�re going to have a baby, huh?� �Looks that way.� Ned smiled at her before he pulled her into a deep passionate kiss. Several minutes later he broke the kiss. �You do realize that once we have one kid we just can�t stop there. I mean really there�s nothing worse then being an only child.� �I beg to differ.� Alexis replied. �This child of ours won�t be an only child.� Ned just looked at her. �It already has Brooke-Lynn as a sister.� �Well yes that�s true but I was thinking more on the lines of full blooded siblings not half siblings.� Ned stated with a seductive smile. �Half siblings are the only kind I�ve got.� �Me too.� Ned replied. �And that my darling is one family tradition I plan to break.� He adds before his mouth covers hers once again and they make love. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quatermaine Estate �Nikolas Cassidine?� Alan yelled �What has that no good Cassidine done now?� Edward bellowed as he walked up behind Alan. �He�s gotten my daughter pregnant.� Alan yelled. �He�s what.� Edward yelled as he pushed his way past Alan and into Emily� room. �Tell me you and that Cassidine thug are not sleeping together.� �Not only are we sleeping together, but we�re getting married as well!� Emily yelled. �Over my dead body!� Alan shot back. �That can be arranged.� Monica sarcastically said. �You honestly approve of this?� Alan said �Well no I think Emily is way to young to get married let alone have a baby but I think we�ve gone way past approving of it.� Monica shot back. �What are you doing with all this bags young lady?� Edward asked. �I�m leaving, I�ve called Nikolas and he�s coming to pick me up. He�ll be waiting for me outside.� She lied as she zipped her finally suitcase up. �If you think for one moment I�m going to allow a Quatermaine to shack up with a Cassidine, you�re sorely mistaken.� Edward yelled. �You have no right to tell me what to do!� Emily yelled back. �No but I do.� Alan said. �I don�t care what you say dad I�m still leaving and you can�t stop me.� �The hell we can�t!� Edward bellowed. �You so much as take one step outside that door and I�ll have the police arrest Nikolas for statuary rape!� �You wouldn�t!� Emily yelled. �Damn straight I would.� He shot back. �Don�t worry Emily he�ll do no such thing and I�ll make sure of it.� Monica said as she got into Edward� face. �Thank you Mom.� Emily replied as she gave her mother a hug. �I�ll be back for the rest of my bags tomorrow.� �This is not over young lady and you aren�t going anywhere!� Edward yelled. �Oh put a sock in it already Edward it�s know of your business.� Monica yelled. �I do not want my daughter living with Nikolas Cassidine.� Alan yelled. �That�s the smartest thing I think I�ve ever heard you say.� Edward yelled. �You know father Monica� right this is none of your business.� �Maybe if you two would stop running around sleeping with anything that moves you would see what�s happening to your children.� �How dare you.� Emily slowly walked to her door and sighed heavily before turning around and walking away. Nobody even knew she left as the argument became about something entirely different. She could still hear them fighting as she made her way to the bottom of the stairs and out the front door. |
