Chapter 26 One week later, Alexis is sitting behind her desk just staring out into space when Monica walks in. �Hey you got a minute?� �Sure come on in have a seat.� �Thanks.� Monica replies as she sits down. �Have you heard from Ned?� �No but I received this first thing this morning.� Alexis states coldly as she hands Monica a bunch of papers. Monica reluctantly took the papers and looked them over. �He can�t be serious?� �Oh he�s serious alright not only is he filling for divorce but he�s filling for full custody of Thomas.� �What about Kristin?� �Who knows maybe his lawyer told him he didn�t have a prey in getting her because she isn�t biologically his.� Alexis replied as she got up and walked over to the window. �So it�s true then?� Monica asked in disbelief. �What�s that?� Alexis asked not being able to keep her mind on one thing at a time since Ned disappeared. �Is Jax Kristin� father?� �I�m sorry Monica my mind has been wondering so much that it hurts. No Kristin is not Jax� she�s Ned�.� Alexis looks at her a moment before speaking. �Monica if you heard from him you would have told me right?� Monica gets up and walks over to Alexis. �Of course I would I know how much you miss him and how much the kids miss him.� �I just wish Ned would realize that and come home.� Alexis states as the tears begin to form in her eyes. �Alexis I�m so sorry.� Monica says as she wipes away the tears from her eyes and hugs her. �It�s all my fault Monica. I almost cheated on him and now I�m paying for it.� �He�ll come home Alexis he just needs more time.� Monica says trying desperately to reassure her. �Excuse me I need to get that.� Alexis states as the phone rings. �Alexis Ashton.� �Hey Alexis it�s me V I think you should come home right away Kristin isn�t feeling well.� �Okay I�ll be right there.� Alexis said as she hung up the phone. �Problem?� Monica asked. �I don�t think so, that was V she said Kristin wasn�t feeling well and that I should come home.� �It�s nothing serious is it?� �I don�t think so V didn�t seem to upset. It�s probably nothing but thanks anyway.� She said as she picked up her stuff and headed out the door. �Alexis you might need these.� Monica said handing her, her keys. �Thanks Monica I don�t know where my heads been lately.� �It�s where ever Ned is.� Monica replied. �You need to focus more Alexis and think positive thoughts.� �I�ll try.� Alexis stated quietly as she turned off her office light. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �So when did you slither back in town?� Julia asked as she sat down. �Julia not now.� Ned replied as he threw back a double vodka. �Do you really think all that alcohol is going to make you forget your troubles?� �No but this might.� Ned stated as he pulled Julia into a deep kiss. �Wow where did that come from?� Julia asked completely shock. �Well isn�t that what you�ve wanted all along Julia?� �Well yes!� �Good then what do you say we get out of here and go back to your hotel room?� Julia couldn�t believe what he was saying. Sure this it what she wanted but she figured the only way she would get it is if he was drunk. She looked down at his empty glass, sure he was drinking all right, but he was far from feeling no pain or for that matter even lightly buzzed. �So are we going to your place or not?� Ned asked as he got off the barstool. Julia pulled Ned into another kiss before she took his hand and led him out to her car. They were all over each other as they made their way through the parking lot and into her car. �Shall I drive or would you like to?� Julia asked as her tongue entered his mouth. �I�ll drive.� Ned responded as he placed her in the front seat. Ned climbed in behind the wheel and started the car as Julia began kissing his neck and unbuckling his pants. Her hands freely roamed his body as he drove down the road. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile Alexis was on her way to General Hospital with Kristin. She was driving down the road talking to Monica on the phone about Kristin� extremely high fever when Kristin began to vomit. �Oh god no.� Alexis yelled as she dropped the phone. �Alexis what is it what�s happening?� Monica screamed into the empty phone as she was driving to the hospital as well. Alexis pulled off to the side of the road and picked up her cell phone as her daughter continued to vomit. �She�s getting sick Monica.� Alexis yelled into the phone panicking. �Okay Alexis you need to calm down and get her to the hospital right away I�ll meet you down in the ER. It�s probably nothing more then the flu but I�ll meet you there.� �Okay.� Was all Alexis said as she hung up the phone and cleaned up her daughter. �Mommy my tummy hurts really bad.� The small child continued to cry. �I know baby but you hold on, we�re going to the hospital and Aunt Monica is waiting for us.� Alexis wiped Kristin face one more time with a towel and laid her back down on the front seat. She ran over to the driver�s side and got in. She couldn�t help but worry about her baby as she drove with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on her daughter. She wasn�t completely focusing on the road as her eyes continued to drift over to Kristin who suddenly feel asleep. �Kristin, Kristin sweetheart can you hear me?� Alexis screamed. �Come on baby wake up and talk to mommy.� She hollered as she looked down at her and her hand slide across the steering wheel causing the car to swerve. An on coming car blew its horn as Alexis looked up and realized she swerved into on coming traffic. Luckily for her she pulled the steering wheel back in time before she hit anything. Kristin was still out of it but Alexis decided she needed to get Kristin to the hospital in one piece and managed to concentrate fully on the road. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �Amy� Monica screamed as she ran through the ER doors. �Is Alexis here yet? She�s bringing in Kristin; apparently she has a high fever and is vomiting. �No I haven�t seen her yet, would you like me to get a room ready for her?� Amy asked. �Yes that would be great, she should be here any minute.� Monica replied looking down at her watch. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �You know Ned we could just pull over right here and continue this.� Julia said as she grabbed his face and kissed his lips hard. �Julia I can�t see where I�m going.� Ned yelled as Julia� arm hit the steering wheel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �Mommy I think I�m going to be sick again.� Kristin yelled waking up and vomiting all over the front seat. Alexis looked down at Kristin for a split second as a car came around the bend. �NO!!!!!!!� Ned and Alexis both screamed as they caught sight of each other�s headlights. It was too late and the cars both hit head on causing a large impact. Julia was thrown to the floor as Ned� airbag shot open. Kristin� body was forced onto the floor as her head made contact with the stick shift in the center console. Alexis� airbag opened but not in time as her head hit the side window cracking it. She was in such a panic to get Kristin to the hospital that she never buckled her seat belt when she ran back into the car. They all lay there motionless as the darkness falls upon them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �What happened?� Julia asked as she shook her head. �We hit another car are you all right?� He asked trying to focus on what just happened. �I think so.� Julia replied. �But I also think my arm�s broke. How about you?� �I�m okay.� He replied trying to open the car door. �I need to check on the people in the other car. You wait here I�ll be right back.� �It was extremely dark and there was smoke everywhere as Ned realized the other car had caught on fire. Quickly he ran over to the car and almost stopped short when he realized it was his car. �Oh my god.� He screamed as he ran over and opened the passenger�s door. �Kristin, Kristin can you hear me?� Ned screamed as he pulled her body out of the car and laid her on the ground. �Julia, Julia come here quickly I need your help.� He yelled. �What is it.� Julia screamed as she ran over to him. �Oh no is that Kristin.� �Yea it�s her listen I need to get Alexis out of the car.� He yelled handing Kristin to her and taking off his coat and wrapping his daughter up in it. �Talk to her try to get her to answer you.� Ned yelled as he ran back to Julia� car and got a rag. �Here hold this on her head and keep pressure on her cut.� �I will.� Julia yelled back as Ned� car continued to burn. �Alexis can you hear me?� Ned yelled as he ran over to her. �Ned, Ned get me out of here.� Alexis screamed as she tried to move her legs. �I�m stuck Ned help me please.� �I�m coming sweetheart I�m going to get you out of here.� Ned yelled as he pulled on her legs to no avail. �I�m stuck I�m going to die here aren�t I?� she yelled panicking. �You are not going to die on me, you here me Alexis.� Ned yelled back as he got one of her legs free. �See that�s a good sign.� �I can�t breath.� She screamed as she began to chock on the heavy smoke that slowly filled the car. �You hang in there Alexis, I�m going to get you out. Don�t you dare give up on me I need you.� �I love you Ned.� Alexis spit out before she faded out. �Alexis, Alexis don�t fall asleep on me, not now!� He yelled as he shook her face. �Don�t you dare give up on me.� �Ned what�s happening?� Julia screamed �What�s taking so long why haven�t you gotten Alexis out yet.� �She�s stuck.� Ned hollered back. �I can�t get her leg out.� Julia placed Kristin down on the ground and climbed into the passenger side of the car. �How can I help?� �I don�t know.� He yelled. �Her one leg is completely wedged in there.� �I�m so sorry this is all my fault, if I would have know something like this would have happened, I would have never done it.� Julia screamed panicking. �Julia forget about tonight we need to get Alexis out of here.� �But how?� �I don�t know.� He stated, as everything seemed to become hopeless. Damn she breathing in too much of this smoke and this car could go up at any moment.� �What do you want me to do?� Julia asked again. �I�ll do anything I can just tell me what you need.� �I�m going to pull on her leg and I want you to push her as hard as you can.� �Okay.� Julia replied pushed her. �Ned someone�s coming.� �Thank god.� He yelled. �Ned, Julia are you alright?� Dr. Tony Jones asked as he ran over and put out the fire. �Yea we�re fine but Alexis is trapped behind the wheel.� Ned yelled. �Julia get out of the way and let me see if I can help him.� Tony yelled as they switched places. �Her legs is trapped just below that metal piece.� Ned informed him. �Yea I see it.� Tony stated. �Listen I�m going to try and pick it up while you pull her out.� �Okay� �Ready on three.� �One, two, three, pull.� Tony yelled as he pulled the piece back and it cut into his hands. �Is she moving at all?� �I got her.� Ned yelled as Tony let go. �Thank God.� Julia screamed as the ambulance pulled up. �What do we got here Dr. Jones?� The paramedic asked. �I�m not quit sure but her lungs are most likely full of smoke, she has a nasty cut on her head and her right leg is probably broke.� �How long has she been out of it?� the paramedic asked. �About twenty minutes.� Ned replied. �Is she going to be alright?� �Ned� Julia hollered as they loaded Kristin onto the stretcher. �What�s the matter is she okay?� Ned yelled as he raced around to the other side of the car. �She opened her eyes for a moment and looked at me but then went back under.� Julia stated �I�m so sorry Ned really I am.� �Julia it�s not your fault, it�s mine.� Ned said under his breath. �Ned why don�t you ride with Kristin I�ll take Julia with me and we�ll ride with Alexis.� Tony stated as he pushes Ned towards the paramedic who took his child. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �It�s okay sweetie daddy� here and I�m not going anywhere.� Ned said as he held Kristin� hand in the ambulance. �You�re my little girl and that�s all that matters right now. Nobody is ever going to take me away from you ever again. I love you so much and I need for you to be strong.� He threw his head down as the tears fell from his eyes. �I am so sorry daddy wasn�t there for you this past week and you don�t know how much I hate myself right now for leaving you. I promised you that we�d always be a family and I just walked out on you. Well you listen to me if you open your eyes and fight for your life then I will fight for my marriage, for our family.� He wiped the tears from his cheeks. �God I love you so much my sweet little girl.� -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �We got in coming.� An intern yelled. �What do we have?� Monica asked as they wheeled in Alexis. �We have a woman approximately 40 years old with a head injury a possible broken leg and lung damage�.� The paramedic began to ramble as Monica cut him off. �What the hell happened?� �A car accident.� �Wait a minute.� Monica yelled as she looked over Alexis. �There was a small child with her where is she?� �She in the ambulance behind her along with her father.� �What?� Monica asked as they wheeled in Kristin. �We�ve got a minor with a possible head injury, he pulse is rapidly declining and she�s been coming in and out of it for the last 45 minutes.� Another paramedic rambled. �Monica you have to save them please.� Ned yelled as he came running in. �Ned we are going to do everything we can.� Monica said. �Let�s get Mrs. Ashton into examine room one and get Kristin into examine room three STAT.� -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About an hour later a doctor walked up to Ned who had been franticly pacing back and fourth. �Excuse Mr. Ashton?� �Yes that�s me.� Ned replied as he spun around at the sound of the doctor�s voice. �How�s my daughter is she going to be alright?� �She lost a lot of blood and will need to have a blood transfusion done.� The Doctor stated as Ned� heart sunk. �It�s best if the blood is donated by a parent or sibling, and since her Mother is in no condition to gave her, her blood. We�d like to give her yours.� �Fine just show me the way I�ll do anything to save my little girl�.� Ned paused for a moment. �Is something wrong Mr. Ashton?� The concerned doctor asked. �She�s not my biological daughter.� Ned quietly spit out. �Well do you know who he is, because the sooner we get him here the better her chances are?� �I�ll call him.� Ned replied as he walked away and opened his cell phone. �Jax here.� �It�s Ned.� �What do you want Ashton?� Jax asked bitterly. �Alexis and Kristin have been in a car accident you need to get down to GH right away.� �What, what happened are they okay?� Jax asked panicking as Ned hung up his phone. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About 25 minutes later Jax came flying threw the Emergency room doors of general hospital. �Ned what the hell happened are they going to be alright?� �They�re both unconscious and Alexis is still in surgery.� Ned stated as Jax shook his head. �I haven�t heard anything about Alexis since I brought her in and Kristin needs blood.� �Mr. Ashton is this Kristin Ashton� father?� The doctor asked as he approached them from behind. �Yes Dr Johnson this is Jasper Jacks Kristin� biological father.� Ned stated. �What?� Jax yelled. �Congratulations Jax the test result came back showing you as Kristin� father.� �I know what the damn test results say but it�s not true.� Jax yelled as he looked at the doctor. �Ned here is Kristin� father.� �The test results show�.� Ned started to say. �Forget about the test will you already Ashton.� Jax yelled �Kristin is your child Alexis and I never slept together.� �What is going on here?� Dr Johnston finally asked. �There was a DNA test done on Kristin Ashton a little over a week ago and the results came back claiming that I am her father, but someone must of screwed up Doctor because her mother and I didn�t sleep together.� �Okay listen to me we are wasting time here. Either way before we can give Kristin blood we have to make sure her body will except it and not cause a bad reaction. So why don�t we all go down to the lab and get this mess straighten out once and for all.� -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 27 �Monica any news on Alexis?� Ned asked as he spotted her coming around the corner. �She�s going to be fine Ned.� �Thank god. Can I see her?� �She�s still in recovery.� Monica informed him. �She�ll be moved to A private room in a couple of hours and you can see her then.� �What about her lungs are they okay?� �Her lungs are remarkable clear.� Monica stated. �She�s a strong woman and she�s going to pull through this just fine.� �What about her head injuries?� �Well Tony managed to remove the glass from the side of her head without any complications that he can see.� Ned took a deep breath. �So she really is going to be okay then?� �Physically yes.� �I know I should have never left her like that but I was so mad and hurt and I just couldn�t see straight.� �Ned how�s Alexis?� Julia asked as she walked over to them. �She�s going to be fine?� Monica replied. �Great.� Julia said taking a deep breath. �What about Kristin?� �Kristin believe it or not wants to go out and play in the snow.� Ned replied through a slight laugh. �It must be that Quatermaine Cassidine blood she has in her.� Monica shot back. �Must be.� Ned said smiling as he gave Monica a hug. �Now if you ladies will excuse me. If I can�t see my wife yet then I guess I�ll go sit with my daughter.� -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later on that day Alexis is moved into a private room. She�s staring out into space and doesn�t hear the door open and Ned walk in. He just stands there in the doorway and stares at her. He can�t believe that in a flash of a second, he almost lost two members of his family. He closed his eyes tightly and rests his head against the back of the door as he silently thanked God. Alexis looks over and is suddenly shocked to see Ned just standing there, but she doesn�t say a word. Ned opens his eyes and looks over at her and smiles when he sees her staring back at him. �Do you plan on standing there all day?� Alexis finally asked. Ned walked over to her and sat down. �How are you feeling?� �Let�s see my head hurts, my leg itches, sometimes it hurts to breath, but other then that I�d say not to bad.� Ned looks at her for a moment and thinks twice about leaning down and kissing her. �Have you seen Kristin?� Alexis finally asked breaking the tension that has slowly taken over the room. �Yea I just came from there and she�s been asking for you.� �You did tell her that I was okay didn�t you?� �Of course I did and the doctor says she�ll be good as new in no time.� Ned said as he placed his hand on top of hers. �Hey can we come in? V asked as she walked into the room holding Tommy. �Ned I didn�t know you were here, I�m so sorry we can come back later.� �V come here and bring me my son.� Alexis said. �How are you feeling?� V asked as she placed Tommy carefully on her lap. �I�ve had better days.� Alexis said with a slight smile. �Listen Alexis if you need anything just let me know.� V said as she kissed her forehead. �I�m going to go, Rachel� outside and Monica said it would be alright if she went in and sat with Kristin. Do you want me to take Tommy with me or would you rather keep him here with you?� �It�s probably better if you take him with you V.� Ned replied as he picked his son up and kissed him. �Mommy needs to take a nap now so you be a good boy for V.� Alexis just watched Ned and smiled as he handed Tommy to V. �Thanks for everything V.� �Monica told me not to stay to long because you need your rest. So I�m going to go as well.� Ned said as he turned back towards Alexis. �Okay� was all Alexis said, as she looked away from him, clearly disappointed that he was leaving. �I�ll be back later.� He said as she looked away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �Hey there mind some company?� Jax asked after he made sure that Ned was gone. �Jax come in.� Alexis some how managed to say through her tears. �You guys didn�t get into a fight did you?� he asked as he walked over to her and sat on the side of her bed. �No.� �Then what happened?� he asked taking her hand in his. �What did he do to make you cry?� �It�s over.� She said as her tears fell faster. �He doesn�t love me anymore Jax I can see it in his eyes.� �Hey he loves you Alexis.� He stated as he reached over and held her. �I don�t what it is you think you saw in his eyes but he does love you.� �I can�t live without him Jax I need him so much.� �I know you do.� He stated as he rubbed her back. �I think I know that now more then ever.� -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �You know for a man who should be grateful to have not lost his wife and child you don�t look so happy.� Monica stated as she joined him at his table down in the cafeteria. �Do you plan on eating that sandwich or killing it?� �It�s all my fault Monica.� �What�s all your fault Ned?� �The accident.� �What?� �I was the one driving the other car, you know the one that almost killed my wife and child.� �Ned I had no idea.� Monica said as she reached across the table and grabbed hold of his hand. �Alexis is going to hate me when she finds out.� �Ned she loves you she could never hate you, besides it was an accident.� �Monica you don�t understand I wasn�t paying attention to where I was going and I ran right into her.� �There�s something your not telling me isn�t there Ned?� �Is it that obvious?� Ned asked in shame. �Only because I know you so well.� �The car I was driving was Julia�.� �Ned please tell me you�re not sleeping with her?� �No.� Ned said as he looked up at her. �But that�s where we were headed.� �You need to tell Alexis.� Monica stated as Ned looked away. �Ned if you don�t tell her I don�t think your marriage has a chance of surviving.� �And if I do Monica���.. I don�t think it has a chance.� -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ned left the cafeteria and was on his way to go sit with Kristin when his cell phone rang. �Ned Ashton here.� �Hi Ned.� �Alexis is everything alright?� Ned asked lovingly. �I�m fine are you still in the hospital?� �Yea I�m just down the hall I�ll be right there.� �Thank you.� Alexis replied as tears nearly left her eyes. She wanted to say something else to him but decided not to. �Bye� Ned hung up his phone and took a deep breath before continuing to walk down the hall. �There you are we need to talk.� Edward bellowed as he ran into Ned. �Grandfather I don�t have time for this.� �Well make the time, this is important Ned.� �Grandfather with you everything is important.� �I�ve figured out a way to once and for all stop Jax from destroying ELQ.� �Great but what ever plan you have you need to put it in motion yourself. I really need to go.� Ned stated firmly as he walked towards Alexis� room. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �Well listen I better go the last thing you need is to have me here when Ned comes in.� Jax stated as he kissed her and got up. �No Jax don�t go I need to talk to the two of you together.� Alexis said. �Is something wrong Alexis?� �Not really.� �What are you doing here?� Ned asked as he walked into the room. �He�s here because I asked him to be here.� Alexis said. �Ned please come here and sit down?� Ned gave Jax a dirty look before walking over and sitting down on the bed next to Alexis. Jax sat down in the chair and Alexis took a deep breath. �There is something that showed up in my blood work that I want both of you to be aware of.� Alexis began. �Oh god there is something wrong isn�t there, I knew Monica wasn�t telling me everything.� Ned said as he held Alexis� hand tight. �I asked Monica and the other doctors not to say anything.� �Whatever it is Alexis will get you through this.� Jax informed her. �Before I go any further Ned you have to realize that Kristin is your daughter and Jax and I never slept together.� �What did you do give my wife some kind of sick disease.� Ned yelled. �If anyone gave her anything it�s you.� Jax shot back. �We never slept together, maybe one of your mistresses gave you something and you passed it on to her.� �The only person I have had sex with in the last past ten years is Alexis.� Ned yelled as he stood up and got into Jax� face. �And what do you call Julia?� Jax asked as he jumped to his feet. �Stop it!� Alexis screamed so loud that she felt like she couldn�t breath and quickly placed her hands on her chest. �Alexis sweetheart are you alright?� Ned asked as he saw all the color quickly drain from her face. �We need a doctor in here?� Jax yelled as he opened the door. �What�s the matter?� Monica asked running in. �I don�t know she was fine one minute and found it hard to breathe the next.� Jax replied. �Monica you have to do something, she can�t breathe.� Ned yelled as Monica placed an oxygen mask over Alexis� face. �Alright get out of here both of you now!� Monica yelled. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- �Monica what is it?� Ned asked as the doctors wheeled her out of the room. �Is she going to be alright?� Jax added. �She�s going to be fine no thanks to the two of you.� Monica yelled. �Where are they taking her I need to be with her.� Ned stated firmly. �Not until the three of us get a few things straight here.� Monica said as she grabbed a hold of Ned. �First of all Alexis doesn�t need the two of you fighting in front of her and secondly one of her lungs collapsed and she�s going to need surgery in order to repair the damage. Most likely they will insert a chest tube into her lungs, so therefore she won�t be able to speak when she comes out.� �But wait you said there was nothing wrong with her lungs.� Ned said. �I don�t know what happened or what caused her lung to give way like that. They�ll know more once they go inside.� �Monica Alexis said that there was something else wrong with her is that what caused the damage to her lung?� Ned asked. Monica placed her hand over her face for a moment and took a deep breath. �Monica what is it, what is it you�re not telling us.� Jax asked panicking. �There is one small problem that is going to complicate the surgery slightly.� �What?� Ned demanded to know. �I promised Alexis I wouldn�t say anything.� Monica said. �Monica please she�s my wife what�s wrong with her?� Monica looked back and fourth between the two of them. �Okay I�ll tell you only because you have a right to know.� �Thank you.� Ned slowly said. �She�s pregnant.� Monica stated. �What, are you sure?� Ned asked. �Yes she�s about six weeks pregnant.� Monica said. �Is the baby going to be okay?� Jax asked �I don�t know, I�m actually surprised she hasn�t lost the baby already.� �Oh my God.� Ned said as he sat back in a chair. �I might have killed my unborn child.� �Ned don�t even go there.� Monica said as she kneeled in front of him. �Monica if she losses this baby it will kill her and it will be all my fault.� �You listen to me Ned the best thing you can do for Alexis and your child is to not give up hope. That baby of yours is a fighter and it�s already proven that by surviving the accident at all.� She says trying to reassure him. �Look at me Ned I�m going to tell you this straight out when it came back to us that Alexis was with child not one of us in that operating room thought the baby was going to make it, but it did. Now you hold on to that and don�t you dare give up on either of them.� Monica finally yelled. �I won�t I promise.� Ned said as he finally looked up at her. �Good.� She said getting up. �I�m going to see what�s happening and then I�ll let you know. In the mean time I want you to say here and think positive thoughts.� �You know she�s right about one thing.� Jax stated as Ned looked over at him. �Alexis is a fighter.� �This is all your damn fault.� Ned hollered as he stood up. �How is this my fault I wasn�t driving the other car, you were.� �I may have been driving the other car but you are the one who brought my mother to town, and caused all this in the first place.� �What Tracy does on her own is her business I just invited her for Christmas dinner. She�s your mother if you can�t control what she does it�s your own fault.� Jax yelled as he walked away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Several hours later and well into the next day Ned was sound asleep in the chair in Alexis� room when they wheeled her back in. Ned jumped as he heard the door close behind them. �How long has she been out of surgery?� A half a sleep Ned asked. �Well she�s been down in recovery for most of the morning and well enough to be moved back upstairs.� The nurse informed him. �What about the baby?� Ned asked. �Both the baby and her mother are doing as well as can be expected.� Monica said as she came in. �Thank you Jane I�ll take it from here.� �So the baby survived.� Ned yelled as he gave Monica a huge hug. �I told you Ned it has something to do with that mixture of Cassidine Quatermaine blood.� Monica said as she looked over and noticed Alexis opening her eyes. �Well it would seem our patient is finally waking up.� �Oh god you have no idea how much I love those big brown eyes of yours.� Ned said as he bent down and kissed Alexis on the forehead. Alexis tried to say something but quickly stopped when she realized she couldn�t. �Hay don�t worry about it, I�ll bet if your anything like that baby of yours you�ll have that darn tube out of there in no time and will be up ice skating again.� Alexis shook her head no as Ned just laughed. �Did I miss something?� Monica asked. �Just a little inside joke that�s all.� Ned said. �I�d tell you but it�s one of those things where you really just had to be there to understand. �I see.� Monica said. �Well I�m out of here, so you take it easy and you make sure she gets plenty of rest.� �Don�t worry I will.� Ned said as he looked down at Alexis. Alexis put her hand out and Ned took it, she motioned for him to sit down next to her on the bed and he did. She picked up his arm and put it behind her so that she could lay her head on her chest. Ned laughed and she looked up at him. �Well I always did tell you that words were overrated.� |
